Dear Fr Mike, Your homily hit close to home for me today. I just finished visiting with my elderly mom who lives alone, and is feeling very alone during this season. I too always feel that I am not able to do anything more to help her, because my schedule is too full. With your homily, I am making a new commitment today to love more those that I am closest too, especially my mom who deserves more of me… Know that I will be praying for you and your mother during this Advent season. May every listener to your Homily and this Liturgy, and reader of this message, grow to better know what it means that “Jesus is coming” and how to prepare our hearts for Him this Christmas!
I too live alone, with my son across the country. It is hard for me to even entertain the idea of flying out to see him. Which breaks my heart. A thought: have you examined your schedule, to see where some things are not truly that important to make more time for her?
I’m thankful to God for your presence , being allowed by God to bring Mass to us through this media. May you be continually strengthened to minister to us all. God loves you Father Mike.
Thank you Father Mike - for ALL you do to enrich our spiritual growth. So many souls are touched by your heartfelt homilies, I pray you are able to continue your journey of enlightenment for all of us. God is certainly working through you and your efforts.
God bless you father Mike. Praying so hard for you and your mom and all things that you have on your plate. God loves you so much beloved and you are more than worthy of a day of rest and saying no 🙏🏻
Even after november is done, I may continue to visit a cemetery to pray for the holy souls, and each day pray for all priests. With work, and being exhausted by the time Im off, I need to attend more Adoration as prior to this job.
“Make Room for Love”…Wow! The Catholic Community , exciting Joy!First VigilMass…First Advent…First visit of the Sick ( joined in pray..led The Divine Mercy) 🙏🏾❤️🙏🏾
Good morning. Fr Mike, your Homilies always hit home. Thank you for your inspiration and encouragement. Prayers for you Mom. Thank you for continuing the VFP. Blessings to all.🙏

Thank you Fr MIke for celebrating the Holy Mass and praying for us. "Hail Mary, full of Grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb Jesus. Holy Mary, mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death, Amen" My beautiful sweet Jesus, my eternal love, please bless Fr Mike and his family.
O Father!! Fr. Mike. You take on so much. You do so many things for the Glory of Our Lord. But don't feel bad to ask for help or to say no. I don't know how you even have time to sleep! In my own life, I've felt regret or the pulls from so many people and things and how it is important to love and be PRESENT. I am praying for you and your momma so much Fr. Mike. God protect you and Bless you today and always!! Amen! Happy first Sunday of Advent :)
Father Michael, Thank you again for a perfect message! And Please stick to your resolution: Say NO when you need to Say NO so you can have space and time for the ones you must say Yes! and we are praying for your mother as well as for yourself to be able to say NO easily when needed. God Bless you more.
I am thankful for another day in which I have the chance to learn how to love and better. Looking back I know how selfish I’ve been when I had worldliness at the center of my heart instead of God. Any day could have been my last like with an accident and I am just glad it wasn’t earlier. It’s time once again to be aware more than usual, almost like with Lent’s ashes.
I have been attending this virtual mass even though I didn’t need to. I went back to mass at my local parish and I was very glad I did. Very few masks, we are singing again and although no wine at communion. It was uplifting to receive communion again. Thanks to father’s homily last week. My local priest also had an inspiring homily about advent. 3 tips, go to mass, go to reconciliation and pray. I think Father Mike would approve. I’m praying for Father Mike. I hope he calls his mom everyday. He won’t regret those conversations. 🙏
Thank you for explaining and teaching God bless you and I will pray for you as you pray for me…….may God continue to bless you ……..your mom and family are in my prayers also…….please pray for the holy souls
When it comes to love or to give, think small tasks, i.e., the world will be a better place if we were there. So, the act of picking some small trash, or to give someone a helping hand, or just to let go off things that make us mad, or just donating our time to make someone smile, etc... are all good because of love.
I really hope prince would watch this. The homily of Fr. mike made me feel that my reason/side was deeply understood by the Lord. Thanks Lord for this comfort.
Having access to listen to Fr Mike's homily is one of the greatest blessings I have received during the COVID times. Thank you Father. I do go to mass in person, but I never miss your homily. God Bless you!
Fr Mike- Thank you for making your homilies “ children relatable “ - children understand fast food packets- very very helpful 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 God bless us- everyone
Thank you, Fr. Mike, for this crucial message and your precious time and efforts passing this out in this Homily. I hope and pray that your mom and family will be in the blessed care from our Lord, Jesus Christ. Same goes for others' moms family as well (including mine).🙏
Aw, Fr. Mike, I think about you and your mom almost every day and I pray that y'all have lots of quality time together as she undergoes treatment for her cancer. I know what that's like, my dad had over three years of chemo for colon cancer until he passed away in 2011. I miss him daily and always wish I could have one or two more days with him. I look forward to seeing him in heaven when I pass away!
Thank you very much for such a thoughtful message. Thank you for being there. We always get so much from your homilies. We appreciate all your messages the are so profound.
To God be the glory for everything we do out of love for the good of our family, relatives and friends specially by simply praying for them. May our loving, forgiving and merciful Lord hear our prayer. Amen. Thank you dear Lord for Fr Mike spending time with us in the Holy Eucharist with you. Help us dear Lord to keep holy through out the day. Amen.
As an over "yes" person, I have learned that I have stolen opportunity from other by saying "yes". So please remember that the every time you say no, you give another person the opportunity to say "yes".
I like listening to these. Thank you for posting them. I’m enjoying learning about this aspect of the Body. Thought after today- I would recommend The Life You’ve Always wanted by J Ortberg for “resting” meant in the way we may need as human beings. I’d also recommend Dr. Dharius Daniels “Putting People in Their Place”. I want to Love everyone, but see the need to prioritize. I like the idea of at least for Advent Season, saying “yes” to those I’m committed to loving. I want to ask God to show me really who these people are and strategically meet their “Love Tank” needs. I also want to recommit to praying for them. Nice homily and as usual, very thought provoking.
"Time is an illusion." Albert Einstein What a quandary; I am running out of an illusion!!! Great and thoughtful as always, Fr Schmitz. We are praying for your mom, your ministry, and your confrontation with the gremlin of overbooking yourself, a bane for many a viewer including the front pew parishioners in this household.l

