By the way - to those who may be thinking that the cross removed from the hospital was censorship, it was... but it wasn't. It is literally illegal to use it unless you're the Red Cross, Red Crescent, or Red Crystal. It's written in the Geneva Convention, as well as several laws in various countries. It's also been in the legal books for at LEAST 100 years. Nintendo either got special permission for the Japanese release, or got extremely lucky. Interestingly - it's not a trademark, but it's protected like it is
Wow. I just thought it was the trademark for the Red Cross and NOA would’ve had to of paid them to use it. I didn’t realize it was apart of the literal Geneva Convention.

5:33 "What would you like on your tombstone?" was also the tagline for a brand of frozen pizza that was popular around the time of this game's release.
Maybe there is, but there's no residual data left in the games. Fans just made up track names, while some come from smash bros or the mother 1 album. The only one with all official names is m3 with the track player
Chuggaa, you MISSED SOMETHING after beating the Titanic Ant. IF you go back to MAYOR PERKLE after you beat Giant Steps boss, you GET 100 DOLLAR for beating it and he has some interesting dialogue too. Like so he can see!
Chuggaconroy could narrate Nintendogs and I would still watch. Loving this series. Imagine if houses still cost $7,500 in the suburbs today that would be the dream
I like to imagine Ness as chubbier than most kids. Lots of enemies insult him like that, and a lot of good characters are really encouraging. One of the game’s central themes is finding the courage you need, and growing up as a fat kid myself I know how hard it can be to do that. Maybe other characters being encouraging ties into that? I always imagined him so, and even if Smash’s interpretation of him isn’t exactly representative of that, I still think it fits well.
Well, Smash in any degree of canonicity would take place after every franchise's games released before it. In a way, I consider Subspace Emissary to be a mini-Mother 4 from Ness & Lucas' perspective. I don't know what it'd be called from other characters' perspectives.
Trevor Jack Contrary to typical portrayals, fat athletic people exist. I don't mean that in a rude or condescending way, that's just the simplest way I can say it. It is really unfortunate that people equate getting fit and taking athletics seriously with appearing slim or muscly exclusively. The two don't correlate as heavily or strictly as people usually think. Exercise burns fat sure, but that's not the bottom line. Different sports require different exercises and different bodies react and perform under diverse situations. Plus, this is a game where an alien tries to take over the world and has to be stopped by psychic children because a bee from the future told them to. One of the kids being fat isn't unbelievable.
GRB13 That is true, but if you compare say Pokey/Porky to Ness you can see that one is fatter than the other. Not saying you are wrong about fat athletic people, I am actually a little on the chunky side, but I also can't stand still, I need to be constantly moving. Also, I think the sprites of Ness and Jeff are pretty similar in build, with Jeff being only slightly slimmer, but that could just be my head messing with me. I don't mean to sound mean, so I apologize if I do. You do honestly bring up a good point, let's just say that Ness is bulky, and not think too much into a game where a bug from the future tells a 13 year old to save the world.
Exactly a year ago when you uploaded an episode of Mario and Luigi: Partners In Time, I was sat on my couch in my apartment halfway through the video when an earthquake struck. 365 days later I'm sat in the same spot and hopefully an earthquake won't disrupt my chuggaaconroy video. Edit: I finished the video earthquake free.
I really like the idea of your enemies coming to fear you, giving you a wide berth and being more likely to surrender. In Clyde Mandolin’s Legends of Localization on Earthbound book, there’s a comment about how Iwata took inspiration from Earthbound telling you to take a break after awhile, and used it as a philosophy during his time as president during Nintendo, hence why those break messages started popping up more during the Wii era
The fight with Chief Strong has always stood out to me. His pose, the music, and his no-nonsense fighting style are all just so tonally different form what comes before it. I didn't really realize it as a kid, but it's really nice that they slid in this much more serious moment here.
In this episode of EarthBound... Chugga absolutely terrifies a bunch of mice and ants before leaving Giant's Step, and immediately decides to *have a battle with the police* ...and dies in the process. Oh well. Luckily, he is able to subdue the Chief after getting a nagging lecture from his dad, and continues on his quest! What horrible beasts will he be faced with now, you ask? Um...evil mushrooms. Also, an Italian mouse who has no qualms whatsoever about giving her son away to be stuffed in a bright yellow backpack for the rest of his life. I think she might be trying to free up some space for that human tenant. TO BE CONTINUED...
14:46 If i'm not mistaken, the prequel to this game [MOTHER/Earthbound Beginnings] did it, too! I'm not sure if there's an instance earlier then that though, so...
The only reason i could see other rpgs not have the "you are so much higher levelled that you would kill the enemy in 1 hit so here is your exp and let's move on" thing. Is because it would be really easy to grind that way and remove the challange.
2 years later but i don't really care, if you're that high leveled and you decide to do that, it'll be even more boring fighting against enemies which give so little exp. idk, it isn't flawless but it's pretty good
I've been playing the game alongside, (going ahead only to get stuck most of the time) and I've been doing the same path walking thing, never thought I would coincidentally do something the same way Chugga does it. Loving the series so far, keep up the great work!
Wait, so Chugga’s played Yokai Watch? Honestly it’s a good game and not a Pokémon ripoff like a lot of people claim it to be, I kinda want to know what he thinks about it lol
Gotta be honest: not a fan of the blurring effect. It just looks jarring & ugly in motion. Also, you should note the stats of bosses & they're weaknesses (especially the Sanctuary bosses) because it would help greatly for anyone, newcomers in particular, who's having trouble beating a specific one.

