The Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ (Plus) represent the most advanced Android smartphones on the market. The Galaxy S8 is not without it's quirks... It's got an unusual aspect ratio, lower than maximum screen resolution out of the box and no real enhancement to battery life (from the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge). That said the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus are some of the more comfortable phones I've held. The change in aspect ratio give you a slender phone which still packs an enormous screen. The Galaxy S8 Plus has a 6.2-inch display and feels smaller in the hand than most 5.5-inch phones (including the iPhone 7 Plus and Google Pixel XL). The Samsung Galaxy S8 is likely the "screen champ" right now as well, with an amazing AMOLED panel and resolution up to 2,960 x 1,440 pixels. I guess everyone has a different experience. I've had the S3 and S6 and I've had zero problems other than battery life. I'm picking up my S8 today :)

Correct me if im wrong, but they put out those warnings for brightness before the whole note incident. It's not a lack of confidence, its a genuine warning because people like better battery life, and it also warns you that is can cause eye strain.

IlIlI too much bright and too low bright is not good for the eyes. Straining your eyes with too low bright is not also good because you are trying to see the text on your phone even it is really hard to see.

The warning about the battery life is saying that it'll drain faster... not that it's life expectancy is less...
Also, they used slightly smaller batteries *because* of the note 7 issues... and these advanced warnings about battery life and optimization are to squeeze more usable time out of a slightly smaller battery.
the warning is just with the new update android 7.0 on my s6 edge, he is not even trying to find out, is like he got pay to talk trash about the phone even before he got it he was complaining about it
SirFrag32 these are lithium polymer batteries hook one up to something and discharge it at a faster rate and then see what happens for yourself. Shitsung themselves are not confident in their products but they want you to pay for them still.

@@uno9331, now I'm getting a pinkish color toward center of the screen, and down the edges. Like a thin pinkish line. Barely noticable, but noticable. My wife has the same phone, but doesn't have this problem yet. Probably something covered by my warranty.

i just converted to an s8 after strictly only using the iPhone, and i don't think I'm going to use an iPhone for AWHILE. this phone is fantastic! it blows my mind everytime i fuck around with it. so glad i made the switch.

The thing with the brightness bar is also in the s7. Its gets red to warn you that it will consume more battery and that it can strain youre eyes. Thats why it gets red.

OP is obviously very biased towards the S8, S8 provides that option to push for maximized customization and truly personalize your own device. Whats wrong with that? it gives new benchmark device users an idea on how their phone operates. Some users may not even know that turning on brightness on max could effect their battery life, educating them by displaying a simple warning is just a friendly reminder and could be educational to most minorities. what the fuck is this guy complaining about? Any small innovation is still an innovation, isn't that what android is all about? at least its better than apple marketing outdated technology. and yes, with new technology, comes with high price. Is not for everybody, but it sure is better than buying an iphone for around the same price.

He made it sound like you were damaging the phone or reducing its lifespan which is not true. As most people know the brighter the display the more batter power you use therefore you will need to charge it more often. You technically would be reducing the actual battery lifespan but not the phone itself. Batteries are cheap compared to the cost of a new S8.

just got the s8 probably 2 hours ago and the video aspect ratio has been fixed, this is probably super old news to everyone but I just wanted to say coming from an iPhone user, having the whole front be a screen is stunning!

Hey man, AirPods cost $160 and are not so expensive comparing them with other truly wireless earbuds. Not to mention all the sensors and technologies put into them. Have a nice one.
I'm happy they have the high performance button, if I'm playing a game and it lags I can decrease resolution. No phone has ever done this before.

Congrats, this is the stupidest comment I've ever seen. You can text and tweet on a monochrome LCD display too. But we don't use those anymore because people want pretty, high=resolution user interfaces. Nobody in their right mind is going to choose to make their phone look shittier by turning down the resolution.
DeFy Noah You need to go back to school, screens are based on, isoptics and panoptics for perfect eye acuity.. which this device exceeds by a huge marging.. the only moment you can take advantage of those numbers here, is while playing off focus HiRes media.. designed to have the phone located at 2 inches from your face which account for less than 0.1% of the usage and content all around.
probably most usefull for VR, which is probably the reason they put the high resolution display on it even if its not driven at that resolution during normal use. Would not be surprised if it automatically increases the resolution if you launch a VR application.
Most people who have iPhones love it because is simpler than android. If you know how to optimize your android device it never gets laggy or slow, is just that people is too lazy to do even that, get the fuck out that laziness and think.

As far as removing the headphone jack, that is a farce. I'll stick with a headphone jack, thanks. The quality loss from (even good) bluetooth headphones isn't worth it with current tech.

