I've been loving these games where he goes all the way. Many times I think, is he just going to come close, but no his build works.
After renaming Fungun "Enter the Fungeon" I thought you would also rename Pyra to "Slay the Spyra" or something like that lol
That a was a fantastic run, and another true boss victory with a win streak of 5?! You're really making this game look easy (which is no small feat). I completely agree with your points at the end of the video, and I'm so glad to see things moving in a positive direction for Wildfrost's reviews. As long as you continue putting out Wildfrost runs, I'll keep watching them!

Reto, the people who say that your wins are based on RNG are sitting down and having a tall cold glass of COPIUM. They are the same people down voting the game on Steam for being "too hard" and while the game does look difficult due to multi turn planning. It by no means looks unbeatable due to bad rng. I feel like people want a game that you can braindead your way though.
Keep up the amazing content, and I hope to see more of this in the future.
I wonder if the cutesy art style attracted a lot of people who weren't as steeped in things like StS, Monster Train, etc, so the reviews reflected a much more "casual" audience than the game's difficulty actually balances to.

I think you could have got all the shroom kills on the last fight. The Jailer was dead, so Snoof could have moved to the top line and snowed everyone there, giving the shroom time to do its work.
Really great run! I would not have been able to manage that teeth fight.
My exact thoughts! The shroom would've either moved to the guy on the bottom row (and instantly killed him) and then moved on to the guy on top, or moved to the guy on top and that's another story
But I do agree it would've been possible

Thank you for the ending "rant" about the game difficulty! I have been struggling with this game a lot over the past few days and have really wanted to enjoy it. I agree that a lot of people are probably using snow to much (I know I am)

Great advice for people in the rerolling. Utilizing all your resources. I know for me, using character health as a resource makes me squeamish, but it's so helpful. It helps to know all your tools well.
@@IvanSensei88 Totally. And with multiple waves of enemies it's difficult to make that decision. I like how Reto really pauses, even if there's a card that he wants to play every time he sees it, and goes huh... can I wait 1 more turn? Some of it is RNG, spawns, and space, but even if you make a mistake with a resource, or the enemy is coming at you with that 6 hp attack on 5hp, you tried. Patience and accepting some losses and potentially non-optimal play has so reduced my anxiety. I used to be scared to lose even a unit.
The other day I made the mistake of running a smackback hero against my previous win as a smackback hero and stuck myself hard enough I decided to stack 1001 spice on my hero and one shot phase 2 of the frost guardian.
No way! I just defeat the actual final boss for the first time using a chilli build with this exact hero! The spice was so gooood with a barrage snoof with chillies stacked on top.
... just saw that Retro also put barrage on snoof... nearly identical run, jeez lol. .. he also applied frost too...

There is a phrase in Magic: The Gathering that I hear, that kinda fits your advise of using a turn to redraw.
"You don't HAVE to mulligan, you GET to mulligan." Effectively you're turning a nothing game into a potential win.

Playing fast sounds more like a challenge than a way to speed up things in this game

I am so happy that you keep playing also think about soing the daily runs from time to time. There are so many cool options in this game and I love to watch you figuring out your strategy
got the game this week, and im probably around two dozen tries in. It was so hard, I just tried doing the achievements. you make it look like an easy challenge on these videos, while I'm yet to win my first run lol
Ya know that people also complained about Inscryption Kaycee Mod's difficulty when it first came out, so did when Isaac: Repentance came out, and so they are now with this game. People don't understand the game, and maybe walking people's hands through their first run might've softened the push back, but as Retro said, people will get used to the mechanics and figure out how to win. I'm honestly surprised that so many people are struggling so hard with this game? Are they not reading the cards, doing the math, and thinking ahead? These are all essential skills for this game, and I guess some people are just not proficient at them. I know that when I loose runs, I'm either not thinking ahead or realizing THAT AN ENEMY HAS A FUCKING TOOTH CHARM! AGHHH. Anyhoo, I hope that the push back on the game will soften as time goes on and that the reviews will bounce up 😄

Unless the enemies had the snow protection, yes. It's honestly crazy that barrage Snoof is even allowed!
I'm thinking that each run gets a theme for it's added charms on enemies (this one was teeth, you've had demonise before) either that or the charm generation rng is VERY sticky :)
IMO your closing comments are part of what I feel defines a good Rougelike vs a bad one (or less good). RNG is part of the genre, and increasing challenge as one gets deeper...but balancing those vs. actual winability is what separates 'em. I don't want a game I can only win with good rolls, yet don't want a game that can be won regardless of roll. Corollary to that...don't want a game that has a "auto win button" with a specific combo...and that's the real tricky bit when it comes to balance and a good game.
Awesome cat fight. Maybe it should be made a bit easier, but core mechanics should stay the same cause it is truly unique experience.
Edit. Or swapped with one of act 3 fights.
Lumen vasing snoof in the last fight would have been an instawin. 4 frost and snow every four turns when alternating rows. It would permastun four enemies and set the barrage and aimless guys to 1 and 2 damage :)
Edit: nvm gotta get rid of the unmoveable guy first
2 issues with that
A) you can't move units in the last fight until jailer dies
B) snow resistant units absolutely do get to attack

funny enough you got the sometimes impossible layout for the mawjaw fight where you can just lose to aimless rng on multihit builds. basically if dude who is providing spikes spawns in a row with another unit like in your scenario then one of the units in that row roll any hp / shell / spike charm games are insta lost. out of my 50 or so runs thats happened 4-5 times drog killed a solid 8 of them early. Rest I managed to get rather far with. Lot of fun builds and variety for sure. No clue how they would balance awful layouts / charm synergies difficulty wise

Been meaning to ask, why does his started companion start with a crown?
You can add bells that increase the difficulty, and give you a little benefit :
- enemy can have charms, and they drop more coins
- wave of enemies come faster, but you start with a crown (on your pet)
- bosses are harder, but you have more option of items in chests (sometimes, it's a bit weird)
Do you think it would be possible to use a lumin vase on a lumin vase lol? Probably not but one can hope.
Maybe if you can copy it... But i dont think it would increase its functionality

Interesting that you couldn't put the charm on Fungun because he had 0 attack when it's clearly different than a no attack unit.
it seems that it requires 2 attack damage to apply, so 0 or 1 costs can't use it, which is a bummer but understandable enough

I i think the game just doesn't clic for me. I can't get a win with the first bell on. I 100% slay the spire and monster train but this game just always kill me for one turn misplay. Kinda fell like quitting it even though I really wanted to love it. I still watch your run though.

I've enjoyed watching these videos until I realized that I cannot realistically live up to chaining 3-4-5-6 combo kills, so I've kinda been turned-off of playing this great game :(
Chaining kills is 100% not necessary to win. It just lets you buy a lot of charms.
