Worked for Ranger Boats in early 2000. Randy Hopper ran it at this time. Quality and perfection were a must. We only built Rangers at the time. The company was sold to Platinum Equity a few years later and we started producing Stratos and Triton boats and everything was still built by the same standards. I believe when Johnny Morris bought Ranger Boats and forced Randy Hopper and Keith Daffron out is when the quality went down. Most of the seasoned employees left and went to work for Vexus Boats that is ran by Hopper and Daffron.

Good issues got worked out. Think about this.. It's not Bass Pro Shops it's the people. Employees these days are just lazy and short cutters. You see that at any business. The same one that didn't properly address your issues are the ones that will go crazy when someone treats them that way. What goes around comes around. If you have a job do it to your best ability if you can't get another job.

very true! customer service these days doesnt exist. ppl have jobs but dont wana work! theyd rather collect a paycheck n never have to do anything to get it. thats about 95% of the young generation! there are some out there who give 110% but not enough! you cant pick up slack if youre busy doing your co workers job for them. come on entitled ppl do your job n put your cell phones away. its annoying at best for me to wait for your video or phone call to end. if im looking for customer service and youre a customer service representative i expect you to earn your pay just like i had to so i could buy stuff n keep you employed!!!

i purchased a 2019 nitro z20 right off the show room floor, purchased the warranties, tongue to motor package, thought everything was covered, took it out to the lake and the first thing i noticed was non of the gages worked on the console. the power poles would only go down half way then only one would come back up, those were covered on the warranty, however, the burned out trailer lights are not covered under the warranty. yup boat spent more time at the repair shop then in the water that first year. but i'm happy with the boat in general now that the bugs have been worked out i think bps could have tested the boat and trailer before selling it to me.

I bought a 2020 z19 from pros choice marine. First time I started to break in the outboard an alarm went off, took it to
Cabela’s cause it was closer and they’re a Mercury dealer too. Got that fixed under warranty. Boat ran great. Couple of months later the control panel for the livewells went bad bilge livewells didn’t work. Took it back to Cabela’s cause it’s closer to my house. Got it fixed. Year in got a stress crack on the top cap on the passenger side. Took it to pros choice got that fixed under warranty. Just the little things. But what finally got me was the trailer cross member cracked right at the tie downs. I was done. Sold it and got a Phoenix but glad you like your nitro. My z19 was easy to drive and very fishable but just to many issues for a new 2 year old boat.

I bought a 2021 Ranger RB 200. It was supposed to be an upgrade from my 2008 Tracker V 18. I’m a Crappie fisherman so I don’t need $100,000 boat. The 2021 had to be returned to the factory because of many issues. They gave me a 2023 with the exact same issues. It was not checked for quality when it left the factory. White River builds fast and expects dealers to fix them to not leak and to perform. Many dealers have poor quality mechanics that do not stay in one place long. These quality issues mean your boat goes back and forth to the shop. I am 65 years old and I am one of the sportsman that made Johnny Morris a 8.5 billionaire. He has turned his back on the working people and show boats all his professional sportsman to create more sales. If you call Ranger customer service, you will understand all the negative comments below. Yours truly, Still trying to stop my Ranger from leaking 3 years later.

I have a 2021 Covid-19 boat, its a Skeeter ZX150. Ive actually worked on it more than ive fished out of it. Its been back to the manufacture at 8 months old, humminbird graph problems, my Minn Kota trolling motor is in the repair shop as i type, now their is a problem with my Minn Kota 3 bank charger, the rear pole light was not wired, was just loose wires, my water pressure gage doesn’t work, the plastic under the dash is hanging down for some reason, my dealer is a POS, battery problems that they wouldn’t trade out, carpet coming loose in the rod storage compartments.