He's definitely playing on either the Wii U or the SNES Classic. It's also the easiest way to record footage, since he can easily use a recent capture card.
The blurring bit is a thing for the SNES Classic version, not something that Chugga made himself. As for stats, he has said a few times on Twitter that he doesn't think it's necessary to show enemy stats since a lot of stuff like how turn order is calculated is luck-based, and having just concrete stats doesn't help as much as you'd think it does.
It’s so nice to see you relaxing on this second visit and not trying to be too serious with enemy bios and lots of effort, and be more laid back in your commentary. It’s a fresh change of pace that’s really enjoyable - and I bet you’re enjoying the simplicity too =P
Ive been watching chuggaaconroy for so long, ever since wind waker, and its so cool to see him revisit Earthbound. I cant wait to binge this series another day.
I've been playing along with this LP for my first playthrough, and after I finished this episode I just sat in Twoson and smiled. It has such an inviting nature, with the music and the semi-autumnal colour pallete. Playing along with this LP is so fun, and it's giving me a chance to finally play a game that I've heard so much acclaim about.
Chuggaaconroy/Emile, watching your first LP of Earthbound and watching your Mother 3 LP inspired me to buy the game myself. I’ve put about 6-7 hours and I absolutely love the game and I want to play every game in the series. I just wanted to say thank you for introducing me to another one of my favorite video game series of all time. Thank You Emile. (BTW, the auto correct for Emile is Emiliano)

i don't personally have a problem with these, but it's hard to just not read a comment. if they don't like them, they'll read it and to stop themselves from reading it they will first have to realize it's that one comment they don't like, and noticing that will make them annoyed anyways, even if they didn't read the whole thing. plus, to know that you told them not to read them, they have to read it lol
People don't like to mention when Japan has localisation changes. For 2 reasons 1 they aren't as widely recorded in America, and if I am wrong about that. They don't want any fact to get in the way of their anger because they can't be happy. They also don't acknowledge when the localisation has good changes that in some ways are better than the original. Things have to change from one region to the next.
14:46 Well, if Earthbound is the first Nintendo game to tell you to take a break when playing for too long, Ninten's dad does the same exact thing in Earthbound Beginnings, happening 7 years earlier.
Well Chugga, I’m happy to see this and I’ve gotten Earthbound on my 3DS XL form the Eshop today and I’m happy to watch you play it and to play it myself since of how much good I’ve heard about it, anyways I just gotten the key to go to Giant Step and all I have to say I enjoy the time in Earthbound and all I have left to say is, keep up the good work and great videos you have introduced me to many games that I wouldn’t of heard of anywhere else and always bring a smile to my face when I’m not feeling good both mentally and physically.
When I played Earthbound, which was on Wii U when miiverse was still active, I beat the machine with 1 smash attack on the first turn. Pretty funny, but I had to draw a lackluster drawing and people loved it. Anyway, all this content you're pushing out, I'm loving it. Redo or not, you do it best from what I've seen. Chug-on Chugga.
I feel like a lot of RPGs have the "hard at first, getting easy later" thing. A lot of the time the only option at first is attack and defend, all your weird strategic options aren't open til later. It's like the first battle in Pokemon games being nothing but Tackle spamming.

