I think you missed the fact that feet =/= meters. 1 meter is ~3.3 feet, meaning the iPhone with a 3 meter rating is good for ~10 feet of water and the S8 would be good for ~16.5 feet of water.

When I was a kid, i remember I opened the charger and headphone flap and then went into the bath for like 40 minutes. It did not charge at first, but after removing the case and wiping it, it worked. I definetly recommend S8 for it’s water resistance.
One month before i lost my S8 in Indian Ocean. Just today morning i got that phone sent by some fisherman as my phone was not screen lock and they got my address and contact. Still working nicely and i am so happy to get it back. But i will never go back to India ocean.
