I have been obsessed with this since release. I drive a 2020 BMW, but wanted a small SUV that didn’t look like a “soccer mom” car (no offense to soccer moms). This was exactly it. The Outer Banks was perfect for me.
Did you have a 2008 - 2012 Escape? I have a 2012 that’s been great and I still love it. This vehicle body looks alot like it. In fact the inside trunk looks exactly the same. Never thought I’d see the day that I’d be able to get another Ford on the lines of those looks and it comes in green too. 🤗😃💃
Just bought a 2023 outer banks version. I wanted a car that does not need to go off road but to get me off the road. I really like the look of the sport. Kayaks, hiking, biking and getting to my cabin on a gravel road, but live day to day in the suburbs. Really meets what I was looking for.
I picked up a '24 Bronco Sport Big Bend a couple of weeks ago and I'm also loving it! It's a '21 Big Bend in this video, yet I don't have a digital readout in my temperature dial, or foglights. Odd that Ford omitted those in the '24s.

Mostly a grocery getter, but sometimes carry a 16ft canoe, sometimes out to fishing locations. Perfect rig
Solid review. I got my ‘22 Big Bend a couple of months ago and really enjoy it for what it is. I feel like a lot of people don’t understand the Bronco Sport. It’s the perfect vehicle for me right now. It’s not the perfect vehicle for everyone. Especially for those who think it should be a full size Bronco or a clone of other vehicles in the Compact & Subcompact SUV class.
I recently purchased a 2024 Badlands version...very impressed! There are multiple improvements since 2022 that address the very issues that you brought up. Ford is paying attention.
I’ve have a Badlands 2021 and I really enjoy it. Must say the 2 L surprises me with its instant power. I’m 77 and have been a gear head from Detroit for ever, to me the sub compact SUV IS fantastic.
Many people want to hate on folks like me getting the Bronco Sport. I love Ford. My old car was a Taurus SHO. I loved the old Broncos- and actually they weren’t like the “Hummer” clone of the big Bronco. They truly looked more like the sport. I got mine in Hot Pepper. Love the 2 tone colors. Its nice looking and I get 30 mpg for daily driving. For people who want to drive in mud and trash their vehicles go get the 60k big Bronco and go for it. As far as the Outer Banks model it had all I wanted. I wish Ford would start making cars again. Love my Bronco but would buy another Taurus in a heartbeat.
Same. My fav of all the cars I have owned. Smooth comfortable ride, Great mpg. Looks GREAT. My Outer Banks the way cool Area 51 color with a black top. It's a year old and people seek me out in parking lots to compliment the looks and talk to me about my Bronco!
I have the 2022 Badlands model and it has been superb. It is great on the highway and when I do adventure to lesser traveled turrain, there is no problem whatsoever. And being in Canada, it is amazing in the snow.
This was a good video to learn about some of those hidden features Peter mentioned although I am finding some on my own after buying my Ford Bronco Sport Badlands model a week ago. I LOVE it. It has a similar look to the Toyota Rav IV that I had for years before they went bubble-shaped. I love the round "eyes". The white lettering offers nice contrast to the Cactus Gray paint. The rubber cargo and floor mats are a huge plus since they are included. Ford packed a lot of great features and amenities into this baby Bronco.
My son just bought a 24 Big Bend and it’s beautiful! We drove almost everything: CX30, Crosstrek, HRV, Corolla Cross, and all the hatchbacks to match. He had decided on the Corolla Cross, but it was looking like several months to find what he wanted so I took him to drive a Bronco Sport and a Maverick. He picked the Bronco in Red Hot Chili Pepper (I forget the actual paint name, but it’s a pretty red). Just picked it up last night.
I just bought a Branco Sport Badland edition. Compared to the 2001 Nissan Pathfinder that I drove before, this feels way more like a luxury vehicle. LOL Still getting used to all the bells and whistles this thing has. So far I absolutely love it!
We had a 2001 Pathfinder and it was the bomb. Sold it to my nephew with 268k miles on it and it's still going strong. Love my Badlands but I don't anticipate getting that many miles out of it.
I am a first time owner of a Ford and previously had a couple of Jeep Cherokees by far. I love my new Ford bronco sport Outer Banks. I’ve got the bright red one with that orange looking color. I think they call it red hot pepper or something. It’s a lot of fun Thank you Henry Ford for starting making Fords.
