This is great. It's so interesting to hear about your process, I'm so amazed by how much content you put out, and how COOL it all is.
I feel like Haze (GREAT SONG BTW ILY) had the same inspiration like in this vid ig but idk??
Tessa Violet TESSA! Love you so much
TESSSAAAA😍😍
OMG ITS THE QUEEN HII QUEEN
True
I usually "cheat" by consulting a rhyme dictionary. I also write backwards from a line that I want to end a stanza with, so that I come out on the right punchline. And I always get a concept together of what I want to deal with, so that I have an overall arc that makes sense. Oh, and I love to vary the chorus ever so slightly that it assumes different meanings as the song progresses.
I'll use this website: alliteration.me/synonym.html to make things alliterative. If used in moderation, alliteration can make things flow better. If used extensively, it makes you seem like a genius. If you know what letter you want to alliterate with, you can just enter that and input some random words. The algorithm on this site isn't very finely-tuned, so it will give you not only synonyms to what you search for, but also any related words (antonyms etc). Just pick out a few you like and make it work.
I really thought he said 'buns.'
Karishma Rawat wait i thought he did say buns lmao what did he actually say?!? Puns?! I’m so confused
when you leaned in really close and whispered, I could have sworn you said "butts". but... I just realized--yes, just now, a good five minutes after watching--that you said "puns". derrrp.
+Cyndi Crawford I heard 'buns'. I was so confused.
+monohymn i heard buns too
He said puns, but then he made a list of things that were not puns? I'm not sure what really happened there
I don't know if you noticed, but the intro high five is always edited to fit the location that is filmed...
Can't wait for the full version - it's been stuck in my head since you uploaded it, and my voice has gone a bit hoarse singing along to it!
This actually helped me a lot! I wrote a song and it took me only like 1-2h and usually it takes me multiple days or even weeks to figure out how to express my feelings because I can't find the right words and it really demotivated me. Thanks for telling us this! ^-^
This is exactly how I be, I have so many unfinished trash songs😂, I literally only have like a few lines
THIS SONG JUST GOT EVEN BETTER AND I LOVE YOU SO MUCH FOR BASICALLY WRITING A RELATIONSHIP SONG BASED ON HORSE PUNS! no but seriously tho. videos like this are just so incredibly interesting and I would love to hear/see more about what you've been thinking while creating something. :)
She said, neigh
When I said hay
I didn't take my ear off the ground
Now we're standing on stable ground. xD
That method is really inspiring. I love word play, especially alliteration and puns. Storing this away for future use.
wow that turned out a really awesome song!!
I'm really interested in the program you talked about, is it something that might be available to purchase?
as always, awesome video Andrew 🔼😉
Hey andrew! You're awesome at music, keep doing what you love!
I'm a poet and lyricist myself, and I frequently use a thesaurus after I have something down to make it better. Some people think that's cheating, but I feel like it's just another tool for an artist. I also think I will have to try your idea out sometime, I love that. And your song turned out amazing, so I'd call that "cheat" pretty credible. Can't believe that song didn't get alot of love, that's one of my favorites that you've done recently.
I saw Deep Going! Easily my favourite of your daily songs so far!
+Patrick Haesler - A very good video, I agree.
I write my own songs and I thought Deep Going had interesting lyrics which were off the beaten path, really liked the song Andrew!
I love the echo of ur high five! It sounds perfect for the environment your in!!!! The little details count!
the secret is out!
the world will never be the neigh-ame
I'm so sorry
So do you think it's...
STRAIGHT FROM THE HORSE'S MOUTH?!
HORSE JUICE
stahp
I really like the street you are on! the birds are chirping and the dogs are barking. I can also hear gates and footsteps and trees rustling. I love it! I also voted for you on facebook for the award. I dont know if you will get it but I know you deserve it. You're such an inspiration! :)
I noticed some of the puns in that song but since I don't know a lot of horse terminology most of them flew right over my head!
very cool and interesting video! thanks for explaining all that andrew. you give me inspiration c:
Pretty unrelated comment, but Andrew is a frickin musical genius. 🔥
Finally
After hours on RUclips
Thank you so so much ❣️❣️🌹
Cool! Knowing nothing about writing music, it really is interesting to hear you talk about how all this comes about. It kind of sounds like you treat words like a sculptor would treat clay. Pretty neat. :)
If anything, it makes the song even better for me! When you started out with cold-blooded, later it says 'used to be stable' I knew what was going on and I loved it! However, being a foreigner I had no idea what other parts of the lyrics were related to horse terminology. So thanks for clearing that up! ^^
I love the song. Also if you get the chance, I would love to see more of you and Hannah Hart collab.
I never picked up on it! I'm rubbish at listening to lyrics though, my mind always goes straight to melody etc. Thanks for the tip - I've sort of done this method recently but not to the same extent, ie "that word has something to do with rockets in space right?".
Thanks for the tip!
great music
I tried this trick and it totally works! I had decided to call a song I'd been working on "Singe", so I just used any interesting terms from the dictionary.com entry and saw where the rhymes could take the song. Thanks for the idea! These videos where we get to see your methods are always cool.
