Euro Nymphing Tactics: Fishing a Single Fly on a Micro Leader With Josh Miller

- In this video, Fulling Mill Signature Tier Josh Miller walks us through one of his favorite euro nymphing tactics: fishing a single nymph on a micro leader. This tactic is excellent in small rivers or shallow water where accuracy and presentation are paramount, and where other nymphing methods would not be as successful. Through this, Josh dives into some of his driving fishing philosophies, such as fishing with confidence and intention. To him, those two things are important above all else!
Josh Miller is a full time fishing guide in Pennsylvania. He was a member of Fly Fishing Team USA, and just won the Youth Fly Fishing World Championship as head coach of the US Youth team! Josh has been a Signature Tier with us for a number of years. For 2023 he added 3 fantastic new euro nymphing specific flies-the Zone Stone, The Simple Sulphur and The Clueless Caddis.

Another winner. Josh's approach to fishing sections or grids of the stream is right on the money. His emphasis on concentrating on each cast, especially when it is evident the fish can refuse your offering with lightning speed. Thanks Josh for the great tips!
Really happy you enjoyed it!
Josh is a great angler and a great guide. Keep those videos from PA anglers coming!
We sure will!

TROUT YEAH!
You guys are crushing it with these videos lately! This was very informative. Thank you.
Thank you so much!
Great instructional Josh will done 👍
This really works well. I fished with Josh for a few days this spring and he showed me this technique. I caught more fish in May than I did in Jan through the end of April. It helps that he is a great teacher too.
So happy to hear that!
I dont euro (yet 😂) but love these videos so much. The production quality is amazing
Josh was working way harder than I expected for those trout.
If he’s missing bites tight lining, you know the fish are being picky.
They really didn't want to cooperate with us!

What is the complete line set up?
Josh, how do you deal with (or avoid) the micro leader wrapping around the tip of the rod? It's a problem that's been vexing me, and I'm not sure why it happens. It happens with Sempe (0.18), but not with stiffer Chameleon (6lb). Thank you.
Thanks Josh…another very helpful video…you mention 7X tippet …may I ask about the rest of your micro leader set up you’re using in this great video…thanks a lot
It’s Pierre Sempe leader. 16 feet of level .016mm
Thanks a lot …appreciate your response …greetings from the UK
@@FullingMillTV I love this video. Thanks. Can I ask you a question? I have Sempe in both .16 and .18, but I find it impossible to see them under most light conditions. Do you just have superior sight, or do you add something (paint or wax) to your leader to create a sighter?
I love your videos, Josh. How often do you feel your strikes, as opposed to seeing them in the sighter, on fish you net?
I try to see all my strikes if possible. Feel is an important aspect too. But for me, secondary.
When looking at video footage distances can be distorted. So how far away from Josh is he fishing?
Could you tell us the ref. Of your line ? Rgds
Good stuff! I have to ask, why such a huge net?
Words to live by: have the net for the fish you want to catch 😀
I laughed at his net when I first started fishing with Josh. A trip or two later and I bought a big net too. With a big net you can land fish faster, safer (for the fish). For competitive fishing this really matters. And you’ll really appreciate it when you do get something big.
May I ask what rod do you fish? 2wt? Brand? Thank you
