  • What is our responsibility as pastors and ministry leaders in understanding and addressing Christian nationalism? In this week's conversation on FrontStage BackStage, host Jason Daye is joined by Caleb Campbell. Caleb is the lead pastor at Desert Springs Bible Church in Phoenix, Arizona. He is a doctoral student at Fuller Theological Seminary and a regional director for the Surge Network. His most recent book is entitled Disarming Leviathan. Together, Caleb and Jason look at what Christian nationalism is and what it is not. Caleb also shares some practical ways that your local church can engage in mission, honoring God, loving others, and addressing Christian nationalism.

Some key takeaways from this conversation:
Caleb Campbell on the importance of patriotism as a mindset that not only values one's own country and culture but also respects and acknowledges the worth and equality of others, especially those from different ethnic backgrounds: "Patriotism has a positive view of the other. It recognizes that the ethnic other is also valuable and equal."
Caleb Campbell on the significance of aligning one's actions and teachings with the principles and example set forth by Christ: "If someone is taking up the name of Christ, and then calling us to behave in ways that are not like Christ, then they are in error."
Caleb Campbell on the importance of personal integrity, values, and moral conduct: "The teachings of our Messiah are that your character matters and the end is in God's hands."

I use to count and say, " I have been told 7 times now, that I was going straight to hell , if I supported and voted for our Democratic Gov. And I live in Ky where Andy Beshear is our Gov and a man of faith. He saved so many lives and spoke last night at Dem. Convention. Just the other day again, over what I thought was a nice discussion..Trump supporter not me. KIND AND SHE just told me her points on abortion and some links and Gay individuals.. Ending with if I voted for a Democrat, she didn't think a Christiam could do that.. " Oh, straight to hell again.." I'm 57 and never been told on my entire life that being or voting for a Democrat makes me go to hell.. That is so sad.. I know Jesus, I know my beliefs, We must all pray for discernment.. It will come!
