  • Come for a ride on the SIM1C from NYU (New York University) to the New Dorp section of Staten Island in New York City. This is a notable route as it is the only express to operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Today's ride is on a Prevost X3-45 Commuter, 1st Generation. The ride was very comfortable, but at a premium price, it's expected. New York City's Express bus system is among the most extensive intracity express bus networks in the nation and among the most premium using coach buses. Each ride costs more than double the regular bus fare ($2.90 v. $7).
Today's ride starts at NYU in Greenwich Village on Broadway. We continue down Broadway on the bus lane through Soho and the Financial District until we reach the bottom tip of Manhattan. Then we go back Uptown on West Street and see the World Trade Center. This routing is made to get into the Brooklyn-Battery Tunnel (Hugh L. Carey Tunnel). We continue through the tunnel and drive through Brooklyn on the Gowanus Expressway making no stops. Then we cross the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge into Staten Island. we eventually end up on Hyland Boulevard, a major commercial street on Staten Island in a suburban configuration. Enjoy this ride.
