The brake fluid reservoir is fine to open this will not introduce air into the system that is why it is located above the brakes. In fact it's generally a good idea to open it during brake jobs while you compress the caliper pistons.
If the reservoir is see through, there is no need to open the system and possibly introduce dust and dirt. Also, brake fluid is hygroscopic and absorbs moisture. So keeping the system closed is best.
@@Catfishjohnboy1 I don't even take off cap just crack it and compress then close about 10 minutes tops. I've always done it that way never had an issue. I could see how what your saying makes sense though.
I mean your not wrong but your not 100% 1. should not overflow because with new pads reservoir should not exceed the max line but people often overfill them. 2. as someone said it's hygroscopic and attracts moisture less time cap is off the better for the closed system 3. your right opening the cap will not introduce air pockets
The torque stick has been dissolved in Sweden by law and union labor force the reason is that the stick has a tendency to vibrate enough and destroy the fine blood capillaries in your finger tops so that the sensitivity is completely vanished. They have replaced them with the torque wrench instead and is much safer for the long run. Great video Laura and thanks for the inspection on the GMC Yukon XL we do similar checks and we use the crow bar to check bushings and other tight fittings on vehicles.

Just letting you know you cannot check ball joints on that type of suspension unloaded it very well could have play and usually it's normal for a little movement on those suspension types. unless it was extremely excessive
Ebrima Njie what area are you in . What thickness of oil are you running . If it’s hot in your area you should run thicker oil. Colder climate thinner oil . Oil will look black if it’s Diesel engine . Or the gas engine needs to be tuned up . Plugs , carb adjustment . I assume it’s carbureted vehicle. Does oil smell like gas??? Good luck 👍
Great video the one question I have is what about the acidity of the coolant nowadays they’re so much aluminum and plastic and engines it’s hard to see if the coolant has degraded, I use coolant test strips.
You can add brake fluid, as stated check your brakes and for leaks first. Live in the New Hampshire, road salt harsh on your vehicles. If you keep losing brake fluid and see no leaks? More than likely you have a bad master cylinder?
Doesn't matter. Techs do quick checks on important points that are easily done without disassembling a vehicle too much and spending all day on an inspection that doesn't pay them (assuming it's a free inspection that the tech isn't paid for).
Does anyone know where I can get NYS car inspection without them scamming me a place that can give me honest inspection and sticker without trying to push for things I don’t need. Sears use to be great place but now they are gone😩
Good question Carlo. Typically you have about 15 minutes to do as thorough an inspection as possible. If you have a good routine down and have done it a dozen times or more, you should be able to complete the inspection without missing anything if you're already doing an oil change and tire rotation for instance. One of the biggest complaints from many technicians is having to take the wheels off to do a multi-point inspection if you're not already taking the wheels off for a different service. This means the technician has to spend about extra time doing a proper inspection that they won't get paid for. Thanks!
Laura Garcia I work as an auto general service tech at a shop and your video has enlighten me a lot.. I want to be as efficient and productive as possible ... any ideas.. thank you.. b
I work at a Ford quick Lane and we typically keep our times at a half hour or less it depends on weather it's a diesel or standard and what issues we run into. Generally from the time your vehicle enters the shop it's about 20-30 minutes until it is finished.
But a inspection can lead to more money. I say get my brakes inspected and they dont do it. Last time I went a auto repair shop. I'll go Aamco next time and they will do it and much more. They will Most likely will find something wrong and I may pay for it to be serviced.
Thanks for the Video clip! Excuse me for the intrusion, I would love your initial thoughts. Have you considered - Saankramer Vehicle Statement System (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now)? It is an awesome one of a kind guide for getting paid to drive minus the normal expense. Ive heard some interesting things about it and my cooworker at last got cool success with it.
Automobile multi-point inspections prove nothing. Stats show more auto accidents are caused by faulty drivers and not faulty mechanical problems. State inspection are a source of revenue for the state and an easy source of income for a mechanic greed in his heart. I know of what I speak as I live up Nawth in Pennsylvania. I maintain my own cars and keep everything in working order except for some jobs I can't do for lack of space or want of tools. I applaud you who live in Florida and are not under the hard fisted rule of government. If it moves drive it.
NY too is like that. There are shops that give a hard time if your parking brake creeps at 1200rpm. We don't care about rust as much as PA. If it fails in NY for rust it really should be off the road.
Some people drive with faulty brakes without knowing it. Just get the brakes inspected once a year atleast. NTB does it for free. Aamco does a free 36 step inspection free with service done.

Everyone should know how to inspect a car like this if they drive. Repair is asking too much but knowing this can save you a fortune.
True and good point.

My dealership allows 2hrs for a multi point inspection on a certified used car which includes an oil change with every one.