Here’s the real scoop with BPS… my sister was their TOP employee… not of her store or her district or state, but the #1 employee of the entire company!
I say this so that my words are heeded intimately. The DESIGN & ENGINEERING of all their boats are incredibly outstanding on all fronts. The problem lies in the manufacturing. You see, Mr. Morris wants to produce expensive and way overpriced boats to turn the biggest profits in the entire industry, and to do so, employees are instructed to use less materials, both resin or fiberglass, or both! As such, pretty much every boat they’ve made in the last 30 years has presented with problems varying from somewhat serious to extremely serious, and most of them leave you dumbfounded.
I can’t tell you how many Mako hatch doors she’d have in their service department that cracked when they were stepped on and when the customer brings them in, all they see is that they flex under load and cracks form on the inside.
What they never get to see is when the employees cut the inner gel coat lining, the raw fiberglass sheet(s) either have extremely little resin so it only wet the outer most layer(s) or in many cases, no resin was used at all because the entire hatch has a gel coat that’s a little more than .125”. My sister delivered boats to professional athletes from MLB, the NFL, NHL, and the NBA and they all had problems with their boats. Even their pro anglers who they give new boats to every year has these same issues, which is telling, that if they’re willing to do that with their own Pro-Staffers, what chance does a regular joe off the street have?
This is prevalent on ALL their boats.
When Mr Morris purchased Ranger, he told them they were to follow those same build practices and with many employees being their for decades, a few from the day they opened, they were appalled at what they were told and they said there was no way they were going to build boats that way because Ranger builds QUALITY boats, and they were told well, that’s the old way and from now on you will build them how I say.
The employees all looked at one another and most of them quit on the spot because they refused to conform to building boats they knew were junk.
Nitro Boats are built the exact same way. Take my advice and sell that thing as quickly as you can and never look back, or buy a pre BPS Ranger or something built the right way, and not overpriced Phoenix or the like that are Chop Gun built junk!
Do some research and buy from a brand that lays down complete sheets of raw fiberglass or/and Kevlar and properly saturates it all utilizing the appropriate amount of resin. Such boats last so long you can hand them down to future generations because they’re built like tanks! Ranger, Stratos, pre, 2004 Skeeter, Champion, and many others.
Good luck to you and I hope this helps everyone who’s thinking about wasting their money on a boat built by BPS.

Buy Lunds. Built by hand right here in northern MN. Except larger fiberglass boats. The hulls are made in Mexico.....but the rest is still done here.....this is where I worked before I started doing 2 guided trip per week....now I only use my pro guide or adventurer depending on lake size.....for example lake vermilion yesterday is one of MN larger lakes so I used my pro guide with a 125 hp tiller.....spider lake in Itasca where it's a 45 min drive down a dirt road I travel a bit lighter and it's a much smaller hidden lake. But you will catch a bass or northern every 3 or 5 casts lol even if your a first timer.....my 16 ft adventurer with a 60 HP tiller was my first new boat. And great for beginners....

I don't even shop at bass pro anymore. Bought a pole and it didn't last a week before it snapped mid cast. Their service is slow AF. They are worst than Walmart when it comes to opening registers. The only boats they have for sale at the one near me have their boats list 40k+. They don't sell the cheaper boats. There are way too many mom and pop fishing shops around to give some corporate company money that isn't deserving.

Bass Pro Shop as a multi billion dollar company just as well as white water. I purchased a 2022 Z20 Pro Package. I had my boat for about 2 months I would say I decided to wash and wax it. That’s when he’ll broke loose. Show room floor boat has 20 plus air voids wholes all around my boat. They even used touch up paint to try and cover it up. My live well hose was broken so the back of my boat was filling up with water as I used it. Yes I about sink the boat before I figured out the problem. I have replaced barons 3 times in a year of having it. You can actually take your finger nail and chip off pieces of the boat, it will just crumble in your hand like cereal. My trailer sounds like a bag of cans when I’m pulling it down the road, just sounds horrible. So white water said send it to our shop and we will fix the issues with the hull. If you just brought a boat for almost 70K I’m sure you wouldn’t want it patched up. So I can’t get my money back nor will they give me another boat to replace the defective one I purchased. I can go on and on about this story behind this boat but I’m not! Stay away from any tracker marine, bass pro, or further more Johnny Morris products!

KVD gets a new boat every year. My advice is if your planning to keep that boat for more than 5-6 years that trailer will need replaced again. Closed tubing framed trailers dunked into water will rust from the inside out!!! Better brands use C channel frame so paint can coat all services.

When you get into the bigger boats and bigger motors the differences start to stand out and some more significant than others. If I was to give someone my advise or my hindsight in the 17 footers. You cannot go wrong with any of the top brands. Max out the HP if possible, choose your personal electronics if possible and the best trolling motor. Gitter done!

I was told 4-6 weeks and it took 16 weeks total just to get the boat in. As you say everything is hindsight now as far as the coulda /shoulda done this or that.
I guess the moral of the story is if you do decide to buy a boat from Bass Pro, go over it with a fine tooth comb before accepting delivery and taking it off their lot. I don't know how their payment / delivery is set up of when you pay and how much, but I think they've earned enough of a bad reputation you don't sign the last paperwork on the loan / or hand over your certified check until it's delivered and you inspect it.

