  • This is an Automotive Engineer's full review of the Ford Bronco Sport Heritage Edition. While the Bronco Sport is based on unitized body design (vs body-on-frame like the larger Bronco), it has much more capability than expected. David does his usual quality audit and full checks on this 2023 Ford Bronco Sport Heritage Edition.

I have a Bronco Heritage version and one aspect I like, is the white top really helps to lower the temperature when the car is sitting in the sun for long times. The open glass feature is also a great throwback to a tine when every station wagon let you open the back window.

This video examines the Bronco uniquely--truly from a manufacturing engineer's point of view. Helpful!

David, I would like to see an affordable Land Cruiser FJ in the same colour scheme including the white wheels. 🤩

There’s a difference between initial manufacturing quality and long term reliability. I’ve owned a Honda and two Subarus and shopped the Acura RDX. After seeing numerous RDX on the lot, all of them had horrendous fit and finish issues. (My Honda Accord and Subarus also had fit and finish issues although minor compared to the RDX.) Because I could not find a RDX that had acceptable fit and finish I ended up buying the Ford Bronco Heritage Edition (with the more powerful engine). The fit and finish is superior to all the Japanese cars I’ve owned (two made in Japan, one made in Ohio). Now long term reliability I am concerned about for the Bronco but I’m willing to give Ford a chance.

Nice review of the Bronco Sport. Will you review the regular Corolla Hatchback? It’s manufactured in the Tsutsumi factory in Japan. It would be interesting to see the quality of an ordinary Toyota car produced in Japan.

The new Bronco Sport looks similar to the older Ford Escape. I do like the new style a bit better though. Wish it had a hybrid version. We ended up getting a 2023 Rav4 Hybrid instead, we do think the Toyota quality is better. Our 2009 Escape Hybrid was a great vehicle. 178K trouble free miles.

I have 2023. 13k miles. Water pump leaked. Replaced. Had modules replaced in Electric system. Stray voltage in engine. Wondering about any improvements in 2024.

I find it incredible how absolutely entry level cars that should cost 25k are sold to gullible, ignorant consumers for double that. Anyone that pays $50k for a Bronco Sport, regardless of trim, fully deserves the 40% first year depreciation that they get.

Yeah, your comment is pretty definitive. Have you noticed that you can hardly find any car under 40 grand? It’s got nothing to do with the bronco sport. Clearly you’ve never driven one, so to speak so confidently about why you think it’s overpriced is a little offputting. Everything is overpriced right now. It’s called inflation due to the country being run by an idiot…. Otherwise, the bronco sport is a very nice well built subcompact… it’s no more overpriced than any other car right now. They’re all overpriced…

I suggest you shop around, Ford is hardly the only car company that's expensive 40k today anywhere is a steal, when you need a auto you need an auto

I had a Bronco Sport. I loved that car, but it was too small for a family with children and dog to haul around. I traded it in for a Ranger Lariat.

I tried to test drive one and it wouldn’t start… it was a brand new 2023 on the lot in 2024. I really liked the one that did start but I just can’t pull the trigger on it with the reliability issues and experiencing that.

@AutomotivePress: Would you recommend the Badlands trim? Has the 2.0L 4 cylinder EcoBoost and a much better AWD system.

    • @jdmoney1000
      @jdmoney1000 5 месяцев назад +1

It depends what you’re using the car for. If you’re just going to work and back, the 1.5 is more than adequate. Although the 2.0 is a blast to drive… fuel cost will be higher with the 2.0. I think the 1.5 cloth seats are inherently more comfortable than the upgraded leather…

Can't we get a retro designed, compact FWD SUV that competes with this from Toyota? They can even call it a Landcruiser/4Runner mini, just sell it for a more reasonable price than Ford.

Fords are similar to Harley Davidson motorcycles …. always have great paint and great chrome, but the owners need to be mechanics to keep them running.

I like American and Canadian car makers, but over the decades, just so must disappointing the quality, the ideal interiors.
The CEO of many American became ill-decisions before engineering/designing and after to finalizing the vehicle for market just failed stages for decades.