Such a weird title, Does it suck? That title would make sense if the Galaxy S8 had been getting critical reviews. Take for instance Mass effect Andromeda, which had been receiving many critical reviews. It would make sense to have a title called "Mass effect Andromeda does it suck?" Since most people are probably asking that exact question. However when you have an smartphone which has been the top android device(revenue wise) for years, it just seems odd to have that as a title. It's like saying "The iPhone 8(or 10 whatever)how bad is it?"

Dude you are complaining about things that are not exclusive to the S8. Samsung has that screen res message on the Nougat software in general. On my S7 Edge it gives the exact same message. it also starts in 1080p. But you can change the phone res as soon as you get it. Not calling you a hater, but you are hatin lol

If you have a case on the S8, for me personally atleast it helps you guide your finger to the finger print scanner so you fall right onto it automatically everytime, and there are also apps in the Google Play Store that allows you to remap the Bixby button.

With what you said about the screen resolution not being at the highest out of the box, that is how ALL Windows-Running laptops are. Samsung balanced battery & performance. Windows also balances battery and laptop performance. If you want maximum laptop performance, you must change the setting to get the advertised performance. Likewise, to get the "x hour battery life", you must change the setting. Samsung was simply putting a balance between performance and battery life in order to satisfy MOST users.
lots of difference between phones and laptops, my friend. plus Microsoft is not doing anything for laptops that's up to the manufacturers and resolutions are maximum out of the box.

haha what? i've never seen a windows laptop that doesnt use its full resolution by default. you can decrease it if you want, but the option to do so isnt even in the battery/performance section. and even the "power saver" option doesnt affect screen resolution

this is my input on the screen resolution(Please don't be offended ) I think that it should be released at fhd because most people that buy phones are mainly for work so they want best battery life it's all for daily use last through the whole day but most people won't know unless your a geek about phones and watch videos on it then u can change it if putting it up helps you out more. but for the people that don't know they will complain about battery life and not know that u can change it down to save even more battery that's why I think they have it released like that

Well, how about this novel idea... being that it's a "smart phone", it could have been programmed by those brainiacs at Samsung with an optional feature to "auto-friggin-dymamically" adjust its resolution on the fly based on certain woodoo-magic parameters. In simpler terms, to be able to adjust its resolution on the fly possibly per app based on the screen usage/demand parameters set by the user. For example your're composing a text message, downscale it. Watching some incredibly exciting porn, well UP scale it, if you get my humor. Any takers?!

I know right. He's complaining about battery size, but not about the relevant, which is battery life. If battery life is better than S7 edge for instance, then who gives a fuck if the battery's smaller?
Also with the screen aspect ratio, RUclips videos are going to look fine, but watching movies on it will be even better now that the black bars are smaller because the screen is wider. There's literally a resolution option to fill the whole screen, it's just set to that like default to save battery.

Thanks for the video I'm planning on buying it tomorrow because my galaxy s7 is battery damaged. A lot of what you mentioned is something that happens with the s7, blue light (good for night time, studies show that the light can delay melatonin release by 90 minutes, bl helps), the brightness warning and performance mode as well. Wish you had more colors but love this video. Definitely subscribing

other then that Bluetooth got upgraded to 5.0 first phone with that, the Snapdragon chip was upgraded to 8835 first phone with that, the front camera was upgraded to 8mp ,the image processing was upgraded, the chasis of the phone is upgrade and more polished ,the USB connection was upgraded to type C , the screen size was upgraded, touchwiz was upgraded and more like the pixel ,,iris and facial recognition was added ,bixby was added, the Dex pc experience was added ,the headphones are akg headphones ,the screen resolution was bumped up to QHD+, and a few more things but I'm tired of typing lol 😂

Before making a review video, maybe you should be more knowledgeable on the topic. For instance, 80% of your video was software features which are already present in the S7 and S7 Edge due to the Nougat update; i.e. WQHD, Performance mode, +10% brightness, Screen filter, etc. Although you did mention some hardware components which is fine. Next time, try to focus your review more on things such as performance, hardware, camera and actual daily usage results such as battery, temperature and the alike.

Phreshmints I've never actually had lag on an android phone when it came to RUclips. even on 720. It could just be the Wi-Fi connection moreso than the actual phone. With a VPN I get no lag and without a super fast VPN I still have not experienced any lag. only lag I've seen is usually on weekends in the early evenings. That's mainly due to the wi-fi router competes with other routers for bandwidth. Which happens in areas where everyone is using Wi-Fi
