does this hurt anyone else's soul when people make videos like this?
I almost cried...
raider steel My heart was weeping everytime she dropped it.
Hell yeah it hurts
I cringe every time this thing hits the floor
Miguel Lopez too beautiful for that to be treated as such lol
Its amazing how many people will buy a $900 phone but won't buy a $10 case
Yet they showed off the woman using a fully covered up S7 with a case at 1:40.
Torrey Ellison i like how the ad says... unbox your phone. And yes the s8 looks beautifull.
But being so fragile we need to box it in again with a case :P
I ordered case before my phone
urban armour gear?
i have just odered a clayco hera case, do you have any experience with them .?
I got one and so far it's good
It's not exactly a realistic test if you reuse the phone from the last test... the last test affects the next one
because you only drop your phone once? how could they be so silly
PageArts Entertainment dang! They forgot to put into thought that after everyone drops their phone, you get a brand new one.
PageArts Entertainment I thought I was the only one that got accidental drop protection. it's 60.00 a month but I do get a new phone every time I drop mine with a 249.00 deductible
Luis Munguia you butthurt, apple fanboy
PageArts Entertainment I know the iPhone is already broken out of the box because its an iPhone so its like an old android in child mode :0
10% of comments: Something rubbish about apple
20% of comments: Unfair test.
70% of comments: People haven't seen a pregnant lady talking
Konstantin Malaev you forgot about the 1 percent of comments talking about the percentage of comments
Konstantin Malaev 1 percent you complaining
less than 1%
Saw that at first sight😂
BREAKING NEWS: Glass breaks when dropped onto concrete.
you're buying a 750 to 850 dollar phone. Don't be an idiot.... put a case on it
robert haibi Well it is covered in Gorilla Glass 5, which seems like it should hold at 3ft.
Haochi Zhang My old phone had Gorilla Glass 3, I've dropped it several times and it hasn't scratched, much less shattered. I know it's not an exact science, but still.
robert haibi isn't exactly glass, but for those clumsy people should get a phone insurance
I just got my replacement Galaxy s8 plus in
the mail. My phone was in the slot on the side of a car door. I opened
my door and the phone fell out hitting the ground, a flat surface and
shattered my screen. Only a 2 foot fall, and it had a phone case on it !
What the heck ! Only had it a month ! I did
get a replacement since I had insurance but a $200 deductible. ugh
Gina Lethco Wow, again. 2 feet seems like it should hold to me, but it is what it is.
I hope I don't drop mine in the toilet when I take it in bathroom with me.
Eventasy at least it waterproof lol
taking your phone to the toilet makes you a filthy skank.
Vernard Waldrop *Water resistant
I always drop mine in toilet after taking a huge dump. Still going strong after 27 dunks
Eventasy u beautiful
Why buy a $900 phone but not put a $3 case?
Danyal A. Why buy a $900 phone if you can't even use it without cracking on the first drop without a case
Kylie Jenner Kardashian
Why buy eggs if you're not going to use an egg carton? Cartons help keep the eggs from breaking. Ok, so eggs don't go with you everywhere, maybe a poor example.
Would you put your car and house keys in your poket with no key ring? Key rings help keep keys from getting lost. Hmm, also not a perfect example, bc phones don't easily get lost, right?
So... Is it smart to put sunglasses in their case when their not being worn? The case helps keep them from getting scratched/broken and helps them from being lost. But alot of people don't use them. Why is this?
Because most things in life have a purpose. But many people are 1. Too lazy to acknowledge their importances. 2. Too ignorant to know their purposes. or 3. Too pompous to care for their aesthetics.
Let me know if I'm way off base here... Maybe there are more reasons?
They are working on making the glass stronger... 2 years ago I could say, why buy a $700 iphone if it will break the second it drops into water?
To prevent this people used cases to give extra protection to their phones. 2-3 years from now glass will be significantly stronger and it will not be as much of a necessity.
becuase naked is always feel better.
Ricky Hall You didn't get the point did you?
The point here is the price and looks. You're paying $900 ($1000 in some places), you expect your phone to be sturdy enough so it won't break. This is not our problem, it's the companies problem, why they didn't use the right material?
Then their comes the looks. There's no denying that S8 is a really beautiful phone. But what's the point of that beauty, if it's going to be covered up in a case for all time being...? Does it makes sense to you?
Those curved edges do look beautiful but what's the point, if you cannot hold the device firmly? And for that, you have to use a case?
I have an S7, so I'm talking with experience!
The examples you gave are also stupid.
