    Hello Jess, great video and good work! I’m a youngish in my 30s, single Asian American expat just relocated to Hong Kong from Los Angeles, California. I’m looking to rent an apartment here and neighborhood is important to me. I was wondering if I can ask your advice on what neighborhood would best fit my situation, I’m looking for somewhere where young professionals live (so not exactly looking for a family friendly neighborhood), I would prefer to live in an area with either expats or local people who had overseas living experience (like an overseas returnee), so it’s easier to meet new people with less language and cultural barriers, I’m not looking to live in a very “local” place such as North Point or Chai Wan lol😅since I’m only looking at the Hong Kong island side, so my coworkers recommended to look into mid-level, Kennedy town, Sai Ying Pun or maybe Quarry Bay? Would you kindly share some thoughts on these places? Thank you so much!

      Sure! I would choose sai Ying pun. It's got a large expat population and has lots of nice restaurnts and coffee shops. It's got a nice vibe and is close to Central. Kennedy town is nice for the seaside but it's a little too far for my liking. It also depends on where your work is.. I mean I live in Sai wan ho and my work is a 20 min walk away in tai koo. Quarry bay is nice if your work is in the eastern part of the island.

    I'm moving to Hong Kong in a week or so. Can you let me know if Tsim Sha Tsui is a neighbourhood filled with locals or can I find decent amount of expats there? And is $8-10k a decent budget for a studio on the Island?

    • @JessBeyondHorizon
      @JessBeyondHorizon  9 месяцев назад +1

      Tsim sha tsui is filled with tourists. I used to live there. Locals don't really live there. Expats maybe. 8 to 10k is a decent budget for a small and older subdivided studio on the island.

    50% commission to the agent?! Maybe it's 50% of 1 month?

    • @JessBeyondHorizon
      @JessBeyondHorizon  2 года назад +1

      Yes that's right, 3.5 months: 2 months in advance and 1 month rent. And the 50% means 0.5 of the month. 😊
