Reminded me a bit of the tennis court cake they made once. I'd honestly be up for more "we attempt this hard thing" type videos. Stuff that would usually be perfected over a long period of time, but obviously has to suck a bit at the first attempt.

This. I came here to exactly say this! I assume there was some video editing, but Laurie is so bubbly and fun and still gives great, clear instructions! We should all strive for this!
Laurie really shined here! It's amazing that you both managed to complete the assignment. Mike's cake looked best but clearly Jamie outdid him when it came to the filling.
I loved this episode. Laurie was so cheerful, easy to follow and ;encouraging to our hapless boys. Said boys did an amazing job. They used their imagination and both had beautiful results. I can't believe how many tips and tricks I learned just by watching 2 people with my level of cake decorating experience take on this challenge.
@@DancerMusicanActress She's a delight. I just finished the one with Ben. When the cake didn't turn out right, she found a way to fix it. She's so positive and fun.

I found you guys because of Laurie's channel. You did a phenomenal job of sorting recipes for her, and I love how you handled decorating a cake! Subscribed all round now.
I adore @theicingartist & it’s making my whole day to see this challenge. The cakes looked really pretty. Jaime catching a falling cake slice deserves a round of applause too. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Next live idea: Remote control chef with drunk Laurie, Poppy and Ben attempting to control the Normals. James and Uncle Roger judging. Their task: Make a potato-based pastry with rice-based icing.
Really loving Laurie's energy! Pity she's not in the studio with the boys, felt like there would be some awesome dynamic. I think she's based in Canada? Maybe a Canada trip soon? 😬
@@SortedFood If you guys come to Canada (depending on which side, because the country is big), I'd love to, at the very least, give you guys a high-five, just for the amount of entertainment and knowledge you've provided us over the years.

Seeing that you guys collab’d with Laurie was so exciting! I really hope you do more of these with her, maybe trying some of her other cake challenges (like the mystery decor options maybe?) and still have her there to guide you a bit. I would love to see how the next cakes turn out and if you really do make progress!
Loved Laurie, so upbeat and helpful, stayed positive and patient with Mike & Jamie (a real task...LOL) they did a great job, taking into account that Jamie struggles with colorblindness he did great. 🥰
I love Laurie and her energy sooo much!! She was so good with her instructions and super easy to follow. Also, she knew characteristics about the boys and made this episode awesome to watch! It also didn't feel like a forced collab, everyone was chill and just enjoying themselves. One of my favourite Sorted eps👌🏻
Seriously impressive for first-time amateur cake decorators! I don't know that I'd want either cake for a wedding, but I'd have both for my birthday. Well done!
You guys did amazing but Laurie is really the star with her instructions and great laugh! I would love to see you do one of these videos with Sohla and Ham El-Waylli. They had a series where they were given a mystery ingredient and had to do a full course meal, including dessert, featuring the ingredient. It was everything from coffee to peanut butter to a snack item. They’re definitely on your wave length of world flavors, improv and no food waste.
From my experience, I find it easier to cover by put the icing inside a piping bag and make a horizontal tubes of icing. Not only it ensures the cake won't be wonky, it also saves a ton of icing. Also if the buttercream icing didn't come neatly, you can always heat the knife and scraper to help it smooth out.
What a fun episode! You have me wanting to decorate cakes too. Also Jamie is iconic. “I safety dollop every meal that I have.” You and me both bro! 10:17
Awww, this one was sweet with the boys hugging at the end. They did a great job. I do love how she told them to use the flowers to cover up the holes and neither of them did 😅
As a self taught cake maker and a viewer of sorted food since the beginning, I’ve been waiting for a video with more cake decorating. Such a good video guys 😊
Y'all did very good for the amount of experience you have! Cake decorating takes a lot of practice. I hope that experiments and videos like this help people understand WHY cakes like this cost so much- they are time, material, and expertise intensive works of edible art.
Very cool having someone as a guest in a video via video link - it worked really well thanks to the quality of audio and video. And saves on carbon emissions from avoiding flights etc! Definitely keen to see more of this sort of thing.
I’m super impressed they did this in just a few hours. I am a cake decorator and cakes take a long time to make and decorate. There are very real reasons why professionally made and decorated cakes are expensive.
Great job. and wonderful guidance by Laurie. Thanks for the fun. So surprised Jamie didn't pull the 'color blind' when she mentioned the colors. 😂 Loads of fun and wow, that is not a scary thing to think to try out, hmmm
I love Laurie, so nice to see her on your channel. Years ago I followed one of her tutorials to make my son an Iron Throne cake, she's such a good teacher. You both did so well for beginners, I'm well impressed.
First time viewer and new subscriber, coming over from Laurie's channel. I really enjoyed the interaction between your channel on this video as well as the advice for Laurie on her Passion Fruit Cake. Great spirit and energy between both channels.
I love how you can tell Laurie is a genuine fan of Sorted making in jokes.
Considering that was their first time, Jamie and Mike did an amazing job. I'd love to see more cake decorating from other members of the team.
A really good job huh!
@@SortedFood How about Mike and/or Jamie vs Ben?

@Ryushiro Kazuhira I'm pretty sure Ben did Barry's wedding cake, so he has a decent amount of experience. It would not be very fair.
