Finally someone completed the sequence of the few existing pieces for that thing. Well done, I think it would have made an interesting twist if they had used it once or twice before switching to the Delta Flyer. Nice touch to add the specific Voyager theme from the explorer's spirit during season 1. :)
There wouldn't have been a need for the Delta Flyer has the Aero Shuttle been used. What a waste. Quite the example of bad decision making for the show.
@@Cliff132NJ They could have used both on different occasions. No need to throw any of these two shuttles away. There was only one bad decision regarding Voyager, to end it after 7 years. They should have bad 10 years, a decade in the wilderness.
man say what u will about voyager they pretty much have the best ship designs in all of starfleet. nice sleek and fast look. this, the delta flyer... voyager...
It would have made MUCH more sense if the delta flyer was an upgrade of the aeroshuttle... so much more sense tham just design a ship from scratch and manufacture it...
I never liked the Aero shuttle or Captain's Yacht. They are too specialized. And if they are destroyed, then you have a big hole on the hull where they shuttle used to dock.
If they had this at their disposal it doesn't make sense they didn't use it dozens of times over the course of their time in the delta quadrant. Could have turned the tide multiple times in combat
I assume they were stripping Aeroshuttle for hard-to-replicate parts for Voyager herself (for instance, bioneural gel packs) and couldn't afford to lose it, so, they've had to resort to easy-to-replace Delta Flyers for everyday use instead.
One argument was the aeroshuttle was never completed so they docked it permanently. Another was that's not the aeroshuttle at all but hull plate to fill in for missing ship
This video isn't genuine, they don't add the music score until after editing the episode. It includes a shot of Kira and Dr Bashir (DS9) in a runabout and the impulse noise is a warp noise but cut short.
I remember something about them not using it because they didn't want to take away the reveal of the captain's yacht in 'Insurrection'. What a waste of time that was.
@@slighter "for some reason" Because the then-upcoming Star Trek: Insurrection had a captain's yacht, so they decided to drop it. Mojo and I did a whole launch sequence, on spec, meaning "free" and then had it shown to Rick Berman. The response: Mr. Berman thought it was nice, but didn't want to trump the captain's yacht launch sequence from the upcoming film Star Trek: Insurrection. As you remember that was a VERY dramatic, epic and cool launch sequence."
@@houstonhelicoptertours1006 Yep, so they wasted the captain's yacht in a terrible movie that served literally no purpose to the plot when they could have just used a shuttlecraft.
Not in any episode. It was cut from the series just prior to the release of Insurrection. Rick Berman decided he didn't want to overshadow the Captain's Yacht scene. So we just got the 'Delta Flyer' later down the road. That's just test footage.
Yeah, it's not meant to be the final version of the shots. These are hastily slapped together to show what a launch sequence would be like as a visual test before they go and make the proper one for the show. They just scrapped the entire idea and thus we never got a fully fleshed out version.
Nicely Done. The Aeroshuttle is one of the few things I would have loved seeing during the series.
Do the people in this Aeroshuttle look like Bashir and Kira to anyone else?
The main section of the Aeroshuttle was modeled after the Danube class runabouts on DS9, so it very well could be a still shot of them.
That's because it is Data and Kira in the test footage.

YMMV, for my money, voyager is the dumbest looking ship in star trek canon

Supposedly this episode would have come out after the Insurrection movie with it's Captain's Yacht launch. They didn't want to steal it's thunder.
deltaflyer was more advanced with borg tech in it

Love the design.
No sé dónde obtuviste este video, pero está genial
They probably scrapped it for parts, or integrated it permanently into the ship for extra power?
Which episode was the live action footage used from?
None, it was test footage to show what the sequence would be like
WoW! That was a cool looking shit. I wish they would have used it.
It would have made the creation of the Delta Flyer kind of unneccessary, right?
Lol that's data and kira nerys
Would be great if the shuttle went to warp at the end

Billy badass
I can understand why they scrapped it - would have been a pain to dock this thing again.
Not the reason at all.
It’s literally no different than using the shuttle bay or docking an escape pod or freaking landing the ship lol

Did they ever use this in the show? I know they had like 111 shuttles on that show.... and 5 million photon torpedoes
Nope, this is the test footage they produced. But for some reason they never used it.
