    Generally, if you want to interpolate the offset effect on 64 lines for perfect beatsync-ing, you need to cut 256 in 64 parts, which gives 4. The last line having the number 63, the value in that row should not be FF (255), but 4 x 63 = FC (252).

    I've been using "Ticks per line" effect since the mid-90s in Fasttracker II. When people ask me how they can get swings like are found in my songs, I just have to say “Learn to compose in a tracker!“ 😀
    Renoise takes it to a whole new level. Thanks for making this video and spreading awesomeness! Subscribed!

      AFAIK FT2 didn't have a "tick per line" thing, it had BPM and the weird "Spd." setting, adjustable with the Fxx command.

      pretty sure you can achieve the exact same thing by automating bpm in any daw that supports it

    They say when you truly understand something, you can explain it to anyone simply to where they understand; you do that perfectly here. Thank you so much for posting this. It has helped me immensely.

    If anyone is wondering why it got a little funky looking on the waveform when he combined the backwards command with the sample offset commands;
    When you combine the two simultaneously it actually reverses the sample offset command direction. So for example if you set a sample offset of 0S90 and then added a backwards command to the same line, it would actually play the sample *in reverse* from the same sample position as 0S70 would without the reverse command, since it's now interpreting the sample offset position values backwards. It's kind of confusing to describe in text but go try it out in Renoise and you'll get what I'm talking about pretty quickly.

    Ok maybe I finally found a way to make that drumbeat I keep beat-boxing. Renoise has always been amazing.

      not there yet but I've always wanted to be able to recreate random beat-box's I do in music and tracking is definitely getting me closer really satisfying

    Been using LPB since the 90's (Fasttracker 2) I sequence a lot of technical death metal drum stuff that changes tempo and time signature a lot.

    Bitwig's Grid could easily do this and in a more visual way for those who have trouble with the tracker type interface. The grid has a learning curve too though so not easy to get this advanced right away but definitely possible just modulating a sampler's playback head.

    • @usualatoms4868
      @usualatoms4868 4 месяца назад

      Though you could actually probably do something like this with a sampler plugin and modulation and skip the grid.

      but a really interesting way to mess around with rhythm that's unique to trackers. Thanks for sharing!

    Nice, you could do this with Impluse tracker as well, but used a different command, was a ticks per bet adjustment, but had a similar effect. Could build in some nasy swing.

    Ohhh so it works like the change speed command that was FXX in protracker, FastTracker 2 and some others...pretty sure it was F in Renoise too before they changed all the commands in 2.8 to mess with tracker veterans minds lol but yeah because of you I now know how to do my F command in Renoise !

    This is super cool! But if I understand correctly this would affect the timeline of the whole project? How would you use this technique in a bigger context? Would you need to bounce the track or something?

    I dont know if this helps seeing as its been a year since this was posted but does switching on the FX column (down where VOL/PAN/DLY/FX are) for the individual note columns achieve the FX delay youre asking about?

  • @FishCow
    @FishCow 2 года назад +1

    How do you stop renosie moving to the next step when trying to enter FX commands? Like, if I try to enter "SFF" it jumps to the next step as soon as I enter "S". It's much annoy

    • @chrisstabback4649
      @chrisstabback4649 2 года назад +2

      There's a little box under the composer where you can set how many lines it goes down when you enter something. Sounds like yours is set to "1," but you can set it to "0"

      You can also hold shift as you enter the line so it only jumps after you’ve entered the whole fx command. So Shift+S03 , and once you let go of shift it will go to the next line.

    Basically the main reason I have never gotten into renoise is hexadecimal, I just can’t wrap my head around it and I don’t want to sit there and try to look at a chart to convert numbers just to do basic stuff. Why not just make it a three digit number? It feels so stupid to me.
