  • Last week I finally worked up to hitting the first (and smaller) of the two doubles at the end of the intermediate line at Desert Trails Bike Park in Mesa, AZ.
This week, I went back to try to clean the whole route!
I did one run up, asked for some advice, and ended up committing to the kicker and casing the landing - but I hit it! I sessioned it a few more times until I felt I was getting too sketchy.
I'm excited about my progression, and I'm looking forward to getting back and hitting the jumps with enough speed that I don't case them every time!
Hope you liked the video, thanks for watching

Hey, i ride here often and i recommend trying to tap your front tire on the tabletop right before the first double. It helps keep your speed and you won’t care as often! Loved the vid though.

Thanks for sharing your progression. I just went to this bike park Saturday for the first time and had a blast, but am not up to clearing the jumps on even the green trail yet. More practice and more time hopefully I’ll get there

Awesome! Those are some scary jumps for sure. I noticed you are turning your bars towards the direction of the hip jump, especially on the second one. Even though it sounds counter-intuitive, try turning your bars slightly in the opposite direction of the hip in the air. This will shift your weight in the air so your body will be in the right position to land properly on the hip. Hope that helps! And maybe watch some videos of other experienced riders doing hips and you will see them doing that technique 9 times out of 10.

I just got my first hardtail recently and I live 10 mins from this park. Still learning on the beginner line but can't wait to progress. There are some big jumps put there! What bike are you riding?

I've got a 2019 Vitus Nucleus 275 VR that I rode on those trails. In the meantime, I acquired a BMX bike, but I haven't had a chance to get out there. probably won't go back until after the summer. It took me like 18 months of working from the beginner line to get up to those jumps, so no rush!

@@OZZYANK That's awesome to hear! It's the best entry level hardtail! Once I got a dropper post on mine, that was a total game change

Getting better! I am super impressed how you are able to not crash coming up that short on a jump.

Haha, thanks! I was amazed I stayed on the bike, and that's why I ended up calling it. I knew it was a matter of time before I got hurt with how poorly I was hitting the second

This is by far your best video yet!! If you're already this good after only posting for a month or two, I can't wait to see where you are in a year!
