My mom dubbed me a copy on tape from her record & I used to fall asleep to this album every night for many years when I was a young kid. Fortunately, I was able to locate a copy recently (LP of course) I hope someone puts the entire album up here some day...
Wonderful! I, respectfully, played this instrument at Mr. Challis' residence at 5th Ave. and 23rd St. in NYC loo these many years ago before Mr. Biggs played it.. It was, and still is, an exciting instrument...Mr. Biggs did have Mr. Challis "tone it down" a bit but...the intensity is still there. I understand that this fabulous instrument is now incarcerated in a museum at Harvard! Would that they would let it speak again in the real world..but "such is the kingdom of heaven".....as it were.
My dad had a large collection of E Power Biggs vinyl LPs. This was one of my faves. Thought Chopin's Polonaise would make a fabulous wedding processional and Weber's Country Dance an equally charming recessional.
