  • Gypsy Rose Blanchard celebrated her release from prison with a party thrown by her father and stepmother. She spent seven years behind bars after Blanchard and her previous boyfriend were convicted of murdering her abusive mother. The boyfriend Nicholas Godejohn received life in prison while she got 10 years. Blanchard met her new husband Ryan Anderson through a prison pen pal program. "I'm going into a new life and I'm newly married, and I'm going to have kids one day," she says.

As a victim of long-term child abuse, myself and my 4 younger siblings resonate with her story & could not be happier for her. We were lucky that we had a great social worker and eventually were adopted from the foster system. That is extremely rare, especially for a large group of 5 teenage siblings.
The turmoil she went through kept her from normal social and emotional development. At that point, your logic and emotion is only based on survival . Victims of abuse can truly understand those drastic decisions being your natural instinct to gain freedom and life beyond pain, restriction, and captivity. Gypsy is finally able to have the freedom and life every person deserves. I wish everyone could be as understanding. Congratulations Gypsy! I hope she knows she is so loved and supported 💗

I hope her husband is a truly good person, and that the two of them will be happy together for a long time. I hope she received therapy while she was in prison. You also have to consider that her mother had imprisoned her. There was no legal recourse for Gypsy, and any attempt to escape would see to it that law enforcement would be involved with her return. She also was manipulated to an unimaginable extent by her mother for her entire life, and she very likely did not know what was real or not about herself (besides being able to walk). Then of course consider all the unnecessary drugs her mother had her on, Xanax specifically numbs feelings of empathy. There’s almost no doubt that she felt that her mother’s death was her only opportunity to escape at the time, frankly, I don’t see how else she could have escaped.