Im sorry for all your issues but my experience with BP is 180 out from you. I bought a 2021 Z18 pro from my local BP. #1, if I had the issues you had when the boat showed up I simply would not have accepted delivery. You would be amazed how quickly issues are resolved when the store needs to collect $50K & doesn’t … you also have to be aware of what things are installed at your local BP vs what the Factory (White river marine) does. First time out with my new boat the engine would not go to full power. Stopped by on my way home from the lake & they put it in the bay immediately & the next day my boat was ready. I had an issue that I caused about 8 months in & they got it covered under warranty. During the trailer bearing recall swap they noticed my bearings seals had started to leak. Trailer was 4 months out of warranty & they got WR to cover it under that recall warranty at zero cost to me. the main difference ? I have spent a lot of effort to build a great relationship with the service dept head & shop manager. I always give them stellar reviews which is a BIG deal for employees & the dept as a whole & since I’m on the water all the time we talk about where to go on the local lakes … just say’s. Check out MikeyBalzz fishing YT channel. He purchased a new 2022 Z20 & just gushes about it - again, he spent a lot of time building a great relationship with his local BP guys …

I’m in sales. It’s my career. I think that is what played a huge role in how I handle things. I’ve always hated people canceling a huge contract over small issues. If you read the bass majority of these comments on here, pretty much 90% say bp sucks and have dealt with something similar.

@@onealbassfishin well i didn’t say to cancel the contract - just make them deliver what you contracted for BEFORE you accept delivery. 90% of some dudes commenting on a YT channel who just love to bitch is not exactly what I would use to make a $50K purchase. It’s human nature that people who are happy about something rarely comment - it’s usually just the negative ones. I’ve talked to guys who bought $90K Skeeters & had issues too.

I’ve noticed Bass Pro coming customer service is horrible. I wanted to take my Nitro there to get it winterized last year and was told there was a 4 month waiting list. My response was oh okay, so do you notify me when should bring it in. And there response was no we will keep it here until we complete the work. I’ve also noticed since there’s no real retail competition in Maryland, they seem not too care. When Arundel Mills Bass Pro first open they kept shelves stock, customer service was a lot better.

I worked for Bass Pro as did the wife. It is about fast numbers, push ...... push ..... push go , go , go , go we would run boats knowing full well they were wrong or parts missing off the run. Shove it to the yard, tag it, flag it they can go find it later to fix or make it right.
The inspectors totally missed a drill hole through the hull - from a new guy using drill bits that were way too long. Thankfully someone did catch it and found and repaired all the hulls by welding the holes closed. But holy cow the stuff that was done to boats for the sake of hitting daily production numbers.

Never owned a boat but am shopping for one and will buy before spring gets here and I’ve shopped every boat from basstracker, nitro, ranger to you name it. If it’s in Louisiana if put my eyes and hands on it and have tested half of them. Nitro is by far less expensive than the top tier and I’d have zero hesitation in buying one. I’ve heard negative comments galore about Nitro and most of the people that have commented, about 97%, have never owned one, and the guys I know that own nitro have nothing but good things to say. They’ve told me that there was a couple minor things that needed fixing but 2 friends said their Rangers had the same amount of problems if not more. I’ve settled on a gator trax because aluminum holds up better in these parts and gel coats on fiber take a beating in south Louisiana, but if I went with a fiberglass boat, Nitro would’ve been in my top 3 and it would’ve most likely be in my driveway. I love mercury from being on my friends boats, solid and fast as hell. That’s my 2 cents anyway.

The new nitros are about $15,000 more than my 2021. With all my upgrades the boat was $46,000 out the door. The floor model in sanjose, ca is $46,000 lol. I’m super happy I bought mine when I did.

