It’s not just the product it’s the apparently flawless execution …with every single project. I don’t know how you do it. I don’t know if there are ever mistakes or outtakes or whatnot ,but I for one appreciate your NOT showing them. There is something both daunting and Mesmerizing watching your projects come together with such sublime precision; and it makes me believe that one day a project of my own might also manifest so perfectly. 🙏🏻🙇🙌🏻
Thank you very much! If it makes you feel better, the insert nut I installed in this video was in the wrong side... I had to cut the leather off, reprint, re-wrap and install the insert nut in the correct, under-side. I reshot it, too… but the first one looked better, so I left it in. I think a lot of people include their mistakes to drum up a sense of drama. If I go out to a restaurant, I hope the chef doesn’t feel compelled to come out and tell me about the steak he overcooked the first go around. I mess up all of the time, less often when I am filming because you have a lot of time to consider every step while moving the camera, etc…
Thanks! Usually I am struggling to edit down multiple hours worth video, this time it even came out under the 8 minute threshold. Pretty straightforward!
I see a lot of incredible talent on RUclips these days! I think there are just a couple channels sucking up a lot of the oxygen so you need to dig deeper than you used to… Thanks!
Hey, thanks! Look into the Bambu enclosed printers. I’m not affiliated or anything… I just know everyone that has one is happy with them. This delta one is fun to watch, but technology moves on…
hi sir I admire your work on casting metals, could you do a video only on the tools , materials, and organization of your workshop and how you prepare yourself and set things up before a metal casting around your workshop
Did the same a while ago and it was definitely easier than i thought! The only flaw is that I used smooth leather instead of a grippier rough one, but it's ok so far. Rough leather gets smooth over time as well.
Thanks! Yeah, the thing is… either side is slightly a different length with the baseball stitch. Using the array tool, I could simply array 25 holes instead of an even spacing like a leather fork would do. Only draw back I see is the little bit of soot left in the hole.
I can say that they are finally getting to the point where they work as expected every time. Too often in the past you felt like you were getting ready for a science fair.
Could you make a video specifically for beginners & intermediates trying to learn about all the tools you use where to start & where to move forward when getting better
i was vibing hard to the music while the printer was doing its work - great video as always. Wonder what else you got going on - any new fountains/sculptures?
I have a pretty sweet fire pit I am trying to afford to do. Laser cut 3/8” steel that is bent into shape with a hand torch and welded. You can actually catch a glimpse of an early mockup in the scene with the flatbed scanner ;)
Thanks! Mostly by handling it. If it was a concern it could be wiped with a damp cloth and sealed with a variety of different waxes, etc…. This is oil tanned, so it sort of self lubricates the edges…
Well this bike was parked next to a garbage can in my neighborhood and the owner said I could have it. Still have my eyes out for a free laser cutter, however…
This was the free version of Kuri Engine. Just emailed to myself from the app. There might be better pay apps like Polycam, for example. Polycam uses your LiDAR and might be better if your phone has that capability.
Cool! Great work! Do you just laser engraved leather with some patterns on other two pairs? In this case, does it decrease water resistance of leather? Or you 3d-printed stamp and pressed pattern on leather? How long white stitches remain white?
Yeah the pattern is just engraved. I suspect it won’t really matter as the edges are also exposed. As far as pressing the leather… not with oil tanned, it wouldn’t take. The white would honestly probably get whiter with use as it has a small amount of charred leather in it from the holes. I like when things look worn, though…
👆 I used this one but I didn’t need super fine fidelity and I wanted it to appear more approachable. I also tried out Polycam, and I think it might be better if your phone has LiDAR. At the time, my phone was full so I didn’t have the space for a giant mesh file. I tried KIRI first and it worked as well as I needed it to. For KIRI, you click process.. then a few minutes later it tells you it is complete. You can then send it to yourself and import the mesh into Rhino.
Could you make a custom aluminum heatsink for the bottom of the PS4 Pro to make it silent? The aluminum piece would replace the normal bottom plastic piece. The Vram seems to be the hottest component. Sony tents to barely use enough heatsink causing the fans to be very loud during demanding games like the latest god of war.
NylonX from Matterhackers. The most difficult thing to overcome was getting it to stick to the build plate. I had to turn up the temp quite a bit a lightly scratch the surface with some scotch brite.
(Secret Time 🤫) I was preparing to do a lost wax UV cured 3D print for these. That is why you see a resin print in some of the shots. Seemed too involved for what this is, but I am still looking for ideas!
@@Grunblau Don't get me wrong, I love all your videos. The one you made of making your own dominos has made wish the local community collage still had actual manufacturing classes instead of just a CNC program. :(
Hello sir where are you missing you, are you still stuck in prefab shop it's already completed 1 year post atleast community post hope you're doing great 👍
New Oltrogge let’s go!!!!
This channel diserves more recognition.
A magician at work.
Thanks for the comment. I, of course, agree with you wholeheartedly.
Your content is always the perfect blend of engineering and art. I love it!
Thank you
Nice job. I particularly liked the masking tape pattern development.
Useful for a lot of things!

