Michelle, that is a really busy print, so I think you should go down the back center seam with a 2 - 3 inch strip and it would never be noticed! Or set in a wedge shape under the arms, also would not be noticed! Really fun dress!
Yeah I may add a wedge at the back, I’ll see how I get on with it 😁
@@SewingBunnyor below the armcye at the side seams. Darling little dress 😊
@@noemir8262 wishing I hadn’t overlocked all the seams now 🤣🤣🤣
Love your dress. I agree with other comments just add a little strip in the back. ❤
Yes, I've done that before, and it works great. @noemir8262
Hi, newbie here. I know how you feel about the lovely dress you have made, I have just finished a pair of trousers and thought I would go with the smaller size as they were a baggy style only to find that when I finished them they are a little bit snug around the hips! I could unpick them but the seams were finished so nicely and everything matched up! I can wear them, but would prefer to wear them in the house. I shall make another pair in a size bigger. First trousers I have made, as I have been sewing for over a year thought I would stretch my skills lol
The dress is beautiful....
Love the dress Michelle 👌💖... Hope you can repair it somehow 🙏🥰😘
Oh the cute dress!!! I had this happen once and used the seam allowance to let it out a little on each seam and it helped so much !!
Thanks for the tip! Xx
Love the blue spots of colour in the fabric 🐾🐾
I assume there's a split opening at the back or create one and reduce seam allowance thst will give more room
I started typing and the text disappeared ….or maybe was sent without my finish…. Will try to suggest again…. Consider recutting the neckline to scoop in front and maybe that will open the front enough to be more comfortable? If you have enough leftover fabric, you may need to recut sleeves to flare out or slightly gather at shoulder. Pretty, and you sew very well but you want to feel good wearing the dress. We all have been ‘there’…. Thanks for doing Vlogmas videos this year. Looking forward to seeing the finished cross stitch!
Can you reduce seam allowance from 5/8ths to 3/8ths? Should give you a bit of breathing space x
Hi Michelle I love the dress. I know it’s a bit snug, but I wondered if you had any material left to swap the sleeves to ore floaty ones that would give a bit more room for movement. Just a thought. Love Sandra ❤xx
Thanks for the tips 👍 I’m going to try first to let the seam allowance out a bit and see if that helps x
Dress looks lovely Michelle ❤😊
Thank you! 😊 I really like it and still very much wearable x
i love the fabric of your dress i couldnt find it on pound fabrics x
It’s here if that helps - poundfabrics.co.uk/products/white-red-and-blue-flowers-on-black-viscose-fabric?variant=40599928766487
It's Vogue... Isn't that a ⅝ seam allowance? Resew the set in sleeves at ¼-⅜ seam allowance about an inch down of the arm syche from the shoulder on both sides. Unless you've already serged the seam allowance off
With regards to the dress, do you have any wiggle room in the seam allowance? I made a Dressmakers Closet blouse that was just a bit snug, and by making the seam allowance 1/4inch it gave me just enough room.
On another point - what do you use under your machine to slide it back and forth? I have cork mats which I’m looking to replace with something else.
Yes I have a bit of wiggle room so I will let it out at the back a bit or if not add a wedge in which may help 🤞
I use a shelf protector matting which I cut to size to fit my machine. It’s grippy on one side and soft underneath so it slides my machine on the table x
Can totally fix this. And although with Simplicity, McCalls, Butterick and knowme, I do size down. They just run big. Vogue, however, I haven’t sewn one yet that didn’t run true to size. Easier to take in, but you’ve got all sorts of opportunities - how about v shaped inserts on the back, with ruffles? Or a contrasting color? Take care….
Yeah I think I was just used to the other ones always running a bit big as not sewn much with vogue and the only one I have sewn I needed to take in a bit 🫣 it’s ok it is still ok to wear but just not 100% x
The dress is very beautiful ❤on you
Thank you so much 😊
O like what i can see of your new room arrangement. Can you please point me to your video when you posted the new room?
Also, possibly you can put a placket of same fabric down front. It'll make it more wearable. Change the style but its so pretty...

I think I’m going to let the seam allowance out a bit to see if that helps x
I do find Vogue patterns have very little ease. Any other big four pattern you would have been fine. It is a lovely dress.
Yeah only sewn one other vogue pattern and just presumed it would be like the other big four… lesson learned 🤣 xx
The dress doesnt look too small. Really annoying as Big 4 you always need to size down!! Maybe just let out the seam allowance as that might give you an extra half inch or so which might make the difference! Xxx
Yeah i really thought I got the size right 🤦🏼♀️ I think I’m going to let the back seam out a bit as that may just release it enough not to feel so restrictive 🤞 still really wearable though so I’m still happy with it, it’s just not 100% that’s all 😁 x
As someone who always struggles to get the top of a pattern to fit, I commiserate. Commercial patterns have 5/8" seams so you have plenty of room to adjust them but it doesn't help across the bust. So sorry. Do you need more room than that?
I’m going to try to let the seam allowances out and see if that helps at all. It’s still ok to wear just very snug 🤣 I think I’ll make another one though as love the pattern x
@@SewingBunny You should make it again. It's very cute.
Aw Michelle, that’s such a shame about your pretty dress. The suggestion made by Jodierowntree488 seems like a really good plan though. Good luck with sorting it out though. Thanks for the video and thank you for being so honest in your mistake. We all make ‘em sometimes, but it’s refreshing to hear from someone such as you 👏😊 xx
Oh, what a shame about your dress. I have the same fabric in my stash and after seeing yours made up, it looks so lovely. I think that I will be making something soon.
It is such a lovely fabric! Happy sewing with it xx
Aww, thanks Michelle
What a shame it’s snug around the top as it looks gorgeous on you fabric is stunning. Well at least it’s wearable 👍😊
Thank you! 😊
Great vlog. Shame about the beautiful dress. 🎄
Never feel bad about sewing a larger size, consider it size YOU, not of it's a bigger size , we are so prejudiced into wanting to sew a smaller size cause there's shame in sewing up a larger size, next time just say you sewed it up according to your measurements, no need to give details that are so personal 😉 viewers dont need to know that
Ah thank you! You are right x
I don’t mind sharing my measurements as I feel it may help someone who is doing something similar. I’m just annoyed at myself 🤦🏼♀️ x
Michelle you can let out the seam allowance as they are usually ⅝. Unpick and make them as narrow as you can.