I have the Bronco Sport and love it. Another thing we found out is you can use the Fob to lower your windows and raise them. Which makes it nice if you have your windows down and it starts raining. You don’t have to run out to the vehicle to raise the windows.
Very helpful. Thanks! I love luxury vehicle, but now that I'm retired and have a 100 pound dog that I take on hikes in the Rockies, this is very practical and economical.
I had a black 2021 Outer Banks and loved it, but traded it for a 2021 Gladiator. I am BACK in a Bronco Sport as of a few days ago and am glad to be back. I'm in a Big Bend HPR. I just love these things!
Just got mine! Love it! Loved your review and agree with everything you talked about. I think the sport is great, and very fun to drive. I feel it’s comfortable and the storage is perfect, for me. (Single, in my 60’s, and retired! The sport is perfect!)😊
Just bought a 2024 in October of 2024. We moved to the country (on dirt road now) and wanted something tougher than our Fusion. We love our Bronco Sport in Desert Sand with a black roof.
Thank you for a very good clear and precise video as I am a first time bronco lease vehicle myself. 👏🏻 great job on this video and helping us people learn more about it!
I used to have a Pontiac Vibe, and it had the opening hatch glass as well. It was a favorite feature for me. If you have a hitch mounted bike rack and bikes loaded, it allows for access to the hatch without tilting the rack or removing the bikes.
Great review and tips! I just got a new 2023 Broncos Sport and followed along with your video with my manual and found several areas I was confused on so thank you! There is a lot of technology and it can be a little overwhelming but your walk through really helped!
I have the bronco sport, Badlands, and it is great for dirt roads, snowy roads, and it does pretty well in Urban driving surprisingly as well. With the 2.0 liter four-cylinder it also has excellent acceleration and handling.
Just bought the 2021 Badlands 2 days ago after trading in a 2014 Titanium Escape. So far I really like some of the features (especially the adjusting lights at night!) but was amazed at how much pep it has that the Escape didn’t! Still finding my way around the technology but cannot locate the “warning beep” like on the Escape when you get too close to objects either behind or in front of you.
May I ask, why did you switch over to the Big Bend? I am thinking of getting the Outer Banks for a moon roof. Is there anything better about the Big Bend?
@@vickipope451 There's about 4K+ difference between the two trims. One would think for that price, you'd be getting the 4 cylinder turbo instead of the 3.
Like that keypad idea. I used to dinghy sail, and always worried about getting my keys wet as well as losing them... Used to have a float attached to the keyring, but that's so much better.
For the money, approximately $35,000, this is the best vehicle on the market. It gets 25-30 miles per gallon, and it is super quiet and competent. My son kept asking me: "Is the engine running?" I replied: "Yes, son, it's very quiet.🤠
Good review, I have a 22 big bend sport, I have done a few things to it to make it the way I like it. Tires were 1st. all in all it's a pretty decent vehicle, it get's the the job done and at a price point that I was willing to go.
I have loved 6:02 this vehicle from the minute it came out. I have a 2009 Ford escape And it’s quite similar. I am Going to need a new vehicle soon and this is what I want. I love the square look and it’s rare nowadays to find that. I hate the bubble rounded look. Reminds me Of the old station wagons. The only thing I don’t like is that the seats are not all leather. Not a fan of fabric. Would I be able to get custom all leather seats?
Right!! I missed that. Although, I do think that's weird... It's a car... drinking and driving? I don't know that cars need bottle openers, but I hear you. At the campsite, it's certainly convenient to find and use.
I’m 6’3” and I’ve never had any issue fitting in a smaller Ford SUV. I’m just trying to convince myself if I really want a car not after not having one for the past 3 years.
Since you bought one with some miles on it, how do you think it is holding up for a vehicle that is 3 years old? Did Ford do a good job or could they have done better with some things? I know your Outer Banks trim has a power passenger seat, does it go up and down as well?