Eggs are meant to be broken, they're not pricey.
House or car keys won't break if they fall.
People don't use cover when wearing there sunglasses. They use the covers when sunglasses are not in use. So if I put my smartphone in a cover when I'm not using it, it's ok. But if I have to use that cover while I'm using it, what's the point of that beauty? It's already hidden...
Aw shucks. Samsung didn't copy the patented iPhone cracked screen trademark.
and the back one is not expensive to replace, the front cracks means $200
how much does the back cost
Hieillua and is easier to replace too. You can watch it on the JerryRig video
Ya they did. Techrax dropped it on its screen and it broke the first time. We cant have just apple getting that feature. The fanboys would be pissed!!
lol
dont break please give me
#StopThePhoneAbuse
Lego Dinosaur 😂😂😂👍
Lol
All phone lives matter!!!
Damn cellphones are almost 1000$ and they still can't get them to be fully unbreakable. Call NASA or put some carbon fiber on the damn things. In my opinion. I will no longer spend so much in those damn things.
As a S8 user this is making me scream
I am still using it
I only have the first crack at the back
All phones should have metal backs instead of glass. I just don't understand why phone companies are going with this trend of glass back. Glass is always more fragile than metal.
GAMING HUT HD Metal back is still going to get scraped up and dented. You also lose wireless charging.
GAMING HUT HD wireless charging
With that logic though, one could ask why all phones don't have polycarbonate (plastic) backs. They are generally better at absorbing impacts and are more durable in many ways in comparison to metal and glass, with the added benefit of allowing wireless charging unlike metal. The downside is that most people thing they look cheap and not as pretty. Same thing with glass, it's mostly for aesthetic reasons (and wireless charging).
LG V20 has a mil-spec drop rating and made of stainless steel. It's a phenomenal phone and people act like it doesn't exist. Go check it out. It also has very small bezels, which LG is sorta known for but never bragged about it.
Wireless charging.
Design a beautiful phone just to then cover it all up, makes sense.
clear case is a thing
so then make the phone out of plastic
ShadowWarrior114 true but when you drop that beautiful phone and realize it's 400 to get the fancy screen replaced by Samsung or 2-300 to get an insurance replacement which you're paying an extra 12 bucks a month for..... I don't think a nice yet slim case is a bad idea
ShadowWarrior114 or buy a clear gel case for it? Spigen make top slim ones!
tradeoff of wireless charging, I'm sure iphone 8 will have glass
Buy a case. End of story
TDM170 depends on which case you buy
so breaking it is better than covering it ?
End of story. Except not really.
I bought a case and It still broke.
I've had this phone since it came out and had a case on it, I've dropped it multiple times on concrete and I haven't had any damage to the phone as of yet
@@MrMagikMon Ik your comment is 6 months old but can you tell us what case you've been using? thanks
I remember the day when drops and hits like this were just regular wear and tear, and caused zero functional damage.
Samsung is still better than Apple Garbage
Prabash Paul C.P.3
Says the person where their phone might blow up and lagged by shitty Android optimisation lmao
Prabash Paul C.P.3 I didn't know that Samsung used apple's chips
Matthew Gonzalez Apple uses Samsung's chips. Samsung's chips (Exynos 8895) actually perform better than an A10 chip. However IOS is just amazing at optimisation...
You have low-end android phones and you have high-end android phones. It's a choice in price we can make. My galaxy j3 lags a little on heavy apps.
Tja Videos Lel I have probably the worst Android phone. It's around 60 bucks. It has 1gb RAM (However I rooted it and made my external storage into VRAM) so technically I have 3gb ram 😂. It also has a shitty CPU and GPU (MTK6580 and Mali T-400) It has a fingerprint scanner and a 5.5 inch 720p display. It has pretty good speakers for the price and I don't game much. It was installed with Stock Android 6.0 but I currently have Android Nougat (lineage OS 14) on it and it runs amazing fast! And it looks beautiful because I customised it with a minimalistic feel using Nova Launcher, Icon packs, Zooper widget and many more stuff.
I just splurged on the new S8, and after seeing your tests, I'm not taking it out of the box.
We all would have liked to have seen the "dunk through the basketball hoop test" and the "drop from the
Next time you guys plan to destroy a killer flagship for fun, try mailing me one first
I dropped my s8 plus screen down a total of 2 times with an otterbox symmetry...
It cracked both times.
How many S8 can you buy after destroying a S8 on RUclips?
hornetluca 3 and maybe a case, so you wouldn't need to buy more.
