My wife is Ugandan. We are currently building a home in Kampala. When I retire in a few years, I will retire with her to our new home in Kampala. 🇺🇲 ❤️ 🇺🇬
I'm Ugandan born and bred, living in Uganda. Excited to see an AA family that has chosen Uganda over the usual Ghana, SA, Tanzania, Kenya etc. For that reason I'll subscribe. May God reward you exceedingly for daring to venture. Thanks for choosing Uganda.
I have just started watching you and your husband. I really feel like I now have the courage to move back home. I was born in Uganda and left when I was a teenager. I am now grown, married, and have children.
As a native of Uganda, who has lived in the US for some time, I support your decision to move to Uganda. We are a very hospitable people, friendly and not always in a hurry, as you have found out. English is the official language. You are right about the affordable cost of living. After all, we grow most of our food since Uganda is arguably the most fertile country in Africa. Hence, your food bill will be a breeze. You will also find that it is fresh, straight from the farm and without any additives. Organic is indeed the right word to describe it. If a lot of rain almost everyday bothers you, imagine countries where it is not as lush and green everywhere as Uganda and they can't afford to take water for granted as we do. Uganda has 69 freshwater lakes no other African country can match, including the second largest freshwater lake in the world, and by the way, the source of the mighty river Nile as well! Even the wild animals know how nice our climate can be. That is why we have so many of all kinds in our game parks! Have you taken Malaria seriously? You better take precautions now before it is too late! I would not advise you to tamper with your American citizenship whatever you do. It is your birthright, so keep it. The sooner you learn the Luganda language, the better off you will be. It will be much easier for you to talk them out of those steep dress prices they told you about. Most importantly you may get together with a local friend when shopping. That way they will not prejudge you as much, to be loaded with money as they would anyone from abroad. Good luck to you and welcome home.
You have some gems in what you wrote. We are learning the language and culture every day. The goal is to fit in where no one will know where we're originally from. But overall we live it here though. Even through the headaches.
@@AfricaEverAfter Thanks. Good for you Zara, Julius and the children. Take one day at a time which makes seven in a week, then weeks turn into a month, next thing you know you are celebrating Christmas at the end of the year and so on. Before you know it, your "goal" has been achieved just like that. All the best.
@@mariatheresa2755 Yes, that includes crater lakes in western Uganda and elsewhere in the country you may not be familiar with. We have more freshwater lakes in Uganda than any other African country. People tend to disregard any smaller freshwater lake close to a bigger one both of them separated by land. For example, Lake Nabugabo near Masaka is separated by land from the much bigger Lake Victoria. Similarly, Lake Kuania is a separate freshwater lake from the much bigger Lake Kioga despite their proximity to each other and so on.
@@apolokaggwa6521 okakasa? Wow, our country is naturally rich. I know we have crater lake but i didnt know they r that many. Explains the good weather.

Thanks and please whatever issues you face here in Uganda, its you to help us improve and make a difference. For the muzungu tax, even us locals who look abit uptown face it, we just have to know the prices before hand so we negotiate better
The thing with Ugandan food is that it's organically grown and people want to test the natural test. If you cook food with a lot of spices people will not support your business. However, we have restaurants dedicated to countries that have many citizens in the country. Like the India restaurant, Chinese, Italian etc. Take not that Ugandans also prefer their food boiled. Like no oil. So it will be hard to adjust on that
Buying something in Uganda or traveling by public means, you must bargain the fares more especially when you're new in the country. Transport maybe fixed but if you board a taxi or minibus along the way, first negotiate what you have for a specific distance you're travelling from what the transport operator has told you.