This is a practical vehicle for the replacement of our trade in, a 10 year old 2012 Ford Escape. Similar style on the body with the upgrades of computer technology… & fuel economy is excellent! Bronco Sport has a 5 star front and back NTSB safety evaluation. All the points expressed by Pete are appreciated by folks who own the models with the features, and most will back him up for the points , especially outdoor folks without children… or two plus travelers. This is a great sensible vehicle for two folks and a large dog! A better choice for family is an Explorer. GOAT modes are computer programmed drive modes… for those who care less about details, they drive FNR, ( forward neural reverse ) … old school… and will serve the old school drivers . Computer will serve average drivers well. The most worthy modes are sport for driving under 30mph. Normal for 40 mph, eco for driving over 70 and slippery for heavy snow and rain. Sand mode is for sand on beaches or situations where you are stuck in mud or snow. In regards to fuel economy, all these modes have worked in favor of 25 mpg and better. The only exception is changing out the aluminum wheels with steel wheels and snow/all terrain tires for 23 mpg average fuel consumption. The only negative issue is the paint chips easy and requires a tube of repair paint to diminish the flaws and prevent rust. We use this as a city, suburb and county ride… as well as an emergency vehicle for the fire department and dog control. It’s been a reliable vehicle.
I’ve been trying to figure out what the GOAT modes are more specifically. I’ve had my Bronco Sport for 2 months. Does the eco mode take the all wheel off and go to two wheel drive? Mine has a Sandy and a Slippery. What’s the difference? Does one of these modes lock the differential out of limited slip?
Most cars won't allow you to lock the vehicle if the key fob is left in the vehicle. That feature is there so you can not lock up your vehicle if you foget to have the key fob in your pocket/hand when you exit the vehicle.
I'm looking at replacing my corolla in the fall. I've started my list. Right now the Maverick is top of the list (well tacoma but can't justify the cost) but this is also there. Gilberts is not on my list though as when we were shopping for my car before we had a budget and were laughed off their lot.
I have a 2021 Sport and have noticed that in the last several months the heads up display and radio have been intermittently not working. For example at random times, I cannot change the radio station without pushing the radio button several times. It is like it "gets stuck". Then yesterday while driving the whole display went blank and went into restart mode. I have also noticed that the plug to connect my phone to for AppleCarPlay causes my phone to get very hot and then it will stop charging. I have a thick case on my phone so the pad does not work. I have taken it in several times and of course they cannot find anything wrong. Just curious if these have been problems documented by others. Other than that I love it for the 1 1/2 yrs I have had it. It is the perfect vehicle for me. It has been all over the Midwest!
2022 Sport. My Android gets HOT on the charger "plate" but not the plug. Plate, as I call it, is on the right and the most convenient place to lay the phone. I DO NOT LAY the phone the charge plate on purpose. Gets too hot. may be where you set the phone, not the plug
Mine has the same issues with the radio plus several others. Ford service told me to just disconnect the battery for a few minutes then reattach it. I haven't done it yet, but it's supposed to give it a hard reset by doing this.
My wife and I traded a 2013 Fusion Titanium for a 2023 Bronco Sport Badlands. I liked it so much that I sold my 2006 Mustang GT, supercharged, for a Badlands also. Hers is cyber orange, mine is area 51. Then we gave our 2017 Taurus to our son. But, we still own our 1960 Thunderbird. Needless to say, we love our Fords.
Nice after-market tires on those standard 17 inch wheels! (probably noisy though) But those plastic flaps just ahead of the front tires have to go! Anyone know if this drives FWD until slippage? Or is the 4X4 setup always working (and robbing gas mileage)
Pretty sure the AWD is engaged constantly. This is NOT a very fuel efficient car especially with the 2.0 Liter engine. I have the Outer Banks with the standard 1.5 Eco Boost and avg around 23 mpg in the city and 29 on the highway.
I drove 4 hours to get my 2023 yellow Ford Bronco sport 💛 I’ve had it 3 weeks & I’m still trying to figure out all of the bells & whistles! My steering wheel has a + and - on the back side. Still trying to figure out what that does.
at 2:32 you accidentally say jeep, I mean Ford....ACTUALLY this body is very reminiscent of the Jeep Commander, with the step up over the rear passngers for headroom, and the lifting rear glass on the hatch.... Which is a good thing. I had a Commander and LOVED it but it was a little big and bulky with horrendous gas mileage....this is a perfect blend of a design I love, but great gas mileage....an ingenious blend of Jeep and Ford designs for sure! I bought a 24 BBin Desert Sand!