I am new to your channel and I watched this video along with the other ones pertaining to this matter. All I can say is, Ive been there. Not from purchasing a bass boat but a vehicle. And I absolutely understand where you were coming from and how it feels when you report the problems and feel they will be handled in a timely manner no big deal but then it takes months to over a yrs time to somewhat get things resolved when it all shouldve been checked and rechecked b4 u even picked it up. You did the best could could under the circumstances and I commend you for not losing your temper because trust me I did and on more then 1 occassion with my vehicle issue. This happens more then folks even realize and if we dont talk about them and hold pple or companies responsible then they get away with it. Its also good to report because it allows companies the chance to rectify things maybe that slipped thruthe cracks in the process of building it to begin with. Im glad you were able to go above everyone and get the issues resolved. I would report it though to the better business bureau and even email the CEO of the company. Let them know the struggle and lengths u had to go to. Because lets be honest many of us fishing are still going to shop at bass pro in years to come or attend their tournaments. So id email the CEO, and just say hey this is what occured, this is the lengths i had to go to and it fell on deaf ears and no communication as pple never followed up or responded and this is how i fixed it. But also hey this is how u could better ur staff in handling this kinda thing and maybe ensure it doesnt happen to someone else. Be it training, or a new checklist the impliment to go down everyones individual order b4 calling them, making sure bolts and things are tight, maybe they need to check it once b4 its sent to the store and then again at the store just to ensure everything is correct etc. Because had that piece come off (or both as the other one was close) and flew into someone windshield killing them, it couldve been a horrendous lawsuit both on you and bass pro. Heck if u lost graphs and navigation and were someone like me whos very new to boating and would rely heavily on them, i couldve caused an accident or something worse just by not knowing where the depths were or how to get back to the boat ramp. So id message the CEO. if u get an answer then atleast their learning, if not well id atleast thank the other companies for making it right for you. Thank you for sharing this, i appreciated it.

Your story sounds like so many I’ve heard about boat purchases from Bass Pro. When I was looking at boats, I checked out Bass pro and what they had to offer. Then I started reading the reviews. It wasn’t that the boats were bad, it was everything bass pro is supposed to do when they get them and prep them prior to giving them to the customer. It was just problem after problem. And all nickel and dime stuff. But enough to make me not want to purchase a boat from them.

Everyone has their opinion bud so who cares what people say. I would of handled it the same way you did. Things do happen that are out of our control and your a pretty humble guy so you went in the right direction in my eyes. I have a 1998 18' Champion that I absolutely love. I will keep my boat as long as I can and just change/rebuild the motor. Your boat is beautiful though. My Uncle has a nitro and he loves it. Your right Van Dam and other pro's use nitro boat and do just fine.
BTW I made 4 different color's of Senko's for you I call them the Delta colors. We just have to get them to you now. I launch out of Rivers end so maybe I can leave them with the cashier where you pay for your launch with O'Neal Bass Fishing and let them know they are for you so you can get them that way or if i see you on the water i can give them to you. They work better than most of the senko's I've bought because I spare no expense on scent and salt. Anyways bud happy fishing seen you out there one day soon.

Sadly, customer service at the high end companies has fallen of considerably over the years. If you have a local boat/marine shop near you where you can truly get to know the team, that’s your best bet for quality service. Good luck and tight lines.

I agree, I love my Nitro, but the Hamilton Ohio boat repair for Bass Pro Shops sucks. They’ve lied about making repairs to my boat when they didn’t on several separate occasions. At one time the head machinist Mike ran a excellent shop but, now since he left, it’s gone too Hell. I will never take my boat back there again. I love my 591 Nitro which I brought the year before they changed it to the Z18. And yes, like you one main reasons I brought it because of room on the front deck. ‘ Come on Bass Pro get your Shit together.’

This seemed like a serious headache, even heartbreak, if things like the fender falls off on the way home from buying the thing! I woulda been so unhappy. I can’t help but think the reason things didn’t get resolved quicker is cause of the covid mentality that hit industry. Cool that you worked stuff out but I bought 2 bass trackers , 1 aluminum and 1 fiberglass and will never purchase from them again. • @onealbassfishin
      @onealbassfishin  2 года назад

I think they sell good products but can take the hit due the corporate gross profit on everything else. I think that it’s the people who build them and sell them. KVD and Others are paid but they also wouldn’t fish unreliable boats.

I bought the boat from a dealer (bass pro). I fully understand that the manufacture (white water marine) built and shipped the boat to bass pro, but they are the people I signed with and gave $46,000 to. If you have time, I think if you made a video of "CHECKLIST WHEN BUYING A NEW BOAT" or similar would be of great value. Now I know to at least do the following BEFORE I sign final sales paperwork:
    - complete examination of trailer (I would only consider one with brakes also)
    - Complete examination of boat and make sure it starts
    - complete check on electronics
    - test drive boat!