So much quality 😊 I wish you could upload more often.
Wow, so simple but such an elegant process.
Thanks! Usually I am struggling to edit down multiple hours worth video, this time it even came out under the 8 minute threshold. Pretty straightforward!
Awesome job!! using all those digital tools the results are fantastic!!!!
Thanks! People forget the power of the flatbed scanner! :)
You are such an impressive maker. Well done.
Thank you very much! I hope people are inspired to try on their own…
These videos never fail to impress me. You are the most talented person on RUclips in the maker community
I see a lot of incredible talent on RUclips these days! I think there are just a couple channels sucking up a lot of the oxygen so you need to dig deeper than you used to… Thanks!
Fantastic presentation. This is the power of 3D printing.
Yup. Thank you!
Gad to see you back with a video, you have been missed!
Hey, thanks!
Well done Brian! 😃🤙🏻
Thanks! 👍
Individualized ergonomic design is one of the best benefits of 3D printer. This is best utilized by those who understand biomechanics.
Wow, I love how you've showcased your design, thought process and build. This is super inspiring. Cheers.
Thanks! Good luck with your projects!
Missing your videos
Nice handle ❤
Make big project and use all your tools in one video (or) show all your tools and tell good thing about that tool
I would love to build a prefab shop. A stand alone building for my backyard. Just need one of these scratch-offs to hit and I’d be all set…
@@Grunblau 🤩 waiting to see how would it turns 👍
Dude, just wow. Each and every your video is a joy to watch and very inspiring! Getting myself a 3d printer

@@Grunblau Thanks! I ordered the P1S. Not the fanciest one they have, but still a steady starting point. Very excited
Great execution, well done.
Thank you!
Very nicely done. I have a steering wheel project for a car I’m doing, I’m probably going to borrow a few of your tip and ideas. Cheers.
Great! Steering wheel was the first thing I did this way in high school! Good luck with your project!
Thank you for posting. I truly love your videos and look forward to watching them.
Thank you very much. Means a lot…
I need my 2024 dose of Oltrogge ❤
That's an impressive project! 🙏 Thanks!
Thank you! Easy way to add leather to 3D prints…

Another killer video Brian! I never thought about just cutting the holes in the leather with the laser.

Thank you! I am always trying to improve…
Beautiful work!
Thanks!
Awesome 👍. I thought you were gonna cast rubber grips, using the 3D printer. But these are like Bentley grips. Thanks for the lesson.
Thanks! I was going to print the snake skin one in TPS filament but ran short on time and realized it wouldn’t really flow in the video.
Very nice video!!
Amazing! They look great!

hey Brian awesome video, what is the scanning app you used? how do you then convert this to a usable element in Rhino? thanks in advance

That is some very nice work, good job. How powerful of a laser would I need to cut leather like that?
A couple passes with a 40W or one pass with a 100W would be a good guess. This leather seems a tiny bit more difficult that normal veg-tan, though…
Anytime now….❤
This was such a cool project!
Are the alligator ones fully 3D printed?
Yeah. I made a grasshopper definition that makes a tortoiseshell out of surface. :)

great video as always. I'm amazed that you were able to print CF Nylon without an enclosure. with nylon did you use?
NylonX from Matterhackers. The most difficult thing to overcome was getting it to stick to the build plate. I had to turn up the temp quite a bit a lightly scratch the surface with some scotch brite.
@@Grunblau For bed adhesion issues I usually recommend Magigoo. Their PA and Pro PA are designed for Nylon