I agree. The only good thing about the Continentals is the Easter egg bronco on them. I just drove through a very heavy downpour and I hydroplaned. I only have 11,000 miles on mine and can't justify the new tire expense. But I will be getting a more aggressive tire .. possibly Falkens.
I don’t agree with that. I see what you’re saying, but if you’ve ever driven a Bronco Sport back to back with a Wrangler Sport, you’ll see a tremendous difference between them.
I just drove one from Mississippi to California doing as much as 85 mph in those states that allow 80mph and am getting 29.9 mpg for the whole trip. That little 3 cylinder gets great mileage and is only turning 2500rpms at 85 mph.
I think this particular Big Bend has an inch or so lift, as there is more room between the top of the tire and the wheel well trim. More than a normal Big Bend.
Picking stones from those tires becomes a full time job, every day unless you want them to go to crap fast.I haveant even done any off roading yet,I could see it right now first thing that happens is you pop a tire from sharp rocks.
Today I traded my Ford Edge for a 2024 Bronco Sport Badlands in red pepper metallic color. I only wish it had navigation included in my premium package.
Hi Peter. Did you used to work for a Kia/Hyundai dealership? I think I remember seeing you on another channel. I looked at a Bronco Sport Badlands as well as the Subaru Outback Touring and Hyundai Tucson Limited . Found both a bit larger in passenger and cargo capacity. Any thoughts? Would you say the Bronco Sport is a better choice?
I did used to work for them. I went on my own about a year and a half ago and it's been great. I'm able to do things that interest me online, but I'm also able to do a lot of things offline that I'm really enjoying being a part of. As far as choosing the Bronco Sport or the Outback or another... It's always tough for me to choose for others. I'd choose the Outback for myself because I love lots of storage, but the Bronco Sport is very well done, and if it meets your needs, I don't think you can go wrong. I know that doesn't help too much, but at least it's my honest opinion.
@@PeterLoweOne thanks for your thoughts!! The Subaru Outback is a great vehicle! I have owned one as well as a Legacy 2.5 GT and a Forester. The Tucson was very comfortable to drive and was spacious. However not as rugged or outdoorsy looking as the Outback or Bronco Sport. I do like the Bronco Sport Badlands however I think the Outback may be more reliable in the long run.
Love my Bronco Sport... its all most perfect ... if the back seat was a folding 40/20/40 it would be perfect .... I ski and don't like putting my skis on the roof when I take the kids skiing..
They're automatic, and when they're open, they allow for better cooling, when the vehicle doesn't need better cooling, they close for slightly better aerodynamic efficiency.
Got our new 2023 Bronco Sport 4 months ago. It was recommended by my sister in law who works high up at Ford Canada. Last week on the highway it blew a rod. Had 5 people in the car at the time. Ordered Uber for 3 people. 2 went with the tow truck. Hoping Ford will reimburse us for $70 Uber. They are saying the vehicle will be ready next week. We'll see.
If fuel mileage matters to you, then you have to choose the Hybrid. If you like to go a little further off-road, and like the more rugged features of the Bronco Sport, that's the one for you. I would sit in them and test drive them. There are people that would never consider the Toyota, and others who would never consider the Ford. What other people choose shouldn't decide what you choose. Sit in them each, drive them each, and you should have a good idea of which one is best for you.
I got a Bronco Sport Heritage 2023. Very disappointed that it does NOT have an auto lift GAIT, does NOT come with rubberized mats in the interior…black thin carpet.. REALLY? Had to buy them! My Daughter’s RAV4 came with both these features at no extra cost. The GPS is mediocre at best. I could not get a 7 prong tow adaptor put on it…they said it could void the warrantee! I have a very light camper, but it has electric brakes. So I had to buy an adaptor, and can’t use the brakes. The dealership was so inconsiderate and awful…I will NEVER get a FORD again.
