Deep Sea Kayak Fishing an Uninhabited Island 50 Miles Offshore (CATCH & COOK)
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 15 янв 2022
- In this episode we're on our 2nd day kayak fishing 50 miles off the coast of San Diego, California around the uninhabited San Clemente Island. Our 88-foot home-on-the-water has taken us to the other side of the island, and totally new fishing opportunities immediately begin to present themselves. We're getting into big yellowtail, black sea bass, barracudas, bonitos, rockfish, California sheephead and more. We also have some once-in-a-lifetime wildlife encounters. Then, back on the mothership, we're preparing sashimi and ceviche with the freshest yellowtail I've ever eaten.

These 45+ minute videos are perfect Robert. Been watching you for 6+ years and you still putting out epic content.
Thanks so much Erik, I appreciate you sticking with me so long!
When I fished with a buddy a while back he said the exact same thing about why he appreciated Robert's videos. They aren't "catch a tarpon on a chicken nugget" type crap. They're truly an adventure, where rather than a guy producing or pretending or editing to be someone he's not, he's kind of this modern day James Audobon or Meriwether Lewis. He's just on this adventure, documenting amazing things, often with his buddies, as John James and ML did.
One day, maybe he'll come troll or wade for crappie and shoot quail and hogs and pheasant in Mississippi!
Rob is awesome
"You're the master baiter....."....that always cracks me up.
Yes! Time to sit down and enjoy lunch time.
Such good food
Only youtuber still putting 45min quality videos out !!!!💪💪 hard work doesnt go un noticed!!!!
Thanks so much Alex, really appreciate that.
Lol dudes on the service dingy are dope!!!
Great group of guys
I am glad you got to enjoy one of California’s best fisheries!!!
Love fishing the west coast!
Did you call him a master-batter? I gotta ya he got all of your live bait! Looks beautiful. A good time for sure!
Hahaha
Souther Californias top gamefish , yellowtail. Fight like crazy and taste amazing .. specially fun on the surface iron 🤙
Totally
Those Barracuda are even more streamlined than the Florida ones. Man I would love to do that... What a fun time.
Yeah they are, and they can get pretty big. But the Florida ones are biggest. Good thing about the Pacifics is you can eat them, they don't get ciguatera
The footage of the dolphins chasing the flying fish is so epic WOW!!
Best part of the whole video is watching Rob eating a fire steak sandwich 🔥🔥🔥💯💯💯
Hahaha it was so good man
That cuda was VERY happy to see you man
Apparently! Those pants still smell weird
They can fly long way 🤣 never knew about those. Living my life through your videos 😁
Its so awesome to watch Porpoise chase flyers but watching a big ass Bull Mahi flying thru the water on their side so they can track the flyer and the second the flyer lands he is done!!!!
Wow what service and hospitality, i need to put this on my bucket list. Lovin it.
It's such a sick trip. Never disappoints
Guys such an inspiration to me, only 16 at the moment but got my dream sponsorship with strike king, lews, Salmo and fox rage, pretty much due to this guy I haven’t stopped learning from you! Keep it up
That's amazing man, keep it up!
Bro here in Cali we use small baits for yellowtail. Use a small sardine or anchovy instead of a huge mackerel. Trust me I’ve caught 50 pounders out there on tiny baits with really small strong hooks. Don’t use a stinger hook either the fish will see it and won’t bite it and it kills the bait.
Thanks for the tips brother
Those barracuda are fantastic smoked. Excellent if kept no more than a day or 2 and grilled.
Yeah man we eat them in Panama, same species. The smaller ones are great. We usually steak them and fry the steaks.
The flying fish !!! Fish Village does it again. Thanks for the underwater footage. Over
We only do epic trips at Fish Village brother. Hope you've been well!
This is frisking cool.i was just showing my girl I'm like they come get ur fish and the dudes like you want something a beer ,a fajita it's frisking awesome
Nice to see you at my home town, Robert. Thanks for hook and ring tip, I'll have to try that next time I go fishing.
On the Barracuda you shouldn't hold it if letting it go, the slime protects it from the ocean Bactria. I fish San Clemente Island once they also have great rockfish fishing, huge reds and other bottom species.
Yeah man, last time we fished San Clemente we got into a TON of rockfish. Really cool fishery
I'VE GOT TO BE YOUR BIGGEST NEW FAN!! FISHING TRIP WITH YOU IS DEFINITELY ON MY BUCKET LIST BROTHER!!!! KEEP EM COMING!!! LOVE WATCHING YOUR EXCITEMENT FOR OTHER FISHERMEN AS WELL AS YOURSELF... YOU'RE A TRUE SPORTSMAN AND BADASS!!!
