And mostly you can find south Indians in that Gully. In Varanasi, people don`t say Jai Bhole ki but "HAR HAR MAHADEV" (Kind of Jai bhole ki). If you shout har har Mahadev in the road you will find people will take their hands above their Heads. Mahadev means Greater than Gods and it`s the other name of SHIVA.

Brother don't mind I want to correct your knowledge at aspect, that person was right it's "Har har Mahadev", What you was pronouncing was completely wrong. And "Shivling" is not Penis and vegina it's a wrong interpretation. I guess some indian man has told you about this , however it's a wrong knowledge some Indian have. There is a complete story behind occurrence of the Shivling. The Hindu saints do the meditation of lord Shiva by focusing on the flame of "Diya" or you can say candle but because of wind the flame always gets moving because of that they are not able to make focus on their meditation to lord shiva then they make a structure similar to the flame of candle and named them Shivling.

The twelve lingas around the picture of child Shiva are called the twelve jyotirlingas, these are belived to be twelve self-menifested shiva lingam which have their own history (called sthal purana), distributed all around India. The one at Varanasi is called Kashi Vishwanath (the lord of the world of the city of light).
Varanasi is the holiest place for Shaivites. It is believed that Kashi is separate from the three worlds, as it is held by Shiva's trishula (trident).

In Sanskrit ‘linga’ means ‘mark’, so the lingam is an identification or symbol - of the formless Shiva who is manifest all over the universe. How does one identify or connect to Him who has no form? There needs to be a sign to identify Him.
For this, the ancient seers placed a round or oval or cylindrical stone and related it to Lord Shiva.

It’s interesting to see the average Protestant or secular westerner’s astonishment at religious festivals in the east. Go to any Catholic or Orthodox country and there are hundreds if not thousands of amazingly colourful festivals, services, and holy days. Corpus Christi, the festivals of the Madonna, the Good Friday processions and annual Holy Week services, Benediction, Latin Mass, Gregorian chanted liturgies, Greek chanted liturgies, ancient Aramaic services...all of them with massive attendance. In Italy or Portugal etc almost every village and town has its own local saint’s day with a festa and street food and so on. Anyone in London can go somewhere like the Brompton Oratory and attend a full sung Latin Mass with an amazing choir in an astounding church. And that’s the pity really- tourists come here to see our culture and architecture but we just walk past it. In fact, England was once so famous in Europe for its religious piety and colourful religious celebrations that it was known as “Our Lady’s Dowry” in honour of the country’s profound devotion to the Madonna. In fact (where Europe is concerned) it’s only in most of the cold north of Europe that religious festivals are treated as unusual- in the rest of the continent it’s the exact same as India etc; part of the ordinary colour of life. Small shrines all over Spain, Portugal, Ireland, Poland, etc- the same tiny little roadside shrines to Mary or a local saint, little chapels dotted all over the countryside. And, lo and behold, those countries tend to have far friendlier and family-oriented societies where money and status aren’t seen as the only things in life. Sadly, I think a lot of our so-called “progressive life” in the west has lost its soul. We can’t even take five minutes out of our day to give thanks to the Universe for all that we have. And that’s really what religious practise is- a bond with life itself. And each other.

I've only just now (last few weeks) discovered you and Harold. Some great content from you both. I now like before I even watch the video and subscribed to you both as well.
    Thanks!
I especially like that you speak the language of where you visit (I've lived here in So. Cal. for 45 years and STILL can't speak Spanish!). It keeps the scammers at bay and creates a bond with the locals that most tourists don't get to experience.
I like your friendly nature, humanity and humility.
One of the best things you have done for India, is show that the people of that country are actually humans.
Not the scumbag scammers who bombarded us by telephone daily. Or the pitiful poor the world's press portray them to be. Third world countries doesn't always mean low life and bandits (although we know there are many).
India's reputation has now risen in my mind and they have you to thank for it.

I have something genuine to say if you're willing to listen.. I've been through some bad times, harsh times, I've had it easy, just like any of you, especially you guy! And once in a while comes in 'That Storm' the one where ya ain't coming back from, call it whatever you like, but it was darker than any dictionary book could describe, blacker than black pure darkness.
I'm telling you this just in case some of you are going through something similar, because I ran away when that heavy fear washed ashore on my life, depression and pain has nothing on it, might just call it pure evil hounding you like a hungry beast.
So I ran, I cried, I fought, and all my hubris, Earthly wisdom, tamed religious spectrum under a board of theism and logic couldn't yank me outta of this mucky pool of quick sand. Hell, I tried doctors, I thought it was a mental breakdown, or spinal nerves, any brain disease, holy moly was my back against the wall here. I ended up at my brother's house, this was my end of the road.
Can't say it was the best place in the world, they were like me, hard-headed and couldn't help me in the slightest. That night it felt like this was the last time I could put up with what ever was hounding me, call it what ya want, darkness, evil, or just the damn Devil, seriously screw that clown, but with such bravado I threw the towel in. I went to sleep that night not intending to wake up. I gave a knock on that big door up there, to the Big man, and that fellow they call Jesus and admitted I was out of league on this one, this was it, I'm going to sleep, I don't know why you don't help me, but I know you're there, behind those gold gates, beyond space, beyond this box we're all in, but either way, "I give up." and then I closed my eyes in tears.
Next moment I dreamt.. The second I did I was struck by a pillar of gold light hitting my body; glittery and misty. The darkest snakes and insects scattered out of me. Then out of this light came out three angels blowing long trumpets in their hands. Yeah, it's just as big as the spectacle you're imagining right now in your head. Then suddenly I became a child in the dream..
I was now in an old stone house, a table of tools on one side. Before me was a door, the latch was missing on it.. I could see a sunset with a field of tall grass, and what sounded like children playing.. I pulled on the door but it was locked, no doorknob. The door wouldn't open, but then something came through the door, it transformed into Jesus. Within his hands he was holding his heart which was on fire, he then handed to me.. I took it and placed it inside of me. The feeling I felt was a blissful happiness that blinded everything, very blinding, nothing mattered at all, except the feeling which was one of unconditional love. Think of winning 100 mega lottos, having the perfect gal, family, someone brought back, flying in the sky, every perfect thing that can make your life and smile in the world and multiply it by a million, that was this unconditional love from this fiery heart. It is a love that is untamable. And then.. I woke up!
I never had read the bible up to this point in my life, but the things in my dream were directly from the New Testament, that little section at the far end of the bible. I picked up the book, searched it, researched it as fast as I could. But there it was.. everything from the dream.
JOHN 10:9 "I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture."
      Even the Old Testament
EZEKIEL 36-26 "Moreover, I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; and I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh."
EZEKIEL 10:4 "And the glory of the Lord went up from the cherub to the threshold of the house, and the house was filled with the cloud, and the court was filled with the brightness of the glory of the Lord."
      And lastly.
REVELATION 3:20 "Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in and dine with him, and he with Me."
Since then, I've had a burning fire in my chest, an assurance of knowing the Truth of this world and of Him. About making it in this world, about death, about everything, this time we spend here is a sort blink, before you know it you're 30 and next 70, it's up to you whether you believe my testimony or not, you have free will and ultimately you must decide, but Jesus is real, so thanks for reading, truly you took a chance in it that I hope profits you and everything else friend.