Hi all! I have a question I'm hoping one of you fellow Bronco companions can help me with? Long story short I've searched forever on the internet and RUclips to find a video on how to replace the little black plastic bumper piece on the bottom of the passenger side door...(someone hit it when I was inside store 😢) but I bought the replacement piece and it looks like snap-on clips but I cannot for the life of me pop it off, is there something I'm doing wrong is there a video that someone can point me in the right direction? Thank you all Bronco lovers see you on the road! 🐴
It sort of does. The roof line for sure. This isn't body on frame though, so it's a different style SUV, but the spirit is similar and it does share some lines.
good review , yes you pointed out a few things ill look for on my 2022 badlands. that was a very high spec vehicle so a few extras i won't have but that's ok. full size spare option and tow hitch were tops for me. The 2 things i don't like are the high rear wiper box that makes you think there is a car tail gating you and I would almost give up this vehicle because of the rotary gear shift! Honestly totally spoils my driving experience, 50 years with inline or column shifter with positive detents, this POS you have to look at every time to see where you are. I'm going to have to learn to look at the dashboard to check the gear position. really pisses me off. oh! one other thing is the parts they left off on the 2022 compared to the 2021......cheap bastards! leave it as the engineers designed it!...... its a $50k vehicle for crying out loud! cheers warren
I love how he pointed out that cars have faces, he’s so real for that 😭

For the money, approximately $35,000, this is the best vehicle on the market. It gets 25-30 miles per gallon, and it is super quiet and competent. My son kept asking me: "Is the engine running?" I replied: "Yes, son, it's very quiet.🤠
It actually shuts the engine down when it comes to a start believe it or not.
Love our Canadian 🇨🇦 reviews....I believe there is under rear seat space too
Great, detailed review. This is a car I want and I’ve been looking at reviews.
I just picked up a 2024 badlands. By far the most fun I’ve had in a 2.0L
Good review, I have a 22 big bend sport, I have done a few things to it to make it the way I like it. Tires were 1st. all in all it's a pretty decent vehicle, it get's the the job done and at a price point that I was willing to go.
Thanks Peter, this was a really nice overview of the vehicle and informative for a brand new Bronco Sport owner like myself.
I love my 2023 Ford Bronco!! 🤎
Mine is white ❤
I have a Badlands and I love it. The engine is awesome.
I have loved 6:02 this vehicle from the minute it came out. I have a 2009
Ford
escape
And it’s quite similar. I am
Going to need a new vehicle soon and this is what I want. I love the square look and it’s rare nowadays to find that. I hate the bubble rounded look. Reminds me
Of the old station wagons. The only thing I don’t like is that the seats are not all leather. Not a fan of fabric. Would I be able to get custom all leather seats?
I just got the 2024 green big bend green , so far love it
Very nice looking vehicle . Ford really hit it out of the park in my opinion
Yeah. A lot of people really appreciate the style of this SUV in a world where there really isn't a lot of differentiation between the competitors.
There’s also a bottle opener located in the back area. Ford really thought of so many things.
Right!! I missed that. Although, I do think that's weird... It's a car... drinking and driving? I don't know that cars need bottle openers, but I hear you. At the campsite, it's certainly convenient to find and use.
@@PeterLoweOne not every bottle contains alcohol tho lol
We own a 2021 Bronco sport. It does well in our snowy area of Michigan's Upper Peninsula.
omg, it does park itself wow u forgot, I have this one and love it. I am 6'5" fit fine
I’m 6’3” and I’ve never had any issue fitting in a smaller Ford SUV. I’m just trying to convince myself if I really want a car not after not having one for the past 3 years.
Great video! Thanks for the details
Just got a 21 Outer Banks and I love it.
Since you bought one with some miles on it, how do you think it is holding up for a vehicle that is 3 years old? Did Ford do a good job or could they have done better with some things? I know your Outer Banks trim has a power passenger seat, does it go up and down as well?
Does it have keyless entry on the doors?
Yes
It looks alot like the 2012 Escape for sure. I love my 2012 Escape. It’s been such a good vehicle in our household.
I loved my 2005 used Ford escape for 6 years she took me around California without A problem. On to New adventures in my Bronco Sport 23
Just got the sport one I love it I vert happy
I'm looking at replacing my corolla in the fall. I've started my list. Right now the Maverick is top of the list (well tacoma but can't justify the cost) but this is also there. Gilberts is not on my list though as when we were shopping for my car before we had a budget and were laughed off their lot.
What is Auto hold is ?
I just got my car I don't know what it is?
