    Check out Booked By Fate: A Life of Dealing in the Exotic World of Rare Books (beginning with a garage sale)
    by Phillip J. Pirages. Phillip deals the most expensive books in the world.

    Timely video for this rain soaking day. Enjoyed watching. Any chance you'll be at the NY Antiquarian Book Show in April? How long ago did you pick through, Gatto's, library?

      Thanks Joe. I picked his place up here about 4 or 5 years ago, someday I'll make a video talking about it. I'm not sure if I'll have the chance to come down for it, thinking about it, if I do I'll send you a message for sure.

    The quotation at around min 33 was very well chosen . I've not heard of Booth before but now want to read him. I'm also a fan of JTG on k-12 public. Great stuff, here.

      Thank you! Yeah I liked that quote too. There was another one in the book concerning universities as well but had to pick and choose a bit and also make it a bit "youtube friendly", I'm sure ya know what I mean. Who is JTG? Sorry maybe I should know but it's not clickin.

      @thebookpeddler  6 месяцев назад +1

      @@TheRepublicanProfessor sorry about that! Are you familiar with Charlotte Iserbyt as well? Excellent stuff. Gatto did a program with Richard Grove titled, "The Ultimate History Lesson" watched it years back but fantastic stuff if you ever have the time to check it out or wanted to. It was fun picking through his library, he had some awesome books and items, always wanted to meet him, one of the first people other than Ron Paul and Alex Jones that opened my eyes to information I hadn't been readily privy to before. Always have been greatful that I started learning from his content early on.

    Salamander sounds like a fun review but based on the all the response, you might need to do them both.

    I haven't read his book yet but I've certainly read some of the articles about him as they were writing about him even just a few years back. He sounded like a fascinating guy! I think one of them said he bought the derelict castle to live in, even though it wasn't really in great condition.
    Hay-on-Wye is also amazing! Such a cute town with lovely coffee shops and bookshops. I was actually telling someone the other day about a bunch of us planning the Welsh Three Peaks (Yr Wyddfa/Snowdon, Pen y Fan, Cader Idris mountains) charity hiking challenge around a visit to Hay-on-Wye. We crammed books around packs, between seats, in bags on top of us. We refused to leave any treasure behind! I'd say he left quite a legacy.
    My vote is for Salamander though I've no doubt either would be great!

    • @thebookpeddler
      @thebookpeddler  6 месяцев назад +1

      Yeah he had some issues with the castle which he talked about in the book, definitely probably ridiculous to maintain. It was a fun book though, entertaining.
      Sounds like a great place and that hike sounds like a good time. Someday I'll try and make it over if I'm able!
      Thanks for the comment, looks like Book Row is winning out thus far! I'll definitely read both at sometime!