I love the little Onett Newspaper clippings at the end, I wonder how many there could be and if we can see one every video. Gosh I can't hardly wait for the next episode!
I don't normally comment, but I got really excited when I heard the trumpet player's song! It's a song I sang in chorus years ago called "Going Home" (also known as "New World Symphony" I believe). The lyrics are really nice! In case anyone is curious... "Going home, going home I am going home Quiet like, some still day I am going home It's not far, just close by Through an open door Work all done, care laid by Never fear no more Mother's there expecting me Father's waiting too Lots of faces gathered there All the friends I knew I'm just going home No more fear, no more pain No more stumbling by the way No more longing for the day Going to run no more Morning star light the way Restless dreams all gone Shadows gone, break of day Real life has begun There's no break, there's no end Just living on Wide awake, with a smile Going on and on, going on and on Going home, going home I am going home Shadows gone, break of day Real life has begun I'm just going home"

GRB13 I never put much thought into it but I remembered an old video of a life action Comercial and Ness did look a little chunky
I think the game implies that Ness is somewhat of the athletic type, I really wouldn't say he is fat.

Chuggaconroy always knows how to cheer me up.. bad puns, jokes, and great videos of course. :)
Row Row, Fight The Power!
The npc was the origin for sans! "On days like these, kids like you should be playing Nintendo games."
Awesome video chugga I love your videos since Paper Mario the thousand year door
Im glad our taxes pay for 5 full grown police men and a battle hardend cheif to get beat up by 4ft ten year old
The adventure continues TO....the office. I'm loving this re-let's play! ❤️
Ret’s play?
Saint Noodles re-let's play. As in. He's doing a game he let's play before
"Let's Replay" sounds better.
PTp1ranha yeah that can work.
Ive been watching chuggaaconroy for so long, ever since wind waker, and its so cool to see him revisit Earthbound. I cant wait to binge this series another day.
Chuggaaconroy: obeying traffic laws and crossing at crosswalks even on video games
Thanks chugga for showing me such a great game. I played this game straight for a few days and I love it thank you.
Boy Meets Girl (Twoson Song) get's me so nostalgic about this game. Easily my favorite song in the game.
Wait, Chugga referencing Yokai Watch? Now that’s wild.
FIGHT THE POLICE
Coming straight from the underground
Tobbysas Straight Outta Onett
Crazy Mother 2 player with attitude
I've been playing along with this LP for my first playthrough, and after I finished this episode I just sat in Twoson and smiled. It has such an inviting nature, with the music and the semi-autumnal colour pallete. Playing along with this LP is so fun, and it's giving me a chance to finally play a game that I've heard so much acclaim about.
I’d make a pun but I honestly can’t think of Onett
I Onettly can't think of one, either
I'm slowly dying inside umm I don't think that is a pun but I will be Onett to find one.
i suck at puns to,i guess we just have to Onett
Jokes on you, I pronounce it ON-ETT, not ONE-ETT.
I could make threed puns with this material
Chuggaaconroy/Emile, watching your first LP of Earthbound and watching your Mother 3 LP inspired me to buy the game myself. I’ve put about 6-7 hours and I absolutely love the game and I want to play every game in the series. I just wanted to say thank you for introducing me to another one of my favorite video game series of all time. Thank You Emile. (BTW, the auto correct for Emile is Emiliano)
These officers tho
Jackson Spann #Blacklivesmatter
Cameron Hart: ROFL
I kinda feel bad, I dont watch Chuggas new videos but i sure as hell go back and watch his old ones.
Tonight on Cops Police officers gang up on kid intending to beat him up
Twoson's town music is a favorite of mine. I spent a lot of time in it and never got tired of the song.
What do you call it when someone plays soccer just for fun?
They are just playing for kicks.
I went in the hospital and talked to all NPCs BUT I did not see that hilarious sign. I’ve got to replay this game sometime.
Epic No Count: 0
Episodes without a Single Epic No: 5
Sidenote: Seriously people; I'm not doing this to Annoy people; and This List isn't hurting anyone at all; So if you don't like it; You DON'T have to Respond or even read it; and Because of the fact that I'm Not Hurting anyone by making this list; I'll keep doing this List for the entire LP;
