    Love chives. The grow fast. I've been cutting mine back once a week the past 2 wks. I put some in salsa yesterday as an experiment, gave it a whole new fresher taste.

      We love chives too! Great idea since it does have a mild onion flavor! We added some to our twice baked potatoes last night. Have a good night! Thanks for watching! Misilla

      I have several spots of chives. They grow like weeds.i harvest them and drain dry then I cut them in small pieces and freeze them. I can put them in almost every recipe. Like cheddar biscuits, potato, eggs muffins. Stir fries etc!

    I'm new to gardening and I planted chives last year in a pot. They were so thin I thought they were blades of grass. This year they are so tall and obvious that they are chives and I was unaware that they would come back the next year 😀

    Sweet video, Misilla. I tried growing chives last year from seed, but something didn't go right (probably me) and nothing grew. Your video inspired me and I will give it a go again this year.
    Those chives looked GREAT!
    Thanks for the inspiration.

      You’re welcome Evan! Glad you found it helpful! Don’t bury the seeds too deep since they’re so tiny. Seed depth is 2X the width of the seeds. Have a great day!

    Just did this, what's the regrowth time like in warm weather?

    • @LearnToGrow1
      @LearnToGrow1  2 года назад +1

      Hi Ethan, They grow quickly as the weather warms. If it's very warm and dry make sure the soil is moderately moist. I cut back a clump last month and grew 12 inches in about 3.5 weeks, but it's cooler here in the PNW.

      So will those small clumps eventually be as big as the original was?

    • @dandsarahyrudder8650
      @dandsarahyrudder8650 Год назад

      @@herdsofhavanese9745yea the little bulblets are rhizomes and spread underground.

    Basically you have not gotten more chives.i thought you would divide one bloblet to get more chives.

    • @LearnToGrow1
      @LearnToGrow1  2 года назад +1

      I did divide one clump into 5 clumps which I divided again last year into 18 clumps. It’s a way to propagate to get more plants and yield bigger harvests.
