  • Make sure you have a gutter downspout adapter that goes from the gutter down spout pipe to your drain pipe - one with a filter to catch leaves. You'll also want an inline catch basin. Our catch basin holds a bunch of shingle gravel and you only need to clean it out every five years. It's only five inches wide so it fits in a trench so it's very easy to install.
    Finally, you'll want to discharge with a pop-up emitter. Those are the three major components of a really good underground buried downspout system.

    I have been watching all your videos but haven't fully committed. I have an area with 5 downspouts close to each other and a serious sidewalk run off. How will the downspout adapter do with pine needles?

    • @FRENCHDRAINMAN
      @FRENCHDRAINMAN  Год назад +5

      Pine needles are the absolute worst. Nothing can 100% protect you against pine needles with the exception of cutting the Evergreen trees down. You have to go with 4" pipe you have no choice in the matter. Needles get in everything. They are a mess. Our sediment trap will need to be cleaned once a year. Also go with a pop-up emitter with sump bottom.
      Good luck

      Our customers, they value quality and they're not going to let the shipping costs get in the way of a quality installation. The shipping companies get their pound of flesh, there's no doubt about that. But if you don't value your time and sweat equity, you'll be doing it a second time.

      @@FRENCHDRAINMAN yeah I get it but you might want to look into a new distribution company.... I was about to pull the trigger on $600 worth of product but shipping came out to be an additional $650.... Something's not right about having to pay more for shipping than the price of the product itself...

      I'm in the same boat. Would buy hundreds of dollars worth of product, but nit paying twice that for shipping. FDM you should definitely look into expanding through distributors or big box stores. You'll make a lot more money.

    Thanks for sharing your knowledge. My downspouts drain directly onto the walkway of my home. I just had my roof replaced and my San Diego home never had gutters.
    My question is how do I cut into my walkway that is on the perimeter of my house so that my downspouts can drain into a unit like the one in this video? I am in the process of pricing out having a drainage system installed adjacent to my property line and I would like to get the same thee units installed in this video. Thanks Reggie the BackYardJackOfAllTrade but no time to master any without RUclips’s help
