- Spanning over two years, River Newcomb's pursuit of a big Arkansas black bear encompassed a serious mule accident and some wins and losses with some giant bears. Clay and River used mules to bowhunt bears on a secluded property in the mountains of Arkansas.

Nice .. enjoy them now while you can.. I raised 2 daughters one is 37 and the other is 34.. they grow up quick. Of course I have grandkids now. Taking my grandson deer hunting this weekend. Looks like your packing got better from the first year. Your still welcome to come out sometime .. the bear quota filled in our area again but I did get my friend from Oklahoma one .. You will just have to come out and lion hunt now .

Bear Hunting Magazine . ha I like it “daddin”. I wish I was half as good as you on putting the videos together. I have 50+ videos over the last 3-4 years of the kids hunting and fishing in my library and have only published 3 so far because I can’t figure out or have the time for the editing and publishing. I could sure use a tip or two. I feel so bad for them that I haven’t published any more than I have. I’ve got to get it together and get going on it. Getting the kids involved in the outdoors is my passion and sharing their love of the outdoors is with others through our RUclips channel is goal of mine but I have been slacking on that part of it.
Awesome video. I am new to Appalachia. Successful big game hunter in Midwest and Rockies. Trying this bear hunting thing out. I actually saw one. Felt like a victory! Thanks for the motivation.
Amen to what she said about it being hard. Hard work on foot is so satisfying. Lord willing, will be headed to the mountains in October for bear. Lot of heavy white oak tree scouting and trees marked by bears. No baiting on public land here in SC. A friend of mine has been hunting them for a very long time. The last big one he killed it took over fours hours with a group of folks to get it back down because of where it was on the mountain.

Great hunt! We lost hunting over bears bait years ago in my home state, it was one of my favorites. I'm glad River was ok after the wreck, but really there's nothing wrong with wearing a helmet on horse or muleback, I have many years of riding and packing and I wear one. Not sure why there's a stigma attached to it, but hey I'd be wearing some kind of hat anyway and it might save your life.
