Alyssa, I have a long necklace with a custom charm pendant that I had made… it has the birthstones of my grandmother, dad, and mom plus some other things that remind me of them… but I haven’t been wearing it. I’m just not in a long necklace phase. But because of your video I realized I could try wrapping it and wear the clasp at the front because it has some really pretty details… double pendant effect… and it worked! I wish I could share a picture here 😅❤ thanks for the great ideas as usual. 🎉🎉🎉
I have my dads vintage Seiko watch. I had to get a new band and the jeweler gave me great info about it. It’s self winding which they stopped doing for awhile and are now doing it again. I also have 2 pairs of his cufflinks that I wore for years. I need to get back to doing that. I’m going g to look at my jewelry stash. I’m sure I will make great “new” items. Thank you for the great ideas
Great ideas! I have some vintage pieces I forgot about. Have to say, I finally got my 2nd ear piercings at 50 and it didn't hurt a bit! I love layering earrings.
I’ve seen where someone took jewelry they already had and designed a unique piece reusing the metal and stones-so cool! Also, Emily Schuman of Cupcakes and Cashmere has a piece that her mother designed-when Emily’s grandmother passed away, they melted down her jewelry and made several bracelets honoring her grandmother’s Jewish heritage. I thought it was a wonderful way to honor her grandmother.
I am lucky to have authentic pearls, gold, silver, stones, etc., from my mother, grandmother, and mil. I don't need a huge amount of jewelry. Like well-made vintage clothing, I can style and repeat the real deal in a variety of ways, and each piece makes me feel as though my loved ones are with me. My husband has given me several beautiful pieces over the years, so I tell him that a nice dinner where I can wear the lovely jewelry is the best gift. No more jewelry for me. I love what I have.
(I wore mismatched earrings in the 80s. Did I ever ruffle some feathers back then HAHA.) I inherited one of my dad's college rings. Lots of my mom's and her mom's jewelry. Some are too big. Some are too small and yes, some are just right. Thank you Alyssa for another thoughtful video.
The two Monica Vinader jewelry pieces i have are now both tarnished. While their designs are beautiful, their lack of longevity is so disappointing, especially given their price point.
@@GlowingPathWay My first piece was their Fiji chain bracelet in rose gold. I bought it a long time ago when Monica Vinader was quite new and they had just opened their first store in Hong Kong 10yrs ago. I maybe only got to wear it for 2 years or so before it tarnished. The second was a pair of gold hoop earrings given to me as a birthday gift- that one shockingly tarnished so quickly!
I've browsed Monica Vinader at Covent Garden and was really surprised that the quality seemed so poor and the pieces so fragile for the price. It amazes me that there are so many influencers recommending this brand when to me it's totally NOT worth the heavy price tag.
I went there while in London too... I'm a follower of Alyssa, Christina and Signe but I was glad I wasn't the least bit influenced seeing the jewellery in real life.
Once you take your favourite influencers off the pedestal and realise they're not immune to sponsorships that do not 100% align with what they "preach" or worth the cost, it makes their paid recommendations easy to ignore
I have been wanting to bring jewelry back into my mix and love what you had to show us. Obsessed with the cufflinks. *Would love to hear your thoughts on brooches and placement :) * Also, can you let us know about your outfits? Specifically… Black v neck top? Jeans?
Having had localised eczema from cheap jewellery - and the back of a watch - I no longer wear a watch and have to be really careful with what jewellery I wear and how long for. So I go for brooches and scarves which don't come into contact with my skin at all. Might start wearing my pocket watch again, I just have to get a new battery for it. You can't get much more traditionally menswear inspired than wearing a real pocket watch! :D
This a crazy personal comment but I love your smile, particularly your teeth. They look like the teeth I had when I was younger, before orthodontics, which yes, straightened my teeth but ruined my smile by giving me a child sized bite(because he removed several teeth). I’m so tired of the same ‘look’ that everyone seems to aspire to.
FYI take your tarnished life’s back to the store you purchased and they will send it back to the UK for refinishing. A 5 year warranty. I have about 10 pieces and have only one example and refinishing done. ❤ Accessories are the backbone of my personal style handwriting per se ‘
The only unstackable is earrings. I have only one hole each ear therefore I can’t wear multiple earrings. I do like wearing mix match earrings. I stack rings and bracelets everyday, less so for necklaces.
I’ve been saying for about a year now that I wish cufflinks for women were a thing! How do you go about wearing with women’s shirts? It seems like not many shirts are designed for this.
Buy a man’s shirt that fits you well. The sizing makes it pretty accommodating and if necessary have it tailored or if you’re shopping somewhere like Nordstrom they offer complementary tailoring if you’re a card holder.
Monica vinader jewellery is overpriced, no better than items from a shopping channel or dare i say a cheap chinese import. I should know as i was a fan for years until i educated myself. Buy less but proper gold. You wont pass on MV jewellery so i now buy second hand proper gold. Im sick of influencers pushing this brand.
I don't like it when I choose to watch a style video on RUclips and the whole video is really just an advertisement for a company. There are a few of the style RUclipsrs that do this. I did not finish watching this video when I realized this was going on.
Not Monica Vinader again 🥱. Very disappointing that soooo many RUclipsrs are pushing this mass produced jewellery. Can’t be very “unique”! I seek out jewellers who will make pieces especially for me, using recycled gold/silver and diamonds etc..
I really value your focus on categories rather than a specific item.
I 💟 your slow fashion perspectives. 🇨🇦
Love the ideas. Now I just need to wear my “fancy” things on the daily instead of waiting for an occasion. ❤😂
Great job with Nona’s jewelry…the combination on a chain is top notch ❤

