Multiple camera support is neat. I wish they would do a rack-mounted solution. Maybe a modular NVR-style device that you can slide in more "AI Port" compute modules into as needed.
Another vote for a rack-mounted solution. For the time being I opened up about 1U of space between my switch and UNVR to place two Ai Ports on top of the UNVR.
No the AI Key is like a pro version of the AI Port, can handle more cameras and adds more AI features like mentioned, face detection image sharpening, audio transcriptions, etc
I have two of these deployed on a system on Southside. Both are hooked up to Dahua cameras. I can't emphasize enough how easy these were to set up. That property used to run on a BlueIris NVR (PC). It took me days to get that system set up properly. By comparison it only took me about two minutes of my time to get the Ai Port setup. One thing to note when using this with ONVIF: set the camera to H.264 for both the main stream and the sub stream. The Ai Port doesn't seem to like H.265 for now.
I would love to see a G5 PTZ test. They say it can't enhance the tracking but i find that a major issue it has (ESPECIALLY at night with its IR) is detecting people at all, or losing the track because it no longer see someone as a person.
I threw it on just to see that it worked but what would you like me to test. My G5 PTZ is inside right now so let me know what you want to see.. I can definitely put it back outside again if that's what you need.
I put on on my G5 PTZ, it does not enhance the tracking ability and I have noticed being connected it does not return to home and it won't save presets
@@DPCTechnologyWill it read license plates well in the g5 ptz? How’s the face recognition? I’m a bit disappointed with my ai pro regarding these two things.
@@DPCTechnology I just love to see if there's any noticeable difference on whether or not it can keep a person detected while moving as I find the G5 PTZ struggles with detections at the edges of the picture. And whether or not there's a difference in detection rates at night with its IR, just comparing ai port vs no ai port performance. About a week ago I had a neighbor walk up beside my driveway at night on the opposite side of about a waist-high fence, I'd say about 15 ft from the camera and it didn't detect them as a person, therefore not activating the LED light or the tracking. Only reason I knew it happened is because the G5 turret in the same area picked it up.
I have an AI port paired with a G5 turret and the plate reading and facial detection only works less than 50% of the time. The lighting has to be perfect to read plates I feel like and not possible at night so far
I have the AI port on my G4 doorbell pro which is acting as an intercom at my gate. It seems like the camera is not of sufficient resolution / image quality to capture license plates but it is capturing faces. Further testing is needed (I have a GS bullet that I am going to try) but looks like users should be sure the cameras capabilities are sufficient to utilize the LPR functionality.

Or does one set of detections take over from another
What are we truly expecting of the AI Key? Transcriptions, video enhancements? Maybe some intelligent detections for “altercations” or something, based on the transcriptions and volume fluctuations? I’d imagine transcriptions would be searchable, too. Based on form factor - it seems reasonable to think that it will carry the same camera capacities as the Port. $499+, probably. Not knowing more about the Key is the ONLY thing that kept me from pulling the trigger on the Port on launch day!
Just finished the video. The ai turrent has a couple very minor improvements vs using an ai port with a standard turret. However, it's still around $130+$40 vs $400. So, either the price needs to be adjusted or they limit the ai port to just 2 cameras to make the ai cameras make any sense value wise
You hit the nail on the head, I thint the ultras plus AI Port is the way to go, then just use the AI Turret where u need night vision and nicer mic.. It just gives u more options to engineer the best system with the best value.. It's a game changer..
Does the AI port enable audio recording for ONVIF cameras? Am I understanding correctly that the AI Port will support ONVIF cameras recording in 4k as long as the bitrate and fps isn’t too high? It’s weird they don’t mention 4k onvif in the support document.
@DPCTechnology that's fair. I typically don't like to buy based on future promises. While Ubiquiti is certainly no Google, they could still change plans in the future and offer no compensation for the feature never coming to fruition. Perhaps they pull a Tesla and claim the hardware not powerful enough in the end for five cameras, so now need to buy a newer more powerful AI port. Obviously it can all play out exactly as promised, and I hope genuinely hope so, but $200 for a single camera is too much for my needs, and that's all we have today. Thanks for the reply and the informative video.
Looks like 5.1.78 is having issues with detections. There’s been a few posts on it on the forums. There’s EA version seems to fix that. I agree this is a game changer. I’m glad I got mine. I’ll just keep it unpaired until the update. I also wonder if direct wiring may help with the issue.
I put one on the camera I use for LPR, it works pretty good during the day but I think the AI is looking for a vehicle before it checks for a plate because at night all the camera basically shows is the plate and the AI does not recognize it.
Night detections for LPR are hard, the only current camera that I get a super high rate on is the AIDSLR and that is out of most peoples price range. the key for good night detections is a lot of light, the more you have, the more of the lower cost camera that will work,
