Great video cool little stream . I pretty much always have a rod setup with me for euro nymphing . A lot of big rivers out here in the west don’t set up well for this type of fishing but there are always certain runs that set up perfect and that’s when I use the Euro rig . Diversity in fishing is what makes for success , the reason I fish is to catch fish . Dry fly , trout Spey , nymph. Euro , streamer all fun ways for catching fish . Don’t get hung up on the only good way , the only good way is the one that catches fish. Keep the videos coming:-)

That’s a beautiful river, and the video did it justice. For those out there who haven’t tried the long leader approach I have been doing it for ten years and it has solved a lot of on stream problems I can’t seem to put it down. Now it doesn’t work unless you have a 234 wt rod at least 10 ft 10.5 preferably it just doesn’t. The good news is there are a lot of cheap options. I say long leader though because it fishes dries and especially dry dropper along with nymphs better than any other technique as long as a strong wind is not blowing in your face. The leader is the most important part a lot of people only fish leader material like they said no one way. I however have found that by fishing a 15 foot or so leader which is actually short for this technique and seamlessly attaching it to my fly line which is of upmost importance with super glue it allows me to fish any technique not just nymphs. To attach the leader I cut my fly line take a large needle press it into the center and expand the core I pull it out then cut an angle into a long leader or 20lb chameleon place super glue on it then jam it in there do a dry run first to make sure it fits. Now I tell ya what that is the definition of seamless boys.

Just started euro nymphing this year. Love the technique. Very effective. Really gets numbers and more quality fish. The jig technique can really set the fish off. Tight line is the key. Great video.

Cool video! I love these small streams. The more I watch and learn about Euro Nymphing, the more I've come to realize that it is basically Tenkara Fly Fishing with a Western Fly Rod. Have you ever tried Tenkara Fly Fishing? It would be cool to see a video of that.
Love the Asian feel of the music...Super small stream euronymphing like this kinda reminds me of the origin of tenkara and all that long rod / light line stuff they do over in the orient..we just have a reel on our rods here because, well, it makes a lot of sense

I always like your material, wish he would have explained that leader set up better. Like what weight mono? Why 20-40ft? So you never have fly line out? What weight siter? How long? How much tippet off the siter? And weight tippet? Just saying

question, since using a long mono line on a small stream, does the weight forward line make any difference?
Do you recommend pre-tying nymphing rigs? I mean the leader with the sighter line part of the rig. Like maybe a 5’, 7 1/2’ and so on?
I would pre tie everything you possibly can. That's what I do at least. When I'm on the water, I personally want to spend as much time fishing and not tying rigs and such.
When I first started trying to find the leader setup that worked the best for my rod and style I carried quite a few with me and would change them every so often to see which ones I liked the best. Now that I’ve built the leader that I find is the best for me, I carry 2 extras that are the same just in case it was to break or something like that. I’ve been using the same leader in the video for about a year now without having to change it.
Reminds me of Art Lee ....deceased FLY FISHING MAGAZINE WRITER ....Who used a "claret" marking pen to make his "USUAL" EMERGER ...also sermonizing on using 8x tippet..at least six feet....to make the cast.....

What is the set up for the Drayton for euro nymphing? Is it a 10'6 3wt or 10ft 2wt ?
So I’ve heard so much about euro nymphing I feel like I’m being forced to nymph this way in shallow streams because strike indicators suck frankly in shallow streams cause you can never tell what’s a rock vs a strike and theres no control with them i like to feel the bottom

What’s the big deal with catching wild trout? Is it just another thing or is it harder?
The big thing is that Wild Trout were born in the stream (not stocked) which gives them completely wild tendencies. Stocked trout were bred in a hatchery where they were fed and did not develop that natural instinct of surviving in a river. Therefore, makes them harder to catch, more pretty and more of an appreciation of catching them. I have nothing against stocked trout, I just love the idea of catching a wild trout. Might do a video in the future diving further into it.

I tried this type of fishing and struggled getting my bead head nymphs to the bottom without using some splitshot then I hung up a lot.
Try using nymphs on jig hooks, this orients the fly hook point up reducing the amount of hang ups quite a bit
Are you using tungsten beads? Are you getting multiple sizes of beads? Most people who euro nymph will change flies regularly to adjust for different depths.