Watching this on s8 right now!!!!
S8 to me* : don't you dare
Me : hmmm... but it looks fun
PLEASE BRING MOLLY WOOD BACK HUHUHUHU I MISS THE TORTURE TEST!!!!!
Nayeon Unnie start doing it with your phone...lol
Even if the phone wasn't mine I couldn't purposely drop such a wonderful piece of equipment
I like how you keep using the same phone.
exactly, which is not fair but at the same time it is not a real test
Wilde Chaplin everyone does the same thing though
Cnet on a budget
I use a case sometimes, not all the time. I judge how often I will be in a place where I could drop it harshly.
Who else is smart and buys a case
Who else is stupid and buys a beautiful phone, only to cover it up with an ugly case?
Turd Ferguson people who want to preserve its beauty and are willing to pay a fraction of the cost
there's no case out there that protects these edge phones enough. if it lands screen first, its a 50/50 shot that your phone is screwed. Even otterbox.
I just dropped mine with a case on. The screen cracked😊
I have a super tough case, I dropped my phone from one foot and it landed on some small stones and smashed two parts of the glass and has broken the screen causing a huge black hole and lots of white parts and a purple line across the Screen. The repair costs £300...
Is she pregnant?
yep
Irwan The Adventurer No it's just pillows
Nope, she is just fat.
Judging by your picture I think you're ready to have her baby delivered
John Dizon nope your just a loner with no friends
That's why I love Samsung phones, idk if other android phones do this, but even when the screen and/or back of the phone cracks.....you can nvr feel it in everyday use. no protruding glass shards, no glass in your fingers, no crunching sounds of the glass moving. apples double ionized glass or whatever it is....just can't say the same.
Anyone who doesn't use a case with an expensive _all glass_ phone is fcked in the head.
There, I said it. Deal with it.
Mamo not even close to offensive, its common sense
It would be sad if someone COULDN'T deal with your comment.
This is almost as realistic as it get's actually better
that first drop shows there's vulnerability in the back glass at 3ft and the rest of the test shows that the screen can take a few beatings.
Well built phone indeed.
ahhh no it's not, my wife dropped hers 3 days after we got it now it's gotta be replaced freaking beyond pissed
I'm in the same boat...I had mine in a Spigen case and the back cracked, can I ask how you are going about getting it replaced? Did you buy insurance with yours? I got mine from Best Buy but did not buy any insurance so I'm wondering what my options are in this case.
We keep insura vs on our phones & we ordered from Sprint, so now we gotta pay the replacement fee of $200
insurance
DJ Fullerton This phone came out 1 day before you posted this comment.
We pre-orded ours & got ours on Wed before they were released.
I have an 8+ with a Samsung case. I dropped it from the rear pocket. The phone fell out of the case and my screen cracked. No metal in front means the glass breaks (or at least in my case). Again, in a Samsung ($40-$50) plastic case that covered the entire phone. I now use a Zagg Saphire that sticks to the entire front of the phone for protection. Zagg produces the only one out there that will actually stay on. All the rest have glue just on the curves and that doesn't work, ever.
Never had a phone drop scare, probably because I have an Otterbox Defender
Andrew Clement #advertisement
Andrew Clement have fun with it peeling apart.
Good luck pulling it apart to clean out the specs of dirt or the Glass might crack anyway from damage over yjmd
joey rosenbaum yeah they let in so much dirt. My brother's galaxy s4 was basically a mud pie after it stayed in an OtterBox defender for a full year.
UnrealOG if your being sarcastic there's no need it's actual advice the otterbox line and other cases aren't dust and dirt proof that's why phones still get scratched in cases
I just got my replacement Galaxy s8 plus in
the mail. My phone was in the slot on the side of a car door. I opened
my door and the phone fell out hitting the ground, a flat surface and
shattered my screen. Only a 2 foot fall, and it had a phone case on it ! First time ever dropped too. What the heck ! Only had it a month ! I did
get a replacement since I had insurance but a $200 deductible. I love everything about this phone except for durability of the screen.
i know this is irrelevant, but she is pregnant ?
Bu Hamad no just fat
convenient xD
I hope you know he was being sarcastic
Bu Hamad women tend to get pregnant
Considering this phone is like 90% glass covered, it did a pretty good job. I bet we will finally have near destructible(well non cracking) phones around 2022(like with gorilla glass 7 or 8).
Hi am from the future
don't drop your phone.
They'll drop the next iPhone on carpet and say, 'How about that innovative glass huh?!'
