I got the rare chance to play with binturong all by myself for like 20 minutes when I was younger. My uncle was good friends with the owner of Monterey Zoo, and at the time they had a male binturong named Doc. They let me into his enclosure, under supervision of course, and to my surprise Doc seemed to really like me. He was a real character, loved hanging upside down from my arm like a tree branch and nibbling my hands lol. And for those wondering; yes binturongs do smell like buttery popcorn. It's a very pleasant smell. This was back when I was in 7th grade and although I'm 21 now, the binturong will always be my favorite animal. Thanks Doc haha.
Lucky you are to have such memories! It is always interesting to touch unusual animals. I had a chance to hold a small tiger and a small lion in my arms. It was also in a Zoo. They are rather heavy and smell, really smell like big cats)))
its because of the noise being made. the one i encountered in the denver aqurium actually does watercolor painting with her paws. like a jackson pollack painting but with paw prints.

So, I live in Myrtle Beach, and I wanted to go to the Greenville Zoo, which is three hours away, to see one. But, he was sleeping behind the exhibit, but the zookeeper was nice enough to invite me behind the exhibit when he woke up, and get this: he sniffed my hand! Someday you will get your chance to see a binturong. Good luck!
Where I came from from, this animal Is literally everywhere. In the 80th and 90th there are so many Binturong in my hometown of Sarawak. And yes they are very mild in temperament. Will approach you for food even if it is a wild animal thus making them an easy pray for human. Now it's hardly found anywhere unless in the tick jungle.
Wow Bearcats are strong, she would knock me out cold if she slammed her paw on my jaw like that, even if she slams her paw like that on my back or arm, that would hurt with that kind of blow, not to mention her claws too, wow

Try to release Bencharong‘s into the wild so they can survive and my children can see them in the wild in their natural habitat.
I assume they are individuals with their own personalities, but are they this rowdy and rambunctious in the wild? I’ve only seen still pictures of bearcats, so I’m really surprised by the way she behaves! Totally different from what I envisioned.