Thank you for making this video! *high five*
This is incredible- I gotta try this.
I did notice a few of the horse-puns, actually... I thought it was a pretty decent song, but maybe just too short; it wasn't clear if it was a full track or just playing with the melody a bit. Looking forward to a longer piece based on it, though. It was pretty cool...
Great insight!
I caught the phrasing, but how exactly you got to that point is really interesting. Any other "inside baseball" stuff you want to toss out there is fine by me.
I caught, like, 3 of the puns in the song originally. There were so many!
i do i get the program that your frnd made?
another great vid.... i like the Rick Mercer, walking and talking style....
lol, my dog started barking at the dog in the background....
What is the program your friend uses to decipher and code to music??
Google "Langorhythm" for the website.
It's not dirty; puns are fantastic, and I think it's awesome you manage to use them to make great content :p
What thing did you use to code it? Where can I find it? I NEEEEEEEED IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I teach sixth graders. I will be using this video and the song Deep Going to teach poetry tomorrow in class. Thanks for all you do!
Can the program your friend coded be access to the public
You motivated me to make music
First of all, it's amazing how you crank out so many cool vids and songs.... Also, I really wanted to thank you for being "family friendly." Haha... I can watch your vids with my kids in the room and not have to worry about something horrible coming on. Actually, if they hear, "Hey, what's up? It's Andrew Huang," they come running over... 😁 So... Thanks 😁
Yes, loved it
Thanks!
nice reverb on the high five ;D
I just use a thesaurus? Which I think people maybe see as a cop-out, but it's kinda the same process you're talking about.
I start with an idea I want to expand, or one line, and just look up keywords. I always end up finding new shades of meaning and juxtapositions that are more interesting and sometimes the song goes to a whole different, often more visceral place because of it.
Oh my god. I think you just unlocked lyric Narnia for me.
I love this idea puns especially from specific terminology is fun
2:02 proper psycho right there. no offence, I feel you :D
For me.. I always lost marks for writing, never-ending sentences or sentences that's too long.. So my mind was not thinking in chunks.. I watched some other guide and a tip was to look for book titles as song ideas.. So when I made notes on my own.. Stuff like verbs.. what songs can be described as.. eg "A case of..", "A memory or scenario".. I took cris de burg's Lady in red.. as an example.. noticing the guy crafts in a way that your imagination does all the grunt work.."like he's standing there empty handedly in a dance gesture".. going.. dude.. see me doing something.. but then I also noticed the whole song could be one long chain of book titles.. or (epics for a lack of a term).. "Everywhere that Mary went" could be a book title.. "his fleece was white as snow" can also, if you think about it.. for the next few days everything I heard sounded like that.. no matter what song.. and when you try it yourself it's not that hard to epify each sentence.. If you read this far.. you probably shouldn't have 😂😂❤❤ Rambo was a brown dog
He did not have any friends
But then he peed on a Sycamore tree
Now he has more than he can handle..
Everything is like that. You could write a one word epic, "you", "I".. 2 word, three words etc.. I title can also be seen as a suggestion to have the listener quickly write content in their minds over each loaded epic idea in your lyrics.. If you struggled like me all your life with rhyme etc.. then this will probable be home run for you.. alot of songs also become more powerful when you hear like this😢😢
GodSpeed!
This is pretty good advice.
you are realy cool!
haha you look around to make sure nobody's listening, before whispering the secret to 924,989 people!! love it.
I love how i saw this video in the sub box and i was like "he's gonna say puns" annnd there we go
Someone needs to photoshop his hat to be 20 feet taller 😂
I missed the puns, where were the puns!
I whispered "puns" before you did. (Yes, I feel special, thank you.) :D I'm pretty sure you mentioned 'punning' in the comments below the noble horse video, so some people were able to pick up on it. :)
I think when puns are put to music, they become clever lyrics. The music somehow makes them laudable instead of groan inducing!
the silhouette of the hat looks like a British royal guard flufffffff thing.
Nice tips. I'm just glad you didn't name it "Deep Coming".
What was the word you whispered? I've no idea.
Thats not really a cheat, thats how you write songs haha
Do you live in Los Santos?
I found trying to make lyrics so difficult that I don't even bother any more with my songs and just stick with instrumentals! I would love to do lyrics as I can sing really well! lol
+Defensive Wounds pun your way to mastery, my friend.
this really helps, at least for me it did :D
That's so clever!
The lyrics are inside a broom closet with a busted door knob, so you have to turn a phrase instead.
I’m sorry but what do you means by puns because searching up depression puns comes up with jokes about depression is that what you meant or am I just stupid.
what does buns have to do with music?
Is this how you wrote 'Water'?
I don't know what to say. Does anyone have any comment writing cheats?
Puns: Apparently the most powerful untapped resource of inspiration in the universe.
The world will tremble beneath our might, and none shall be left unpunished.
This is actually early on in "writing better lyrics" by pat pattison
yoooooooooooo i have that same hat man
My best lyric hack is to write it in Spanish because the verbs all end basically the same
I thought it was gonna be "bragging"
Cheerios,

How much I love
To give you to my primo’s (brothers)
