A diver filmed a unique encounter with a pod of playful Orcas.
Luis Alvarez, 22, captured the amazing encounter with the stunning animals in Espiritu Santo Island, Mexico, on January 21.
Luis was sailing on a boat with some friends when a pod of two orcas and a calf came close.
The group jumped in the water and Luis captured the encounter with the majestic animals, who swam playfully around them.

Literally the only time you can swim in the open ocean and be 10000% you wont be eaten or attacked by a shark because any shark remotely close to you would be going at absolutely full speed in the opposite direction.
🎯
Yes cause the orcas will destory them lol
Like having bodyguards lmao
What is so much more interesting is that Orcas hunt and prey on animals 5 times larger than us. Yet we have no single recorded instance of an orca attack on humans...ever.
Took the words right off of my thumbs. Sharks do NOT want that smoke. Their ass is grass lol
Orcas: *kills everything on sight*
Orcas when they see human: Hi bro, how are you ? :)
Tbf they dont eat everything on sight. Orcas are very picky eaters
Imagine swimming with the apex predator of the ocean, what an honour
Mhm
Just one apex predator to another. Both non-threatening and simply curious of each other.
@@LittleMissV calling humans apex predators is kinda cringe
@@qwerty_9922 technically we are, we have the ability to hunt and kill anything on the planet.
@@qwerty_9922 we are though
aww those baby orcas were so curious of the divers. And the adults seemed to keep their distance, but allowed the babies to continue to play. I love this
I am so JEALOUS of these lucky people swimming with my favorite mammal in the entire ocean, I wish I could.
I get anxiety when the camera appears to look down. Knowing it’s an endless depth below me full of things that could undoubtedly rip me apart.
It's not endless. Just very deep 😉
Ya that wake could grab onto one of your limbs and take you down to the the bottom of it wanted
@@carador9286 Oh yeah I'm sure that would calm him down!
@@sfb4144 🤣
Strongest creatures arent so deep, so dont worry
If a great white shark had been near the divers, those orcas would have killed it on sight. There has been stories of orcas protecting people from sharks.
No shark would appear within ten miles of these Orcas. They're terrified of them
Fr lol but the sharks have ptsd from orcas lol they are their worst nightmare
No shark would ever be in the 10 km radius within an orca. They are scared shittless of them. And rightfully so, orcas are the apex predators of the ocean.
actually. in deep open water great whites have one advantage over Orcas. the advantage is that White Sharks can swim much deeper then orcas
Wild orcas have never hurt humans in all of recorded history, despite being apex predators.
Dolphins in general rarely ever kill humans intentionally
@@poggerwhite dolphins have a lil Napoleon In them, I mean imagine these things being your cousins lol
Why do you think that is?
Isnt that bullshit?
@@qwerty_9922 no it is not. there is no recorded death of which orcas are responsible for
I feel like the reasons whales / dolphins don't attack humans is that they understand we are smart as well and they have learned/ or heard stories of what humans have done in retaliation or have been able to do
And they're smart themselves
And we probably taste bad to them honestly.
They also probably tell each other stories of when humans have helped them too. They probably debate on whether we are dangerous or not
Awe those humans are so cute
This was literally breath taking. Hands down best thing to come across my timeline in a while! 😭😍
Just like Dolphins, Orcas are playful and gentle to Humans in the wild.
Its very interesting Orca's don't attack humans. They must know not to if you think about it, If they collectively know we are dangerous. That implies a collective intelligence which is either passed through communication / DNA or both
They know we are fish and we aren’t what they eat, they use echolocation like dolphins and whales do.
They have their own languages from one pod to another.
A central component of social intelligence is recognizing intelligence. We know orcas have self-awareness (they pass the cross mirror test) and high social intelligence. It's possible in theory they pass down the knowledge of us, culturally or genetically, but it's not needed to explain the lack of aggression, they could simply be recognizing our intelligence
these people are crazy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! CRAZY
Wild orca somehow never attack human. I saw a video clip that they swam pass 2 little boys. They are extremely intellgent. Their thinking of avoid getting human hostile toward them. Leave human alone so they wont hurt us =)). They understand that.
True, they're very playful
or we just aren't on their diet, orcas have evolved to hunt specific prey.
Orca: "Too much fur, not enough fat. Not a tasty snack, but still fun to watch."
That young orca is curious one - look how many scars does it already have! And of course came so close to the other adventurous being. Beautiful memories for both.
Such an amazing animal. Need to be protected at all cost
I would cry of joy
Fuck that, if I saw that while swimming my first thought would be “this is how I die”
That’s amazing 🤩
i imagine back in the day when people used to hunt whales, and failed the hunt but injured the whale, orcas probably came in to reap the benefits, causing a feeling a comradery, even today when whales get stuck in fish nets, orcas probably look at that as a easy catch
These people are nuts. I love Orca. And I love Bears too but it doesn’t mean I’m going to go into their cave and have a photo shoot with them.
Well, Bears have been PROVEN and documented to harm, kill and even eat humans and your love for them won’t change that. A wild Orca has NEVER attacked, killed or eaten a human.. More humans have been attacked by squirrels than Orca.. Wild Orca are documented as being extremely friendly to humans
I would have shit and pissed if a freakin huge orca popped up next to me like that.
being next to one is a once in a life time experience. it's almost like being blessed. orcas don't bother or attack other people in fact you are safer wtih them around in the ocean cause other predators stay clear away.
I just imagine sharks and orcas becoming those radioactive things from man eater imagine that like they aren’t there to hurt anybody but like just imagine a giant female male or newborn shadow shark swimming up to you and give you a nose tap
Man that is I must say pretty damn amazing! Definitely fascinating but terrifying at the same time!
This was a fantastic video. Good job guys, all off you. I don’t know if you meant to take this but if you were just a group of friends enjoying a day on the ocean that’d make this even more amazing and I bet you’ll never forget that.
I love Orca's so much its really sad that as kind nap for our own self intrests
They dont attack because they are programmed not to attack to unusual prey. They dont love us or respect us, stop being emotional and childish
Orca always fascinates and terrifies me. This fish is a pack of hunter perfected by nature. Whenever they get close to human I don't think they are being nice. To me, they get near human to gauge if this creature (human) a potential prey or danger. When humans are neither of those, they just swim around playfully until bored.
They use echolocation like dolphins and whales so they know we aren’t what they eat or we aren’t fish.
Orcas arent fish, theyre cetaceans which includes whales, dolphins and seals
They are not fish. Orcas are mammals. And they use echolocation. They know what we are from miles away, way before they can actually see you. They don’t need to gauge shit lol
Seals aren’t cetaceans. They’re pinnipeds.
Orca be. Like: whats that on your feet? Whats that on your face. Can i see that…
Just glad this was the friendly Orcas and not the a-hole ones.
The only dangerous ones are in captivity, which they have a reason to be because that’s not where they belong.
@@deondraemorris7603 There's dangerous roaming orcas that live up to the name of killer whale as they kill doplhins and other whales, dolphins will hang with the native orcas to avoid them as the roaming ones and native orcas avoid each other.
Orca: "Look guys, the aliens came to visit"
😂😂😂
But if I’m sincerely honest in my humble opinion, without being sentimental, and of course without offending anyone who thinks differently from my direction but rather looking into this serious matter with a perspective distinction and without condemning anyone's point of view, I honestly think and feel that I have nothing to say
Damn you had me in the first half not gonna lie.
XD
An absolute honour
This is awesome!
Opportunity of a lifetime and quite the rush too I’ll bet! 🥰🙏❤️
This is literally my dream... full out dream !!
Yo when she jumped in I was like yo she a #G ilove orcas I would have done the same thang period
The one normally approach human first is the matriach. The second want to play with her human friend is the eldest daughter.
😍😍😍😍😍🐳🐳🐳🐳🐳🐳🐳
Despite their behavior and reputation..yes they are apex predators but dolphins are dolphins and like cats it doesnt matter the size lol.
My Soul Would Leave My Body
A little reckless in my opinion... They are at complete mercy of those orcas.
But in the wild, they're not dangerous for humans
@@a.g.demada5263 yeah u never know when an animal can become aggressive though...
@@johnrotten3268 they become agressive only if they feel themselves in danger
@@johnrotten3268 dont kidnap their babies and lock them up in a giant fishtank and they wont bother you simple as that

