So what do you guys think that big fish I lost was???????
It was probably a submarine. Trident class Boomer. You’re lucky to be alive.
It was a Monterey bay monster for sure 👍🏽
Nessi
That bit like your PB halibut 💯 50” 😂….
I remember commenting about catching my largest halibut in the winter and that is true…
Remember here in SoCal our waters get close to NorCal summer time temperatures so maybe that’s why 🤔
And I dropped a 7” live sardine over a rock pile and caught a 5” sand dab , how is that even possible????
Mermaid no doubt
the windy app is a real game changer in making offshore fishing plans...I love it.
totally agree!
I love your term critical.
Kayak fishin Alaska is pretty damn important to know your weather.
Thanks, man, for your efforts.
That’s the spot to jig or yo-yo…
Helps get bigger bottom fish and if you drop bait, go double dropper loop just in case you get a quality rock fish 🍻
Those lil sanddabs are lingcod candy!
Good ol moss landing
absolutely fantastic little fish restaurant/market there. best Cioppino I have ever tasted. used to buy it by the gallon and use for my work lunches.
Stoked that Windy sponsored you! I use it constantly for surfing and fishing and it's super good
Electric reels, so funny. To poor for those things. Battery drill and forked metal doo hickey and I'm good to go. Love that area. Stay safe and tight lines youngen.
That was a grind! Cool to check out new spots though. Can’t wait to see you fish that area when it’s red hot!
Love seeing the grind man, even without catching anything we still like to see the videos. Thanks! Keep it up brotha 🤙
SAND DABS ARE GREAT BAIT! YOU TOSSED THEM?
Yep! My biggest halibut is 42 lbs. caught in December fishing for ling!
I use the Windy app! It is a critical tool for me to determine if it's safe for me to go out on the ocean. Both the wind speed, gales and the swells and periods between them. All important so I enjoy my time out there! Great sponsor!
Totally agree!
Halibut, ty for all of your content . Enjoy it alot
Glad you enjoy it!
fished most of my life in California, half right where you are in the vid basically. Now I live in New Zealand. fishing overall is better here, but the fish are quite different.
Great episode! Enjoyed the different species. Big or small all cool!
Glad you enjoyed it!
I use the windy app for Lake Coeur d’Alene area fishing always. Great app!
8:30 Best halibut live bait ever!
Lingcod candy too
Vermilion for sure, deep water structor in the area. That is my guess. Great video!!!
excellent guess.
Thanks for sharing this like your videos be safe out there
Good job Adam for putting in the time that’ll inspire me to keep grinding I’m guessing it was a big halibut 😊
Good my Fishing friend Wonderful 😊
Moss landing my home port!
Yes Sir it’s gonna be a good one!
Tons of leopard sharks and bat rays in the slough you passed heading out. Unfortunately, I've heard they closed all that down now. I remember as a kid they did bow fishing tournaments in that slough.
my buddy researched leopard sharks, and I worked on gray smoothounds there for years. so much mud. great place for kayaking though.
High probability you hooked a bonito which have been holding in this area
The mystery continues 😮
Nothing wrong with that video. As I like to say, I've done there and been that.
Y'all ain't gotta use a deep water release rig in Cali?
It isn't required but probably should be
@DieHardFishing State of Alaska has done extensive research on barotrauma. The release rigs work really well. Survival rate is a lot higher.
Did you know that the physically traumatized fish takes more time than we think to heal. It's quite harmful to be drug up from the deep.
The release rigs are super simple to use and cheap to buy. I keep 2 on board.
@@harrisgraves592 We used to bring syringes with large gauge needles on them, just puncture the swimbladders and bobs your uncle.
those are large parasitic isopods. They in fact ARE just like giant ticks as far as the fish is concerned. imagine your dog having ticks the size of a rat.
Adam, how do you say jackpot? Lizard fish and sandabs are jackpot fish on party boats. Big Lings, like the ones you caught using eels.