Father Mike. You are a wonderful priest and human being. I have been worried that you were over worked. Have you considered training other priests or at least Newman Center priests how to reach people. You have a special gift but others can learn from your heart filled approach. I have a tendency to do too much as well!!
I offer this Mass up for all Priest's Moms going through Difficult Times due to health problems. Lord please Guard these Precious Women and Heal them.

Shinedown has a song called “How Did You Love?” I thought of it immediately when listening to Father’s homily.
Lyrics:
You can have a sound of the thousand voices calling your name
You can have the light of the world blind you, bath you in grace
But I don't see so easily what you hold in your hands
'Cause castles crumble, kingdoms fall and turn into sand
You can be an angel of mercy or give in to hate
You can try to buy it just like it every other careless mistake
How do you justify I'm mystified by the ways of your heart
With a million lies the truth will rise to tear you apart
Woah
No one gets out alive, every day is do or die
The one thing you leave behind
Is how did you love, how did you love?
It's not what you believe those prayers will make you bleed
But while you're on your knees
How did you love, how did you love, how did you love?
Nothing ever feels the quite same when you are what you dreamed
And you will never look at anything the same when you see what I see
How we forget ourselves, lose our way from the cradle to the grave
You can't replicate or duplicate, gotta find your own way
No one gets out alive, every day is do or die
The one thing you leave behind
Is how did you love, how did you love?
It's not what you believe those prayers will make you bleed
But while you're on your knees
How did you love, how did you love, how did you love?
This ain't no cross to bury
We are the judge and jury, we are the judge and jury
No one gets out alive, every day is do or die
The one thing you leave behind
Is how did you love, how did you love?
It's not what you believe those prayers will make you bleed
But while you're on your knees
How did you love, how did you love?
This ain't no cross to bury
We are the judge and jury
This ain't no cross to bury
We are the judge and jury
How did you love, how did you love?
How did you love, how did you love?
How did you love, how did you love?
How did you love, how did you love?
