- Today, I'm reviewing The Fantastic Four Omnibus Vol. 1 by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby from Marvel Comics! This Omnibus kickoffs the legendary Lee/Kirby FF run and it's a gem all the way from the dawn of the Silver Age of comics!
Mr. Fantastic, Invisible Woman, Human Torch, and the Thing teaming up as the incredible Fantastic Four for the first time fighting off the Mole Man, the Skrulls, Namor the Sub-Mariner, Doctor Doom, and so many more.

This has been such a fun run to make my way through. I’m amazed at how well these high-flying, science-fiction/fantasy stories hold up! Have you read Stan Lee and Jack Kirby’s Fantastic Four? 📚🤔📚

I love these stories. My favorite is when the Fantastic Four meet Rama Tut in Egypt. Kirby draws his face looking so sinister. You just know he's a bad guy from his facial expressions alone.
I had never read that issue prior to reading this omnibus that was definitely a standout! Another I really liked as well was when they encounter the Red Ghost, with his super intelligent primates and meet the watcher 😱👏
FF and ASM are my top shelf choices for Silver Age for my money they had everything else beat by a mile

The artwork in this run went from good to truly 'fantastic' once Kirby started being inked by Joe Sinnott!
Yeah I finally have this full run in Omni format and it’s crazy how much the art
Develops and agreed love Sinnott’s inking it really elevates Kirby’s already stellar work 💪👏
What’s interesting is I’m in omnibus 2 right now reading and even before Sinnott, Kirby’s pencils even seem to be getting stronger or he’s getting more confident in portraying these characters or soemthing. Great stuff
I’ve been thinking about buying this omnibus? I think I might finally pull the trigger.
It’s an incredible read and such a time capsule of a book. For my money this title and the Amazing Spider-Man are the best the silver age has to offer! There’s so much creativity here and the character dynamics are way ahead of their time for this medium. You get a good chunk of issues and the reprints are just gorgeous. I will say Kirby’s art just gets better and better across these collections but wow!
I’m not sure if this Omni is currently in print or not, but if you can find one for a good price or wait for the reprint this was one worth picking up in my opinion! 👏

@@TheComicBookReport hey man! I appreciate your replies and feedback! Thanks! Yeah, I have read some of my friends FF volume-2 omnibus and enjoyed what I read. That’s about it. Although, I just got my copy of Amazing Spider-Man Omnibus Volume-1 and I’m enjoying that so far. There’s just so much to buy right now, I’m not sure if I should get so many oldies lol.
@@Aluminatihusker completely understand that I’ve had to be strategic on what I pick up and what I save up for etc. We’re in a golden age for these omnibus formats particularly!

Absolutely! I finally got Volume 4, so I now have this whole run as well. I’m currently somewhere in volume 2 and am eager to finish :)
Have you read the Byrne run? I’ve heard great things

@@TheComicBookReport I plan on reading the bryne run after I finish hickman's run. Reading all four original fantastic four omnibus' was a huge project.

Is this back in print? I just read the John Byrne FF Omnibus and some Epic Collections but would love to get this...old school>modern all day imo
Unfortunately I don’t believe this is currently back in print. This was an older printing, just wanted to do a review because I just finished making my way through it :)

I do believe the first paperback epic collection for Fantastic Four is back in print that collects the first roughly 20 issues of this run :)

@@TheComicBookReport I will for sure I've been on an FF kick lately, I have the first Silver Surfer Epic which is nothing but prime Lee Kirby FF and just finished Byrne's run so I have to go back to the beginning!

I’m in volume 2 of these omnibuses now. I just read the Hickman Fantastic Four run which is modern hut great. And I preordered the first Byrne omnibus when it gets reprinted in a few months :)