Hope you have you join me on a trip sometime!
I think that Barracuda liked you !! 🤣
Guess I'll take any action I can get on a boat full of dudes hahaha
flying fish are amazing.
Man I absolutely love your videos!! I spent about a year in Panama in 09 totally wish I would have checked out the fishing then.. keep up all the awesome work!! Killing it!!!
Thanks so much Jerret!
Hell of a fun watching the video feeling the closest possible as being there, congratulations for such nice videos that includes different situations such how the morning start, how you land the fish over the motherboat, etc
Robert, love watching these videos, we just got clobbered with 15 inches of snow last night. These videos are my escape after a full day of shoveling the driveway. Keep up the good work.
Glad I could help Loren!
Great content! Left Orange County 4 yrs ago and now creek fish for reds and trout in SC..... Beautiful San Clemente Islands!
Great fishing in SC!
It so beautiful underwater view
Yes it is
Excellent video, can't wait for the next one.
Great videos. 3:54 your the Master baiter 😂😂
Looked like some good times!!!! Especially at the end. Hennessy believes in you bro! lol
Hahahaha I'm still hungover from that stuff
That flying fish hunt was EPIC. Kinda reminds you of hunting Gambles Quail! Thanks for sharing!
It was wild to see!
Spot mancing sangat potensial 👍
Booked for June on the islander with fish village! This video is adding so much great anticipation!
Heck yeah!!
I've never seen or heard of flying fish! Thanks for sharing Robert, that's so freaking cool!!!!
They’re wild
Wow, what an amazing video. What a capture.
a very good fishing location, requires a strong mentality and a compact team.
Thank you for doing what you do Awesome videos
Love watching the dolphins incredible animals. Epic!
Living the dream brother, living the dream.
Absolutely
Damm dude! Another awsome vid to change my attitude after working all weekend! Thankyou.
Glad you enjoyed it my man!
Robert another great video you never disappoint thanks for sharing👍🇺🇸
Thanks so much for watching Paul. Glad you enjoyed it
You know that part when you say the fishing is "a little slow right now" at 28:16 The part at 41:25 is why
Could be
Having lived on the west coast all my years I can vouch for those jigs. The yellowtail slam 'em. The two that work best for me are the blue/white and the ''scrambled egg" colors. I think they are made by a company called Tady.
Blue/white was getting it done for me
Barramundi is a delicacy just needs to be cooked right yeah definitely crispy skin barramundi Yum
No barramundi where we're fishing
This trip is another level! Can't belive how good whole crew and service is. I guess it's not cheap, but worth every penny in my book.
Greetings from Croatia!
Not very expensive actually
3:55 did you just call him a master baiter? 🎣 😂
Awesome trip!
Epic shots of flying fish!!!!
So cool to witness
Looks like an amazing time!
It definitely was!
Nice rat kingy - my favourite fish to catch
Those fish are one of my favorites as well
Epic! Living the dream!
That I am
Great work, looks like good times good people and good fishing :)
You need to do this trip! not too far from home
Surface iron is the west coast versions of a vertical jig
Yeah sorta, just lighter and uglier haha
That is a cool idea to do to your hooks thanks man
Seems to work well!
The surface iron is like our natural color cedar plug!! Only those who know would ever buy either one because they look so lame. I would beg to differ 😅
Very good fishing videos and really delicious food, greetings from Chile...
Oh man. Loos like such an epic trip.
It really is
Dude!
Mmmmmm!!
Not today!!!
🤣
Hahaha
Another great video …part 3 please 🤘🤘
That's it til next time
So peaceful
Totally
sweet shot on the jelly fish. thanks for all the underwater shots, what great footage you will never forget those flying fish. I have noticed in my life of fishing the lighter the line you always get more bites, you just have to learn not to try and horse them in. I got a 31 pound spring salmon on 10 pound test. this might sound cruel, but, if you cut a fin off your bait it will swim different and stand out more. thanks for sharing. stay safe
Solid advice
Great stuff! San Clemente is awesome. I've spent time doing marine mammal studies based off SCI (the sketchiest boat launch I've ever used is on the NE corner) but never had a chance to fish which was torture. FYI those were harbor seals, not sea lions, on the rocks. Bottlenose dolphins too, not porpoise.
Thanks for the info
An excellent video congratulations, those yellow tails fight like desperados, cheers, excellent cognac spirited drink haha greetings
Still hungover from that Hennessy
👍👍👍
The flying fish footage is Nat Geo, Planet Earth worthy. David Attenborough could narrate those clips.