Can't catch good eater sized fish everything Adam, but it's well worth hunting them. Good luck 👍
Every time
Why not use the sanddabs for lingcod bait?
poached in butter is yummy
There was bonitos running in that area a couple of weeks ago in that area. You could’ve targeted them. 😊
Whwn i fish over 300' i use a deepdrop light. And my electric reel lol and if you made your way to the first big bowl you can get yourself some black cod/ sablefish
Going to San Francisco next week hopefully I get lucky with a nice halibut
Good luck!
White sea badd
I love the way how you tell us what city your fishing in…..
Why would he blow up the spot like that? I get it but it’s also respectful to not say to keep the area less pressured. The cool thing is you can find spots like that yourself and put in the hard work to find the good spots
If you’re a bank beater fine but If you need exact coordinates fishing from a boat, kayak etc you suck😂😂 all you gotta do is drop bait and wait
@@Greenliight lol moss landing is well fished, trust me.
How does that release work when the rockfish's eyes are bulging out?
A for effort! That 40+" is out there...
Bass or big halibut
Halibut have a line with a hump towards the pectoral fin along their lateral line on the underside. I'll show it in my next halibut vid!
Moss Landing. Never tried it yet.
try the fish market/restaurant there. great cioppino.
@@thomasneal9291 Phil’s Fish Market moved to Castroville. Just a restaurant until they can open the building next door for the fish market. But yeah, great food.
@@tho464 aww. Phil's was a real fixture all the years I spent near Monterey. glad they still exist, even if they had to move.
@@thomasneal9291 yeah they lost their lease so they moved but still a real easy stop even closer to Monterey.
Probably a big halibut 👍
I agree!
well, bigGER anyway.
Have you ever caught a Humboldt up that far?
there have been big numbers of humboldt squid sightings all the way up to vancouver now the water has warmed up so much. they're actually having impacts on the salmon fisheries up there.
Beautiful day
Let's go!!
No no. They do not say, its not all about catching. It most certainly IS all about catching. But it wouldnt be called fishing if was just catching.
damm. i thought 1000 plus feet was super deep for a kayak fishing. ive been going all around between 40 ~ 800 feet waters with my inflatable intex k2 kayak with a trolling motor. i feel like a dangerous man
Stay safe out there!
Fuck that! I’d say that’s pretty dangerous in an index k2. Your mad
how do you tell the difference between a petrale sole and a halibut? I'm never sure when I catch a flatfish and usually let them all go.
halibut are easily recognizable. they are much thicker, and less broad.
A hoobullgoobuller
Great video of course Adam just out of curiosity were you at Morrow Bay I see those smoke stacks?
The smokestacks are from a power plant in moss landing, the harbor is near Watsonville in Monterey bay.
Agreed. Moss landing
Dunno if you've covered it in past videos, but could you tell me about that kayak setup you're using?
I have! Here is a video I did a while back when I first got the kayak:
ruclips.net/video/s6kCAII1d3w/видео.html
@DieHardFishing thanks. Checking em out now👍
sucks to suck unfortunately
Good Job Adam! Were you fishing in Monterey bay? That looked like Moss landing in the background. I’m impressed your out fishing in that deep water!!
marine canyon comes right up to the shoreline there. you can get in deep water quite quickly.
where is this?
Monterey Bay, California.
You need to put your phone on a lanyard. That way, you could just drop it when you get a bite. That's what I do. ✌️
footage of the whale and how ya tell the male halibut; spice up the vid a bit...
Its a good thing it doesnt rain in San Francisco like it does in portland. Or the poop runoff from the homeless people would kill everything living in the bay.
😂😂
you should just be thankful you aren't homeless yourself buddy.
I thank it was a big butt awesome video bro stay fishy Redmond OREGON
I agree!
Wonder where launched
I lost a Halibut in Sitka and went back and hunted that fish for a week.
I even told her that i just wanted my gear back and she could go home.
Didn't get er.
That's how I feel about this one!!!
Pan fried San dab is the best. Lol
I love sandabs smoked. Mmmm...