Crazy these apex killers don't mess with people
Sometimes it’s better to be curious. ;)
Look how deep the water is. How much space they need just to move naturally. They’ve no business being in cages. Unless they need to help. We have no business putting them in cages.
Muito legal 👏👏👏😃
the dudes just vibing with Orcas
Safe to swim no sharks !!!!!!
It’s pretty safe swimming with sharks too
@@jasontownsend9460 yeaahh no, I will take orcas anytime of the day haha
Wow that is crazy
Wish I had the balls
They probably think humans are gods.
But if one grabs your arm/leg and playfully drags you into the deep,
What then? All fun and happy until..
Not in the wild
👍😍😍😍

My dream
ME ASES UN PASTEL
Wow how amazing even if they attacked me that's how I wanna die.
Orcas are dangerous but only in captivity :v In the wild, they are just big dolphins
Well good news is that wild orcas will never attack humans. They are incredibly intelligent and know not to mess with us. The worst wild orcas have ever done to humans is splash them and misdirect boats. They even follow fishing boats because they know it will lead them to food.
That's immature. These are apex predators. You don't want them to learn to hunt humans.
Bro, S H U T
@@lizardsrus549 sigh
@@MightyFrostDragon lol
Orcas never kill human in wild, they are dangerous only in captivity. In addition, orcas only eat what their mother taught them to eat. For example, orcas can be observed dropping the "wrong type of seal" or the "wrong salmon".
@@Cocoon_Memelord they are very intelligent and have different personnalities. I wouldn't be surprised if people encounter some very agressive or too curious pods. For the second point, you just reinforced my statement. You don't want them to "learn" to hunt humans
