Hello Shawn and Mel! I saw Nick Lowe twice in 1981 when he and Dave Edmunds were Rockpile. This was right before they disbanded. Nick is a rabbit hole. 50 years ago this year he wrote (and sang) the iconic song (What’s So Funny ‘Bout) Peace Love and Understanding. In 1979 Elvis Costello had the huge hit with that song and it was Produced by Nick Lowe who was producing numerous Elvis C. albums. The song has been covered by numerous acts most notably by Bruce Springsteen at a live concert. It was the show closer and is on RUclips. Most recently during lockdown it was covered in a more melancholy rendition by Sharon Van Etten. Especially noteworthy of this video is Nick Lowe makes a cameo appearance in it. (Old man with dog and guitar) Nick is still performing and is a wonder. I’ll link the Sharon Van Etten song as it fits your Female Friday series or just as a great song. His backing band on this included members of Huey Lewis & the News and the Harmonica solo was played by Huey.

Hi Shawn & Mel, I met and had a photo with him years ago, now 74, but then he was on a solo show with out a band or with the band Rockpile with Dave Edmunds who is now 79 and their big song is "Girls Talk"
I once went to the nightclub I suspected he'd be at after an outdoor show and got drunk with him. I couldn't understand a word he said all night
