Cross pollination (while understanding the separate tactics) is a big theme at Fishing Discoveries Neil 🤓

I would like to see a session with those conditions and a Tenkara rod.

On that particular day - a weighted fly would have been pretty much essential David; but (as you well know!) Euro-nymphing with a tenkara rod works extremely well! All the best, Paul.

Great video. Mixing and matching works for catching fish. Still haven't gotten the hang of using Tenkara to consistently get fish to take the wet fly at the surface. But I catch gobs of trout using my Tenkara rod set up with bead headed nymphs (often just a kebari tied on jig hook with slotted bead) and euro nymphing down where they are hanging out. A blast...

The single wet fly approach looks very simple from the outside; but it's actually decently tricky to get consistently good results with. There's a lot going on for sure. Paul 🤟

are you planning or reviewing any more budget bfs reels?

I dare say we'll do some more in future - but we have to pace ourselves a little bit in terms of buying that sort of stuff in (even the budget ones!). I don't have a set schedule for our next one. Paul

Nice video, could you tell us your setup because you're able to cast a fair distance and fish it easily at that distance

Hiya. The rod is a 10ft 6" AFTM #3 Marryat Tactical Pro Nymph Special. I'm fishing a John Pearson "enhanced turnover" traditional/classic style French leader attached to around 30" (75cm) of indicator tippet. In this case it's black and white to avoid some of the potential spooking of fish in a popular river that sees a fair amount of angler traffic. The final tippet is 0.11mm diameter copolymer; total length around 1.65cm with one dropper set 60cm from the point fly. My point fly was a size 12 ceramic nymph and the dropper a size 12 large, soft-hackle olive nymph with a white tungsten bead head. The hackle is waterhen. That whole recipe isn't really any kind of standardised blue-print - it was just what I felt would support my chosen tactics well under those conditions. Again, as mentioned in the video, to explain more fully the way to choose these things took me an entire book to write out and illustrate. Another key part of that is the text, diagrams and accompanying videos that explain how to create and chemically treat John's leader recipes (and others). Very best wishes for success on stream, Paul.
