Hey everyone! Are you still having trouble figuring out your skin undertone? Your comments on here inspired me to put together the simpliest way I know -- look at your eye pattern - so easy and accurate. Check out this video to find out more - ruclips.net/video/BXsWCIN5nQM/видео.html
Please help? If I am cool skin what color so I pick? Cool or warm? This is confusing. Do you pick cool colors like your skin or opposite like warm? Thanks and enjoy your tutorials
I'm a neutral, but I lean pink. I can pull off soft autumn and soft summer. I have to be careful of saturated color, but the right orange looks amazing on me.
Thanks for sharing this Carol... I always wanted to understand this basic thing about silver vs gold and now I get that it has to do with skin undertone. Thank you! Looking forward to learning more from your videos!

sg bhatti Glad you enjoyed the video! You may also enjoy my new free phone app on the App store and Google Play called Shopping My Colors (shoppingmycolors.com). I find the vein test to be a bit tricky and what I can tell you is many people have blue veins (who are warm) around their wrist area which even makes it trickier. That's exactly why I did this video to give you some alternatives. So glad you found it helpful!
I'm still a little confused as to what undertone I have. I'm tend to tan easily and rarely ever burn, I have dark brown eyes and black hair as well. Gold seems to blend in with my skin tone a lot, but I personally feel that silver looks better on me as well as a crisp white color.
My latest video may help - ruclips.net/video/sNA_6KpSpzw/видео.html Could be the lighting coming across in this video. My latest video gives you things to look out for.
I enjoyed the video but I think that both the gold and the silver would look equally good with your skin tone. The side where you placed the silver fabric is where the light is hitting your eye in the video, making your eye look brighter. The other side has a shadow and your eye looks dull and you can't really appreciate it's color. Any color of fabric on that side (left hand side of the viewer) would make you look more washed out because the lighting on the right hand side of the viewer reflects upon your eye and we can see the color of your eye better. I would want to see this same test done in really excellent lighting that doesn't favor one side of your face. I think we would find that you look beautiful regardless because it's not what color you wear that counts, but how it's worn.

The word "undertone" sounds confusing. If undertone is under the skin and we can't see it why does it make a difference if it's cool or warm? I am struggling with finding my undertone. I had my colour analysis done back in the '80's and was told that I am a Spring. I also went to Carol Baker Visage and was told that I am a Sunrise. A sunrise has many more colours and some colours are warm and some are cool. My confusion is that I think I can wear both silver and gold jewellery but that may not be correct. Wondering if I may be a neutral.
A question I have is that I have naturally jet blue black hair, but my skin tone is slightly warm. I have both blue and yellow undertones, but I lean slightly more yellow and have been analyzed as a Deep Autumn. (My hair has been lightened to dark brown with caramel highlights). I look slightly better with cream vs. optic white. If my hair is naturally jet blue/black, does that mean I have naturally just looked “off” all my life with the mismatched cool black hair and slightly warm skin tone? I am trying to make sense out of it. Thank you!
Eva R Definitely a lighting issue in this video. Check out this video where I explain further and there is much more natural light - ruclips.net/video/hkur0YJY0-w/видео.html

It would be helpful if you told us what exactly to look for. Often when doing different colors my face seems to reflect a color like it soaks it up. Is that indicative of "my" color? Honestly I've tried to figure this for decades with no success. I have also had two drapings done at different times with completely opposing outcomes. Help!
I am confused I am a natural redhead/strawberry blonde now that I am older. I have light eyes blue/green and I always burn never tan. I was guessing I was cool but then when you said if you have strawberry blonde hair you are warm. Which one is it? I am so confused.
Iam confused I can tan easily never burned and gold suits more but burgundy also suits more than red does eye colour from far away is black from nearby its brown natural hair with black+ brown which confuses me am I warm undertone or cool undertone
these tests are pretty good. the one thing i will disagree with you on is the undertone of the skin not changing over time. i came into some health issues a couple years ago that lead me to develop Gilbert's disease on two separate occasions. my skin was never as pink/cool toned afterwards. growing up i was always cool toned with blue viens. now i'm neutral. i look good in either colour of jewelry. this also makes it hard to find a bronzer shade that is not too orange or too muddy or grey. thank you for posting this video.
Undertone is based on the amount of hemoglobin and carotene in your blood. Hemoglobin is amount of cool and carotene is amount of warm -- hence why your undertone doesn't change in your lifetime. What can change is skin tone.
maryratti I have Gilbert's Syndrome too! My skin is really really yellow and the veins on my wrist are purple while all the rest are really green so I have absolutely no idea what my skin tone or undertone is 😳
Nicole Knight Thanks for watching! You will likely still lean cool or warm (ruclips.net/video/V-qX9pejGmo/видео.html). Determining your skin undertone is just the first step in a color analysis - next steps would be to determine your primary color season and flow of color season -- then ultimately you will know your best hair, makeup, clothing and accessory colors. Check out my free app (shoppingmycolors.com) or a few of my other videos -- they may help. Thanks again for watching!
This seemed too subjective. Plus the lighting is poor. You need decent lighting, or at least face the lighting to avoid shadows. The left side of your face [our right] is lit, while the other side is darker. Not sure how one proceeds without having basic lighting addressed. IMO. But thanks. Watched your eye pattern qualities vid. Interesting.
There are 3 aspects to every colour -- undertone, value, intensity -- if cool, you pick cool... But that's only one of the 3 aspects of colour. I would recommend finding out all that are in harmony with you thru seasonal colour analysis. More details in several of my other videos.
I get it. I never believed I looked good blonde but I listened to other people saying I need to go lighter as I reach 48, NOT. Miss my dark healthy curly. Ugh blonde looks ugly on me

I have blue veins and darkish green eyes with gold flecks in them. I keep my hair a golden blonde becuz I don't like drab grey ashy tones. But I want a haircolor that can maybe tone down my Ruddy complexion. What should I do?!

Hmm. Well, having tried this experiment, I've come to the conclusion that I look absolutely hideous in anything but black, charcoal, burgundy, and deep violet/purple. Being a (nearly lifelong) g*th has its advantages! ;D

OMG! you nailed it! So much conflicting information out there. I loved how simple and clear you made it.
it also helps that the light is coming in from the right your left side, changes everything.

Hi! I think I'm a cool undertone! I was wondering, could I get away with a cool metallic gold, compared to a more yellow gold. Is that a thing?
I am soooo confused. I seem to have cool toned skin but my hair has always had gold and red in it so that indicates warm hair color.
I thought the gold and warm white looked better on you