I love your video is so much very helpful.. ❤️❤️❤️
I have a 22 Outerbanks and the connectivity issues are mostly due to the older Sync 3 system. I can't be 100% sure but that would make sense to me.
@@Jcruzer70It’s AWD but it’s FWD bias. It’ll divert power to other wheels when it detects slippage tho.
I have a 2024 bronco sport big ben love it not one problem
I really like this vehicle
I have the exact one from the video and the rear windows won’t roll all the way down. They stop mid way, anyway around this?
That is because of the wheel cutout on the door… no work around available…
How about adding a ´safari panier’ on the roof and an air intake pipe out on the hood
That would make it so so much cooler !!
U did not mention VIP info...IIHS and NHSTA Top Safety Pick.
Despite the fact that I do longer reviews, I would argue that I leave out more than I put in. I can't mention everything.
I drove 4 hours to get my 2023 yellow Ford Bronco sport 💛 I’ve had it 3 weeks & I’m still trying to figure out all of the bells & whistles! My steering wheel has a + and - on the back side. Still trying to figure out what that does.
I would think volume control? And other side for changing channel presets?
Just bought a yellow 23 too! Gets delivered tomorrow. I can’t wait!
at 2:32 you accidentally say jeep, I mean Ford....ACTUALLY this body is very reminiscent of the Jeep Commander, with the step up over the rear passngers for headroom, and the lifting rear glass on the hatch....
Jeep🤷♂️ whoops!
@@PeterLoweOne it's not a bad thing, lol
I wish mine came with tires like that stock. The stock Continental tires are offensively bad.
I agree. The only good thing about the Continentals is the Easter egg bronco on them. I just drove through a very heavy downpour and I hydroplaned. I only have 11,000 miles on mine and can't justify the new tire expense. But I will be getting a more aggressive tire .. possibly Falkens.
Yes, I agree. I’m hoping Cooper makes there winter snow claws in this size on my new Big Bend. 17 inch
Bronco sport badlands is a wrangler sport competitor. The full size broncos are rubicon competitors
I don’t agree with that. I see what you’re saying, but if you’ve ever driven a Bronco Sport back to back with a Wrangler Sport, you’ll see a tremendous difference between them.
Can you tell me what color this is? Thanks!
No cargo hideaway shade?
One question what is MPG for this vehicle?
My alarm keeps going off. I've taken it in three times. Is there a way to lower the sensitivity?
I can't diagnose a car online, but a wild guess could be to see if a hood switch is working properly. I've seen that set off alarms on other vehicles.
I love my best SUV Ford Broncosports
One thing you forgot is the bottle cap opener in the back on the right
Love my Bronco Sport... its all most perfect ... if the back seat was a folding 40/20/40 it would be perfect .... I ski and don't like putting my skis on the roof when I take the kids skiing..
Could you explain the shutters in the front grill? Are they auto or manually opened and closed. Great video.
They're automatic, and when they're open, they allow for better cooling, when the vehicle doesn't need better cooling, they close for slightly better aerodynamic efficiency.
@@PeterLoweOne Thanks I just went to see one at the dealer. It will be my next truck.
We'll see.
It blew a rod? That sounds serious. Is there a recall for that issue?
Not sure why the rear wiper is so small
I agree
Ordered a 2024 Bronco Sport Badlands. Can't wait...but guess I'll have to because production will take 6-8 months! At least that is what they tell me.
It will be worth the wait!
I love my 2023 bronco sport in atlas blue!!
Atlas Blue is a nice color!
Got the garlands it's fast and handle the road9
tow hook add ons for the front end are $250 each. Why?
Can anyone suggest me in this please and thank you Bronco Big Bend or Rav 4 hybrid LE ???
no one ever shows what storage looks liek with the rear seats down. If it lays flat or has that stupid 20 degree ramp.
On my 2024 Big Bend, when the 60/40 seats are folded down, it does look like they are not totally flat
It's kinda like the older escape bobby befor they turned them onto a car.
The only thing I hate is how it's lost the length and with of 2012 escape if it was same then sold
You didn't address the location of the brake and gas pedals. The height of the brake pedal is a BIG problem, and they are non-adjustable.
It didn't bother me.
Reminds me of a more modern Xterra
