- What is a Binturong? Here we explore one of my favorite animals, the Bearcat. Binturongs come from South Asian countries like India, Malaysia, Indonesia, and the Philippines. You might find one in a zoo near you!

The binturong is a civet found only in Asia, the Binturong (Arctictis binturong) is the largest extant species of civet, it’s closest living relative is the Small-Toothed Palm Civet (Arctogalidia trivirgata), making the binturong and the small-toothed palm civet the only extant representatives of the tribe Arctictini, which belongs to the subfamily Paradoxurinae (Short-Faced Palm Civets).
😂😂😂😂😂🤣
For the non aussies, all the footage from australia zoo in this video featured steve irwin's (the crocodile hunter) kids :)
I hope you enjoyed learning about binturongs!
I was fortunate to meet one of the Binturongs at Edinburgh Zoo today (I believe they have two, a male and a female, for obvious reasons) but the female was hiding. Hands down one of the most adorable animals I have ever seen. My 11yp daughter was really enamoured too and immediatly decided she needed a stuffed toy Binturong from the zoo giftshop.
They’re very cute in a strangeish way
new to me. they are so cuddly and adorable. evolution is so amazing. that tree only survives cause the seed passes through the binturong’s digestive system - like so many other seeds do with other animals and birds. thanks for this :) 🐱🐻🐒🌷🌱
I live in Thailand and had never seen or heard of the Binturong. I took a trip to Safari World in Bangkok and was on my way to feed the giraffe when I saw a cage full of these weird creatures chilling out on tree branches. I looked at the little information board to find out what these strange creatures were. Bear Cats or Binturongs. I then learned that they smell of popcorn and that they are arboreal creatures that live in trees. I have seen them in other Thai zoos since but really had no idea such a creature existed until that visit to Safari World. I do have footage of them in both the Safari Park and a zoo up in Ratchaburi if anyone is interested in that? Our Man In Bangkok on RUclips. As I said, I find them totally fascinating and unique.
I’ve seen these guys, Everytime. I’m from the Philippines
I used to get jealous of people from other countries, because they have the "cool animals".
Then I talked to someone from Japan, and they told me they were jealous because they thought raccoons were awesome, and they mostly live in North America. Kinda put in perspective.
@@lexxstrumwhat country are you from?
@@odeon7834 The United States of America.
this video needs more views. awesome
That's one of the coolest critters I've ever seen. Thank you. ❣️😁
Look at the whiskers on him!
Is there some way i can get ahold of one of these?😂 in a few years I’ll have a zoology degree and honestly just want one or two for conservation purposes, but they’re my newfound FAVOURITE animal since i saw them in an unusual memes vid last week😂
So cool
They are beautiful, cuddly and smells like popcorn , that's it 😁♥️♥️
Neat
Beautiful creatures. Thank you for introducing them to me.
Thank you Josh
This is the most underrated channel
ya thank you so much ^.^
Being blind, when I learn about a new animal, I always like to know if that animal makes a sound. And if so, what kind of sound it makes. What sound do binturongs make?
I remember some Binturongs playing some tight defense in the late 90s under Jim Calhoun.
Used to see one at the Detroit Zoo.
Yesterday I saw 4 binturong on the tree and that was so awesome ❤️
Such a great critter!
I saw one at Taronga Zoo in Sydney!
The mascot of the University of Cincinnati? Really? I wonder what the university's nickname is?? Hmmm...
They don’t actually leap thru the trees (like there civet cousins) primarily probably due to their size. They actually climb all the down tree to the Forrest floor to go up another.
I wouldn't know anything about a venture except my ex-husband used to own them. He is the Oregon Birdman in Oregon and we do exotic animal shows. He has a new wife now we're all good friends.
Bearcats
Cincy girl here!!!!
I saw a binturong at Zoo Atlanta. Or rather, I smelled it, THEN saw it.
I just saw one in my orchard farm here in the Philippines hopping from trees.
I saw two at the Madrid zoo
I have seen a family of them at The Tampa Zoo
currumbin wild life sanctuary has one in an outside enclosure on the gold coast queensland ,australia
For those that don’t know, this is the mascot for the University of Cincinnati (Ohio)
That was mentioned and illustrated in the video
The first time I heard about Binturongs was when I watched ¨the Lion Guard¨ with my 6 yr old son....
What a magnificent animal, praise God
Who else is here after watching the tik tok of that guy playing with a binturong?
I have seen this once in katra ( jammu and kashmir, INDIA)
Binturongs rule the world

Turbokjut.
Don't believe a word of this! Binturongs don't make a binturight!
Вкусное ли мясо у них ? Хороший мех ? Хорошо ли их разводить на фермах ?