Love the mismatched earrings since i was given a pair of pearl earrings and lost one. Thank you for the idea.
Such a great video, Alyssa! I love how creative you are with everything and as a jewelry person, this video was super exciting. Feeling inspired.

I have a pair of cufflinks with my initial A, and use them with a man silk shirt in a cream color…very very decadent! 😆
I don’t wear rings anymore, but I wear my parent’s wedding rings as pendants with a heart pendant on a medium long gold chain😊
Love this ❤❤
Thank you for this video! And it was amazing to look at youtube and see a "surprise" video from you (not on a Sunday) - total treat!
I love cufflinks too and totally agree that they do not have to look masculine.
Great video
I love jewelry ❤😊

I thought they had a guarantee. Have you contacted the company?
Could you please write what are those jewelry pieces, what they are made of?
Definitely agree with you! I’ve had the same experiences with mine.

I prefer to save up for "real" jewelry that will last a lifetime, which is in keeping with the slow fashion mindset.
The cufflinks are great!!!
Love this content, your perspective ...and Monica Vinader's jewelry. That snake chaine necklace is on my list :)
That black shirt with the cufflinks, Alyssa, especially the pearl 😍 So you, gorgeous look. My favourite accessory you presented? Definitely Apollo 🩶

I have a strand of stick pearls that is my favorite pearl necklace. It is unique and thats why I love it.
Love your two tone watch! What brand is it?
I have been wanting to bring jewelry back into my mix and love what you had to show us. Obsessed with the cufflinks.

I have no piercings at all🙃, but I love earcuffs, you can stack them also with your other earrings. Greetings from switzerland
Thanks for the ideas. I've felt lost as to how to "do" my jewelry.

When mixing metal colors, how do you suggest they be balanced?

Would you mind adding the discount code in the description? The links don't seem to have them included - at least for me 🤷♀
Same here

I love the bangle. I'm a bracelet girl.
I love your bold rings. Do you wear your rings when you do dishes or taking shower?
❤ get the piercings 🎉 i have various and still alive 🥳. Merci pour tes conseils 😊
That comment on the name spelt incorrectly on the friendship bracelet is hilarious 😂
I meant to write pieces, not life’s Cat assisted typing. 😹😂
Where can we find a code?
apologies! I've added it to the description box!
@ thank you.

Another idea to glam up your shirts is use button covers. They're about $55 on Amazon