I'm supprised. this phone is durable than it looks. this phone is an example for, phone doesn't have to be ugly to be more durable
My s8 plus does not even a have a scratch this phone is 2 years old no scratches or anything. I have dropped this phone hip height like 4 times a months no cracks or scrarches and it still works amazing until now
How about a second test with a second S8
Ray Miller android fanboy
AKzebraMiner apple fanboy
TheLastNation the test was performed perfectly fine and he's saying do it again thinking that it's gunna win
AKzebraMiner well maybe try it with a phone that hasn't been tested before.
My S8 landed on its corner by the speaker from 3ft very similar to their first test onto ceramic tile luckily it did not break thank God no case here either.
The iPhone sucks because it doesn't have a headphone jack.
Pablo Rivera A little irrelevant, but I agree. Then again Apple sucked anyways
gg CNET! I thought my Phone is going to die at 2:29 lmfao. Well played
well duuuhhhh thats what a case is for
I think it isn t a true galaxy S8 because in the behind of a normal S8 there isn t write "Galaxy S8"
this isn't fair test
rajshekhar sirimala go check other tests on youtube it survived!
rajshekhar sirimala How is it not a fair test?
rajshekhar sirimala Yes it is.
rajshekhar sirimala fandroid?
rajshekhar sirimala the s7 is way better when it comes to durability
The Gorilla Glass 5 performed quite well. We've tested it ourselves for some of our control panel screens. Due to the openings on the back panel for the camera and flash the structural integrity is less, so cracking is more likely. Just like everything that has a screen, unless you have an iron grip at all times, use a case outside.
Never gonna understand why Samsung does not have metal backs on phones
Bane Djokic wireless charging
Because then people would just cry that they're trying to copy iphone. Plus althought it might not be as durable, the look of glass backed phones wins over metal backed phones any day
Bane Djokic for wireless charging, like the g6 . But u can use plastic aswell
u cant use wireless charging on metal back
metal back can't wireless charge
Which is why after all the hype, I simply upgraded by Note 3 to Note 4 as I had the Note 3 for 3 years, with a glass 9H protector. The screen is mint and such a phone with a polycarbonate back has longevity. I think Samsung need to make tough resin material like those found on the back of the screwdrivers like Stanley. You can bash a hammer and it will still not break. STOP MAKING BACK GLASS!
*_"you can probably mask this with a good case'_*
YOU SHOULD PUT A CASE AT THE FIRST PLACE DUMDUM. Her IQ also dropped with the phone 😂
Tanbir Singh This was a test dumbass
It was test assface
My s8+ front screen cracked badly from 2ft high. Ive watched all the drop tests on youtube and cant understand how they can survive so much torture when mine was so low and on polished concrete.
Pls try with exynos variant not with snapdragon lol 😂😂
Ahmath Rihan lol...
Wow.. you drop it many times and nothing on front, but when i dropped it one time accidently (from table) my top left corner literally disappeared, and had cracks around it. You're lucky
I haven't got a new case in a couple of weeks but I drop it like 5 times a day and it has never cracked the most it has done is scratch the screen lightly. Idk how I would call this fake because they clearly drop it but my experience is way diffrent.
0:59 loom closely its cool to see the refresh rate of the screen
Someone needs to do a drop test with different cases because nowadays everyone has a case
Got mine yesterday, ordered a case from amazon. It dropped from about 2 feet up and the entire back is cracked..
this can happen to any phone, it doesn't matter if it's made of metal or whatever even plastic, what is important it's the screen and it did a good job protected it
You sounded like u wanted S8 to crack... when screen was ok u looked dissapointed...
Just came watching this after dropping my phone, I'm so emotional right buhuhu my Lil baby. It was though only like 1 feet with a slight dent on the corner. I'M GETTING A FREAKING COVER!
I bought my s8 a month ago, today it fell from less than 3 ft and the edge screen is not that edge rn.
Thanks for the circles I wasn't able to see how it hit without them
Man that curved screen would drive me nuts with all the glare on the sides.
The fact that the rear cracked just from a mid-length drop is REALLY sad. And the hit was even on the corner, like damn it shouldn't even have been affected.
The test phone on top of the car already shatter before it lands on the ground, take a closer look at 3:08 till 3:09.
S8 is a very delicate phone. My son's S8 front screen cracked when it landed sideways from hip height. Gorilla glass my ass!!! My old Droid Maxx fell out while I was running one morning, it did chip on the edges but no cracks on the glass itself.