And One More thing: I'm Sick of being bombarded with Negative Comments from some of the same people on youtube; so If any of you guys don't like what I have to say, DON'T READ MY COMMENTS AND DON'T RESPOND TO MY COMMENTS;
AND ANOTHER Thing: If No One can post something NICE; DON'T POST ANYTHING AT ALL!!
I mean... The same could have been said in your acknowledgement of said negative comments... But in essence I agree with you.
New3DSLUIGI364 respect
New3DSLUIGI364 keep going bro, show people that you don’t care what they say
i don't personally have a problem with these, but it's hard to just not read a comment. if they don't like them, they'll read it and to stop themselves from reading it they will first have to realize it's that one comment they don't like, and noticing that will make them annoyed anyways, even if they didn't read the whole thing.
plus, to know that you told them not to read them, they have to read it lol
Uh...we do have to read it, idiot. There’s no way you can tell what the comment says before you actually do.
chugga: fight the police
pharoah atem: i challenge the police to a duel
*FIGHT THE POLICE*
You brought me back in time so hard with that American Tail reference. Somewhere out there was my lullaby as a child, so that made me really happy.
13:41 rip chuggaonroy
This playthrough seems even more exciting the second time around. The first playthrough got me subscribing to you!
Ha, that'll teach you to mash through the text in an RPG Emile
when will you learn?
Never.
No literally, never. Not Dokapon Kingdom, not this game, never.
He never learns. Jon's onslaught during Dokapon should have made him learn but it didn't.
I really love this game, glad Chugga's playing it again!
3:25 FIGHT THE POLICE
Well Chugga, I’m happy to see this and I’ve gotten Earthbound on my 3DS XL form the Eshop today and I’m happy to watch you play it and to play it myself since of how much good I’ve heard about it, anyways I just gotten the key to go to Giant Step and all I have to say I enjoy the time in Earthbound and all I have left to say is, keep up the good work and great videos you have introduced me to many games that I wouldn’t of heard of anywhere else and always bring a smile to my face when I’m not feeling good both mentally and physically.
"FIGHT THE POLICEEEE!!!"
Pokemon isn't the greatest example, you brute force it really easily. But yeah I do agree with you
Before Mario gained the ability to turn into a elephant 🐘 he had the ability to turn into a mouse 🐁 19:47
Actually, the original Mother also had the feature where your dad would call you if you played too long
3:25 (Shows picture of Ness with a pair of "Deal with it" shades, flanked by Snoop Dogg gifs with the phrase,"Thug life" written below.)
You were attacked by the police because you were rolling with so much style (deal with it)
15:33 "Guts went up by 1!" *GRIFFIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIITH!*
Report 3 : karate cops

The cops took me a lot of hamburgers, the way I dealt with them was I used shield a and just kept on bashing luckily them missed a lot and smashed attacks would take them down in two hits the real problem was caption strong even with shield a his mega attack was would do 50 HP of damage this battle as well felt like it was also by luck especially with captain strong with no PP and one big chop could end me, he kept increasing his attack and guarding and I took him down with only one smash and the rest with bashes of only 11-17 damage
*i want to make a note that the stats that I have may not be correct I forgot to write it down before i went on and LV up and so the stats I have may look a little fishy my apologies I tried to use the LV 12 LV 14 stats and made an estimation of my LV 13 stats

"Going home, going home
I am going home
Quiet like, some still day
I am going home
It's not far, just close by
Through an open door
Work all done, care laid by
Never fear no more
Mother's there expecting me
Father's waiting too
Lots of faces gathered there
All the friends I knew
I'm just going home
No more fear, no more pain
No more stumbling by the way
No more longing for the day
Going to run no more
Morning star light the way
Restless dreams all gone
Shadows gone, break of day
Real life has begun
There's no break, there's no end
Just living on
Wide awake, with a smile
Going on and on, going on and on
Going home, going home
I am going home
Shadows gone, break of day
Real life has begun
I'm just going home"
Who else is playing along with him for the first time?
Loving this series as always, dude!
