If anyone could find a full version of Ronnie singing The Wild Rover, tell me. i have seen the one at St Patrick's Day here on youtube, but there's got to be an old recording somewhere
I have I doubt. If this was recorded in 1965 and there were named as "the Dubliners" already...........anyone could tell me why Luke Kelly wasn´t there. Just curious. TIA
Luke Kelly left The Dubliners in the early 1960s - possibly 1963 -after the group was named and before their first album was even released, which is why it is called The Dubliners with Luke Kelly, as he couldn't decide whether or not he wanted to be in a group or not. Bobby Lynch and John Sheahan joined around this time and feature on The Dubliners' second album In Concert, released in 1965. Luke Kelly rejoined the group after that and John Sheahan stayed on, but Lynch left. Incidentally, they featured on a programme called Ballad Session on RTE around 1963 or 1965, still billed as the Ronnie Drew Group, with the lineup of Drew, McKenna, Bourke, Lynch and Sheahan. That clip can be found on RUclips.
These four pats are the most interesting videos on RUclips.