Haha thanks man. It was a little shakey... hard keeping it steady when I'm in a kayak and freaking out. Still turned out pretty decent!
Nature is amazing
It really is
Good stuff man! I was a little surprised to see that saunter over to the bait boat... LOL! ;)
Hahaha it's super convenient. You know the struggle!
An absolute blast of an episode! I hope on day I get to cook something for you, sir!
Let's do it
@@YakFishField I'm in Northern Virginia so anytime you are filming anywhere close I'd be down for it. I know you've already shot a bunch in the area but just let me know and we can work something out.
I wonder what happened to Grizzly Adams,he's the cook on that boat
Dude it never fails turn on your channel and there is always something to blow your mind. Question why the fawk do fish need to fly. that was so cool. Field trips is amazing. Peace Be safe out there.
Haha good escape method!
In the late water the mackerel move into La Jolla. Catch them to drag around for #50 White Seat Bass that. move into shallow water from the canyons to spawn
I love fishing La Jolla. Did a couple killer episodes there in my Field Trips: West Coast series on my homepage
Epic videos
love it
You made that Cuda so happy when you said you were letting him go!!!💦 🤣
Hahaha he was moving a little fast on the first date
We interrupt this regularly scheduled program…to watch flying fish!
Was so damn cool to see. The footage didn't do it justice, I was bouncing all over the place
@@YakFishField you were lucky that’s for sure!
Long ways out but looks like a ton of fun
Definitely a ton of fun
Juan Fernández/Robinson Crusoe island it's the spot for catching big ass yellowtails
I fish Clemente a dozen or so times a year. If I were you I would slow troll a flat lined sardine and a second rod with an egg sinker sardine. I would dedicate the entire day to that, probably your best shot at a finicky yellow.
Thanks for the info!
Sweet video!
Thanks man!
Yes sir 👍🏾
Love your videos 💪💪💪🔥🔥🔥🔥💨💨💨💨!!!
Thanks Sam!
That look amazing trip, Robert.; Hopefully can join with you on the same trip.
All the info can be found at www.fishvillage.com under Trip Central > San Clemente
Thats what I always say,if you don't catch anything you can catch a buzz.. hahahahaha 😂 lol
Such a sick trip, but I'd be so hopped up on Dramamine that I'd probably pass out and fall out the yak. I have no sea legs...
Haha they make a non-drowsy version. Pro tip: take the drowsy dramamine at night before bed, then the non-drowsy the second you wake up before breakfast. Works every time for our clients in Panama.
Were you ever nervous about the white sharks possibly being around? When you bled that fish out, I started getting antsy! Looked like a fun trip!
Nahhhh. Better chance of getting struck by lightning
man I am amazed to watch fish flying lol thats cool asf imagine a flying shark lol jking just saying
Ringed circle hooks are great
I bet!
Keep a barrauda? Of course, they are delicious.
God seeing bait balls like that reminds me of lake trout fishing with buzz bombs. Just find the bait ball and start jigging the buzz bomb. Lots of trout. Now i need to try saltwater
Saltwater fishing is a whole different ballgame. I love it
Amazing how far flying fish can fly
Bing bong
Really incredible animals
Hi Robert, cracking videos. Please may I ask what baitcaster reel you are using.
rob what leashes u have on ur fishing rods? and if u dont mind can u send me the link where u purchase them from please
Ahhhh man e-mail trips@fishvillage.com they hooked me up with them!
Hi question what you have attached to rod handles. i am looking for something to use so i don't lose my rods in water. Is that what you have or using.
I use rod leashes that you can find on this page: bit.ly/RobertField_OffshoreTackle
our yt are beast mode it takes 25lb+ leaders for a 7lb fish haha i got a crap ton of spots on the island if you like
like i mean i have 100spots between both islands and in the middle
Nah we good
Question do this fish not hit top waters bc that would make for some awesome content and with all the busting seems like they would destroy it
They could! I need to try more of that next trip
Awesome vid.!
What month of the year was this?
Hey Robert mind if i ask. I know you are using Lowrance Fish finder. What is the model by chance? Thanks
I honestly don't know, it wasn't mine
So what fights harder per pound, Yellowtail or Pampano(idk which species)?
I always use the ringed hooks with live bait, J's or circle.
Welcome to SoCal
Yellowtail for SURE. One of the hardest fish I've ever caught pound-for-pound. And we catch big ones in New Zealand with Fish Village
@@YakFishField Awesome! Big fan of the New Zealand trips and that funny dude with the lobster shorts that always says "hi" to your mom.
@@YakFishField Yellowtail vs Amberjack vs Australian Kingfish?? Which would you say.
Gaffing rats🤘🏻
