But at the Dealership we actually refer to that part as a bumper closeout panel. what you can do if you have a Sport or Sport S . is thke them off and order the ones either through Mopar or Quadratec for the Rubicon with the plastic bumper and bolt them on. . Gives a nice finished look and protects the fog light and wiring. part numbers are 6KL10RXFAA and 6KL11RXFAA
Iv been looking for a video that shows how to get rid of those ugly things. Thanks for posting this how to video. This is going to be the first thing I do to my Sport when it gets delivered.
Thanks for this! Very easy to remove, but just a quick question... I do prefer the look of the air dam removed but want to double check it’s not needed for anything other than aerodynamics/fuel economy. To me, it sits too low, and it just looks meaner with it off... I’d like to keep it off! Thanks!
It's one thing for the wires to get wet. But another to have road grime and water flung at it constantly while driving. I'm inclined to do the cutting of the cap
@@pierrotleblanc3449 It's a sealed connector. There are dozens of them under every Jeep and every other vehicle on the road today. Road grime isn't getting in. You realize the ABS system has sensors at each wheel, right? They literally can end up under water. They use the same style connector.
Thanks for the video! Just like other people are saying mine did have the fog light and wires exposed without this fender extender. I just got a jigsaw and cut out the outline that comes out past the back of the bumper and screwed it back in. It made a perfect cap for the wires without the ugliness of having to see it.
It’s called a front bumper end cap closure panel. I recently put on 35” wheels on my 2019 wrangler JL unlimited Sport. I do have a 2.5” suspension lift so I was surprised that theyre rubbing against this stupid panel. I was just going to remove it but the wires would be exposed. I recently saw a blog where someone cleanly cut flush with the bumper to allow the clearance, so I went that route, since I’ve searched up and down looking for a cover to go over the wires only in lieu of this stupid end cap flare piece and can’t find a thing. Hoping these aftermarket companies come out with some sort of cover for the stock bumper, but for now, it looks great and no more rubbing!
@Quadratec: Finally did this today on my ‘21 JLU. Others have mentioned cutting up those panels to re-use them just to cover the fog light wiring. Call me lazy, but do you folks offer a precut aftermarket cover to go back on there? Something I can pay for that has finished edges rather than carve up this free plastic piece?
Hey! Great video, I’ve been wanting to take off my splash guard on my 2019 Jeep Wrangler JL but noticed the fog lights are exposed? Is that normal or a problem of it rains etc?
I think you're better off taking a Dremel and cutting out what you don't need that way you can secure the panel back on and leave the fog light wires in cased.
Agreed I did that and mine came out perfect as if it was factory made it my Jeep came like that. My JL 2019 Sport S unlimited now looks like a other Jeep trims. Super happy with it. I even spray painted the hooks red that makes it look like a whole new bumper.
@@alessandromanglaviti8383 you can put them back on a very carefullllllly use a razor blade and just trim around with 5 light passes and cut them off and be left with the covers - very easy to cut and keeps the lights covered
I bought both the left and right enclosure panels for $11.99 each. I'll cut those and and keep the ones it came with whole (for resale?). The shipping was more than part!
I'm so glad for this video! When I get home from my work trip I'm yanking these suckers off mine. But I'm not sure why, but I'm pretty sure mine is held on with a handful of hex-bolts (one has a fastener clip attached) and the panel that accesses the fog lights has just a plastic panel-clip. Does that make sense?
Mine didn't have the torx screws. They were all 7mm bolts. Jeep must still be tweaking things. It looks way better without them. I think I can improve it a little more by trimming these to cover the wires and to cover some of the exposed bumper brackets.
My JL arrived at the end of July. I'm currently removing the plastic pieces today so that my tires don't rub at full steering deflection and like yours, mine does not have the torx head machine screws, they are the 7mm ones.
I couldn't find anyone selling some sort of replacement panel...so I guess I will be cutting up my old ones. Does every Jeep that does not have the fill panels have a completely different bumper (with lights covered somehow)?
I removed mine. Hated them....but....now the back of the bumper looks like crap and the wires for the fogs are indeed exposed as has been mentioned. Rob says in the video “please leave comments below for us to respond” and yet they’ve not come back and answered this question. How’s come? I got looking at a Sahara today on the back side of the bumper there, and see there’s a plastic shield that clips into place to cover up the lights and such, BUT it appears to be a different shape and will most likely not fit on the Sport bumper. I am going to go to a Dodge stealer next week and talk to a parts guy about one of the Sahara panels and see if it fits.
I did Lisa. I bought the pieces for the back of the Overland bumper. They are a slightly different shape, and with some minor cutting and some self tapping automotive screws (with large washers on them) I made them look like it came with the SPORT model. 😁
I put 35in tires on my 2021 jl and these inner fenders jeep rubbing so I trimmed both left and right side, but at this point it’s almost better to just taken them off. Should I do it?
Thanks... I just installed on my JL the LT275/65R20s that I had left over from the Ram 1500 that I used to own use 1.25" thick wheel adapters. They rub when turning too sharply and this might just be the solution that I need to correct that.

So on my 2019 JLU Sport interestingly they were all 7mm instead of T25 Torx, which is fun when they are two inches long with a ratchet in 31° cold at night lol