RUclips algorithm rubbing salt in and recommending me this after I dropped my phone from knee height and shattering
She looks so satisfied when she drops the phone.
I dropped my s8 once from hip height while in a fairly cheap temporary case and no screen protector (had just ordered a tempered glass screen protector as well as an otterbox case and was waiting for them to arrive). It landed face down on asphalt and the screen was destroyed.
The front glass of the phone is gorilla glass 5 so its hard. And the back is a normal tempered glass
I'm so mad it didn't break the screen.
I dropped my phone from about 20cm onto concrete to the front corner screen and the screen cracked.
the crack was actually really similar to the crack she got from the hip height drop but her one landed on the back.
S8 is the most fragile phone ive ever owned.
I accidentally dropped mine about 3 feet with a metal case on it face down on cement and it broke the top right corner of the screen
I don't think that the rear has the same glass as the front. In most drop tests regardless of angle the back is first to go
I realize that these are not meant to be scientific tests... but at least use some consistency!
Eye Level Tests
LG G6 Drop Test: Dropped with front facing the ground (not how you would normally hold the phone when taking a photo anyway)
Galaxy S8 Drop Test: Dropped with the front facing the Journalist (which is how you would normally hold the phone when taking a photo anyway)
Different positions mean entirely different impact locations and thus absorption of impact. Should take notes from JerryRigEverything.
My S8 plus dropped on a non flat screen from 2 feet. The screen shattered really bad. I could tell candidly these drop tests are not realistic and it doesn't relate to everyday use.
I got mine about a month ago I've dropped it 5 times and it hasn't cracked yet but the video still has me checking just to be sure
I bought after owning an iphone I adore the samsungs phone durability and versatility never once regretted the purchase
You all have a point, we (those that have bought the s8 or s8+) should buy a case, but sometimes at the stores they cost too much money! I bought mine at T-mobile, and my dad asked for the price of the case, and it was $60! That's not really a good price, I would've rather bought it on amazon, but it was too late by the time I did. I deserve to have mine cracked since its my responsibility, but I wouldn't buy a cover for that much money.
Apple head, HTC lover, LG closet fan no matter what U say none can come close to the S8! Hands down the best phone out today!! Like it or not its true!!!
this makes this phone seem alot more durable, that screen cracked on the first drop with mine and it was in a case :(
Yet, I dropped mine from 3 feet with a case and screen protecter on, and it still cracked.
Inaccurate, we usually slap the phone multiple times mid-air and not catch it. So it really is unpredictable how and how badly the phones gonna crack
Get an Otterbox case and you won't have to worry about the back of the phone getting cracked and damaged. Impressive that the screen can take that much abuse, though. I bought the S8 Plus yesterday and have been babying it ever since.
My S8 was not so lucky in an UAG Metropolis case with Olixar Tempered Glass. My phone experienced significant screen damage.
I have S8+ and it fell from 3 meters now half of the screen is broken
Putting a case should be something very wrong. If phones are not durable, they shouldn't even be around anyway
I don't have those problems with my s8 because I have a phone cover which slightly also protects my screen
I think all drop tests should be performed drunk while flailing violently in an attempt to catch the phone. That is the most realistic drop scenario.
mine fell from 3 feet face down and is already cracked and the old display had a little patch that won't display right 😭
and finally ,i dropped my phone in the gaming session got dent in the front...im reallly broken then my s8,
"break up is nothing infront of your phone"s little crack"
Once i lost my case and tried to throw my phone on my bed but somehow my aim is so bad it hit the study tables metal frame and got it cracked on the back
You should do one inside a house, cause is were the drops are more occasional, for example while watching RUclips in your couch
I will never EVER understand why they even use glass in the first place. With the discovery of nano technology, smartphones can be made twice as tough at a fraction of the weight.
the s8 design makes it so easy to have it fall out of your pocket when sitting down
i've left my phone on the roof of my friends car, and surprising it stayed on the roof
Lol, cracked at hip height. Gorilla what... and did she really need to stand in the road to do the imaginary car drop... :L
HOW DID HER SCREEN SURVIVE?!?!?! I DROPPED MINE FROM MY WAIST WITH A CASE ON AND IT BUSTED THE LEFT CORNER RIGHT CORNER BOTTOM OF SCREEN AND EVRYWHERE.
So mine fell from my pocket from my motorcycle going about 85 and I went back and found it, looks like the corners are all damaged, the cracks are mostly on the corners the face is still decent. Still works well, Later that day the screen got a little glitchy. Still usable but definitely going to get a replacement, I just got this phone 3 day ago :'(
