I moved. I had black gold dirt. Now I have rocks with dust. Plus long hot days and cold nights. So I’m learning and cultivating what grows naturally here. I’ve got a good size strawberry patch and raspberry bushes. Haven’t found the wild blueberries yet. I have juniper, plantain, yarrow, mullion, arnica and still learning. I need chives. Lol Can’t wait for a greenhouse. Enjoyed the video 👍
Thanks! I divided my chives last year. Gave a few away and replanted others in my own yard. I did it in the summer, not the fall, so I guess it doesn't really matter because they're beautiful this year! I'd be interested in how you preserve the flowers and when to do that. I do it at the peak of the season before they start to loose their beautiful color for the blossoms. I like to harvest a bunch early spring before the flowers start and then I like to pick the more tender leaves. I harvest all the time :)
We love to tuck medicinal herbs all through my front flower gardens...roses for rose hips, comfrey, calendula, cat mint, echenecia, lemon balm, lemon grass, monarda (bee balm). We also have currents and an elderberry.
If I had my choice I would grow dandelions because they are beautiful, nutritious and great for salads, but my husband and neighbors think they are weeds. I also love nasturtiums because they are also great to eat in salads!
i have, in my front yard... among the more obvious plants french sorrel. plain sorrel. red veined sorrel (aka bloody dock, its not as tasty as regular sorrel but its PRETTY). good king henry. creeping thyme. daylilies (not regular lilies, and yes edible). "grape hyacinth" aka muscari (NOT regular hyacinth, although i have that too... only the grape hyacinth is edible.). Honeyberry (although they taste like blue berry a bit they are not related). current bushes as a hedge. Roses! (never forget rose hips are high in vitamin C, and rose flowers are edible too). mints... lemon balm. Echinacea (more medicine than food , but great for pollinators and birds). assorted herbs, too many to mention really. but rosemary, and oregano (oregano and sage are very decorative) Lavender! edible, medicinal etc. strawberry! great ground cover. regular and shade tolerant alpine. Chamomile clover hmm... oh i do have chives but i grow them more as insect repellent... Bearberry hosta (edible, but you may not want to) Ostrich ferns....
I need EASY landscaping. My only front bed has a Rose of Sharon, 2 yew, and a dead azalea that seems to be coming back. A friend divided her irises and shared them with me, so I added them to that bed. I have flowers in pots on the porch. Last year, I tried herbs on the porch and forgot to water them. This year, I have a container garden in totes that sit on chairs on the deck in back. Health concerns mean I was limited in how much I could do daily. I now realize one of each plant will not produce enough for preservation. Next year, I will focus on individual plants for consumption and multiples for canning and pickling. This is my third year of container gardening because my soil is too hard to work. However, I will look into building or buying raised beds this fall. I don't consume much from which I can build compost, so I plan to ask local restaurants or nursing home kitchens if I can have their vegetable scraps. I need to add flowers in the back to invite bees, too. I appreciate videos like yours to help me learn. I know I can increase my success as I keep learning and trying.
@@TheProvidentPrepper No, but I am really trying. My zucchini plants are only 6" tall versus the huge harvest a friend already got. The last 2 years, I harvested only 2 zucchini. Noah was laughed at when he was building a huge ship in the middle of the desert when they only had the morning dew to collect their days water from. He kept telling people there is a huge rain storm coming. Kind of like today, people make Yeshua a second thought, they didn’t believe him. After Noah, his 3 boys and their families were sealed into the ark by YHWH, the rains started. The rest were too late. They had many years to make the decision to follow Yeshua and repent but could not let go the world around them and they perished. There are many today that is not making the decision to come out of the world today, and just like in Noah’s day, they will perish as well. You need to believe that Yeshua came to earth as a man, died on the cross for your sins and rose 3 days later. You need to confess your beliefs out loud. You will need to repent and turn from your sinful life. Make sure you are diligently seeking Him and reading the Bible plus praying and asking for guidance what is real and what is not. Satan is putting up a lot of deception presently and if you don’t have the discernment you will not be able to tell what is real and what is not.
YHWH wishes for none of his children to perish. However, those that choose to not wake up are going to. They are lulled into feeling like everything is going to be ok, we are going through another rough patch. As I have said to my family, no matter how deep you stick your head into the sand to avoid seeing all the signs around you, it won’t change what is happening and going to happen. You will be caught off guard and unprepared for what is to come. You will perish for your lack of knowledge.
