However, I don't think the G5 PTZ is much worse in terms of image quality due to the 2x optical zoom, but the night vision makes me doubt it. You have tested both what do you think about it? thanks
The night vision on the PTZ depends a bit on where you install it. I don't get as good results with the floodlight, as the area is too big. They are both great cameras, but for different purposes. I like the form factor of the Turret better, but I really like the zoom and movement of the PTZ. Hey Lars! Any chance you know… Is the mounting holes the same as the G5 Turret Ultra? I have Turret Ultra mounted on my rental, and want to upgrade to AI turret as long as I don’t need to drill even more holes. 🤫 Thank you! And great video!
I was surprised that all the screw holes line up perfectly. Just take off the Turret Ultra, and there's no need to drill extra holes. Even much bigger.
Looks like there is enough space just behind camera to leave this connector there. In this case you can maka small hole just enough for ethernet cable, then you keep everything clean and bug free also behind camera :)
I'm not sure there is, but I didn't try to do that. It would make it more difficult to position the camera, as the rather large connector could get pinched in the housing.
@@LarsKlintTech Right, would be possible to check it by you please? I wanted to buy couple of them. Cables are already in place and in case if it's impossible to mount it that way i have to consider another model :/

Yes, there is definitely room for improvement. I think you are right about the training data used. Australian plates are accurately detected about 80% of the time.
Haha, that made me giggle. They do often get things back in stock, but then sell out very quickly again. I know they mentioned in Orlando at the recent event that supply chain issues is one of the main focus areas. Hopefully it gets sorted out soon.
I don't understand why they are still shipping outdated models like the G3 and G4 series cameras. Surely they could use that production capacity to increase supply of the newer models.
@ The LED could have been a + if the range was a bit more than 4m. Extended IR most of the time means overexposed faces, already a problem on my Turret Ultra. But I just noticed the BF price (around -100 EUR) is still maintained as the regular price, so this price drop after a week or so is remarkable and justified. A motorised zoom is rather expensive compared to a few LEDs and a card slot. But I love your reviews!
@ the cost difference between the G5 Turret Ultra and AI turret is huge. I think the ultra is the way to go for me. Also my issues with low Res playback is the app/web page dropping to the low Res settings, rather than the recording 🤦🏻
@@opless Yeah, it is absolutely not for everyone, but the features from the AI Pro makes this better value possibly, than the AI Pro. I am not sure why it does that. Could be a bandwidth issue perhaps?

The irony of installing a Unifi camera for security but then inherently compromising all of your network security, personal privacy, and data by putting one onto your network. Hopefully you don't connect any smartphones or any computers with anything important or private onto that network. Chinese intelligence would also like to extend their thanks for not just volunteering but actually paying to extend their surveillance network.
Why did those idiots from UI create such a large connector. It's just plain stupid. Now people need to drill extra large holes in their houses just because Unifi failed to think about it. Or they need to wire the connector outside its original casing. The Pro has a better cable system.
Ubiquiti joined the rest of the industry. Every turret cam I’ve owned over the years from Hikvision, Dahua, etc has the same pigtail connector. It is much better because it reduces the risk of water intrusion. Ex if camera is mounted to the soffit then the actual Ethernet connection will be in the interior of the house in the attic protected from the elements with additional protection from from the rubber grommet.

I love how the U.S. is sending more products to Australia to be reviewed by Australian RUclipsrs vs Canadian RUclipsrs like Linus Tech Tips, who is as anti-American and pro-Chinese as anyone can get. I loved your review and I subscribed ❤
Awww, thanks mate. Hopefully it doesn't matte I am in Aus, and the information can be used everywhere.
Love the video and the information was perfect for what I was looking for - am replacing my reolink ones with some smarter AI turrets which integrate into my home automation system. Just one note and a bit of constructive criticism: your music in the background is very distracting to me. I was trying to listen to you, and all I could hear (not really, but it was loud) was the music. Ask yourself this - when you watch tv, do you hear the background music? Just my $0.02. Anyway, fantastic content. keep them coming. ;)
I appreciate the feedback mate. I like the music for some segments. I don't watch TV, but lots of video content uses music as part of the story telling.
I'll consider using music with more intent though. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍
You just wanted it "just because", and I salute you for that Sir, I salute you indeed!
Haha, well ... Yes, I did 🤣
Hey Lars!
Any chance you know… Is the mounting holes the same as the G5 Turret Ultra? I have Turret Ultra mounted on my rental, and want to upgrade to AI turret as long as I don’t need to drill even more holes. 🤫
Thank you! And great video!
I don't know 100% but I would say it isn't. The AI Turret is just so much bigger.
I was surprised that all the screw holes line up perfectly. Just take off the Turret Ultra, and there's no need to drill extra holes.
Even much bigger.
Is the housing all metal ? I kept hearing ching ching.
Not all of it. Some it metal, some is a polycarbonate/plastic material.
I wish they would my a turret style/size that you can actually PTZ.
I'm kinda with you, but it would be a difficult design to pull off. You need motors to move the lens as well as the shroud around the housing.
@ I’d kinda agree but other manufacturers like Aqara (WiFi only) can make it happen. Nevertheless, great video!
Does it come in black? I’m thrilled about this “American made” camera model, also love this company. I will not put Chinese cameras in my home.
Not yet afaik. I love these cameras too 😁
my AI pro is very bad in detection of number plates. I can park directly in front of it and it isn't detecting the plate. I have a strong feeling they are trained for US style plates, not for german ones. Also an I is always read as a 1.
Yes, there is definitely room for improvement. I think you are right about the training data used. Australian plates are accurately detected about 80% of the time.
Unifi should just rename to Sold Out.
Haha, that made me giggle. They do often get things back in stock, but then sell out very quickly again. I know they mentioned in Orlando at the recent event that supply chain issues is one of the main focus areas. Hopefully it gets sorted out soon.
@@LarsKlintTech I hope that is true. Has been an issue for many years.
I don't understand why they are still shipping outdated models like the G3 and G4 series cameras. Surely they could use that production capacity to increase supply of the newer models.
@@dank9561 Either there is still demand, or it is current stock being cleared out I reckon.
wow! amazing, something i can replace my wyze cameras with, but its sold out! DARNEST!
Keep a watch on the store. They often replenish stock, but gets sold out quickly every time.
As there is no zoom lens the price setting should be lower tmho.
What about the extended IR range, the micro SD card slot, the LED spotlight?
@ The LED could have been a + if the range was a bit more than 4m. Extended IR most of the time means overexposed faces, already a problem on my Turret Ultra. But I just noticed the BF price (around -100 EUR) is still maintained as the regular price, so this price drop after a week or so is remarkable and justified. A motorised zoom is rather expensive compared to a few LEDs and a card slot. But I love your reviews!
@@ivo_huth Fair enough. I appreciate the insights.
There’s no “I” after the “N” in Aluminum.
There is indeed in standard English: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aluminium
It would be nice if it recognized guns and gunshot sounds. Or perhaps it can be trained to learn what those are. That would be huge.
Erhmmmm, okay?
ALU-minum
😂😂
sadly, only wide, no zoom. bad for a long driveway
Yeah varifocal would have been nice like some Dahua turrets, or at least offer both 2.8mm and 3.6mm options
In your case you'd probably be better off with the G5 PTZ.
Second!
You'll always be first in my book.
@ I think it says "oh the connection was choppy a while ago, so I'll just stick to low quality" and never upgrade it 🤣 ... The AI Pro comparison is certainly more fair !
"I already have a big hole"
