Hi everyone! Thank you so much for watching the video again. Everybody seems to be watching longer than normal, that is awesome.

The serve is not something we talk about a lot on the channel, but it is very important and underrated. We will speak about 3 different serves. The padel serve to the center, the sidewall and the service towards the body.
I guess a lot of padel players are serving to the sidewall, but I think most players don't understand what part of the sidewall.

The most common mistakes I see are:
- players try to emphasize speed over accuracy (as so often in Padel). As a result they need too many 2nd serves which you can usually attack really easy. Another downside of the hard serve is that the serving player sometimes doesn't make it all the way to the net in time (because of the speed); which results often in the return landing on their feet.
- too much emphasis on some crazy spin (usually slice). Always try to keep a fixed wrist or your accuracy will suffer. The slice needs to come from moving through the ball with a slight offset grip position.
For me, this is the order of importance:
- flat trajectory (low over the net). Preferably with a little bit of slice (not from wrist!)
- placement in length (depth)
- placement in width
Also something really important is to have a fixed "ritual". For example, I find it helpful to simply drop/release the ball from a certain height. This makes it always repeatable (gravity always works the same). If you don't follow a strictly enforced procedure for yourself, all the points above are unattainable.

Great to hear your comments on the importance of the serve, I regularly use the serve to the body particularly against better players. I find that varying the direction and pace keeps them guessing and they cannot get into a return rythm.

Great video. I play with some players who try to win the point on serve. They end up hitting lots of second serves or double faulting on a regular basis. Will definitely slow my serve down after watching this. VAMOS 4ON!!!!

Don’t need the nice 4on spray, just wanted to say ”Sheet Bra” tips. 👍👍 A slower, deeper serve is better than a faster, shorter one. And yes, variation to be unpredictable is key.

A similar video about normal playing would be really helpful....for eg. If I get out of position due to a ball in the centre the best would be to play to the backhand of the player infront of me to avoid giving them angles..its very vague description from me..but you are the coach 😀

Great tip to serve to the body. What about dropping the odd serve really slow just over the net to make the player have run forward? Is that considered un-sporting?
Thats considered a bit un-sporting. And it is not easy to play an amazing dropshot serve
