I’ve lived in Huntsville, AL my whole life and it is really up and coming! We have Dave & Busters now and lots of really cool places in the Mid City district! I was thinking of moving away a few years ago but it’s fun here now!
The reason I've decided not to move to Huntsville is because of the typical lame boring Franchises like Dave and Busters Fataburger when a Publix moves in I move out. I moved to North Alabama to get away from the Loser Central Florida Suburbanite Minion One Dimensional seen.
I was born and raised in Huntsville and I absolutely love living here. Can't say enough good things about it! The only thing I do not like about it is how many people live here now. But it's not bad at all. Everything is steadily growing with it so it's just fine.
My family and I are looking to make a huge change. I am a disabled veteran that worked security police in the air force and currently a detective here in memphis. This place is beautiful and looks like a good place for a family. Need to find a good high end security job or corporate investigator. Thanks for the video.

Wow! I never imagined Huntsville would receive attention and grow as much as it did. I have family there and went to college there back in the 90’s. It is VERY different now, in a good way. 😂
I grew up in the Industrial Midwest and have lived in Houston for 40 years since college. With the tornados up north they are over with quickly and we never got hit. Not much in the way of preparations needed other than knowing where you will take shelter. Hurricanes are worse .... been hit by several including Harvey plus all the anxiety for a week or more of where one will make landfall. Plus two mandatory evacuations (Rita and Ike) and days without power. I’ll take tornados as a hazard any day.

Father was a 30+ yr Army NCO, worked Missiles (Nike & Pershing mostly)/FA/ADA,we got Redstone Arsenal every second posting (Or every stateside one,depending how you look at it!) from the '60s to his retirement in the '80s. Our family considered it as our 'Second Hometown'. They later actually regretted NOT retiring in the HSV/RSA/Madison Co.region. (Pressure from other members of the extended family who 'wanted us to be closer so they could visit?' (But still ever seldom did!! :D) My parents also have both since passed.) Went back to visit in '17 for a week,and even as much as it changed (I-565 was still being planned----and argued about,many didn't want it!----at the time,among other things?) I still knew my way around by memory after 34 yrs!!! Have given thought after my visit to 'correcting that mistake' and 'maybe' moving back to this area in a few years?
Redstone was at the time the HQ for the Missile Command,and where you got sent for some of the training,when we got posted there Dad was one of the 'Instructors' at the School. Many other countries also sent 'their' guys to 'our' school as well. Especially the Bundeswehr? (West German Army)

I remember when Boeing tried to stop me from walking on they're road to get to work at Kroger on Drake. Huntsville is built on a highway and there is no side walk when I would walk home to golf rd.

I’ve been in Madison for 3.5 years now and we have loved it...but the traffic! Wow! Funny enough, my allergies got better once I moved here from Mobile. Couldn’t believe it!
If you are young, nightlife and dating life are a huge con. However, a pro is that community is very strong and there's lots of specific groups to meet people at, so in that sense, you can probably meet someone pretty close to your interests
Comments while watching! Heat and Humidity? This is NOTHING compared to Houston, TX! Lol. The rain is awesome and cools it off. There is NO traffic here compared to Houston again! Roll Tide! Tornadoes are awesome to chase ... or not... Great jobs here - wish I could find one locally but I work remote now so it’s awesome. There are also TONs of places to ride off-road. Love being so close to the major cities but not have to deal with them!
I am considering the area between Huntsville and Birmingham (and slightly east) for a retirement homestead. I am tired of temps approaching or below zero and lack of vitamin D generation in the winter here in Indiana. ;)

The most efficient roadwork in the U.S.. Huntsville highlight shirts get it done on zierdt road. Lots of good food to choose from, you can even get KFC chicken or Taco Bell in the same building here. Lots of burger kings where you have your McDonald’s so we enjoy lots of options. Another thing is the wonderful things to do I’ve been to the US space and rocket center hasn’t changed a bit and it is heralded as being better than Disney world here and when we finish at The space and rocket center we go to bridgestreet and that’s a typical fun time for Huntsville! Otherwise we are close to Nashville or Atlanta and other cities if we want to do anything else that is good for food and fun. Love Alabama, healthy state too. Got monte sano mountain. It’s not as big as other mountains but they have grass to walk and porta potties. Tate Services brand last time I checked so they’re the good kind, always clean. Huntsville is a good place to live especially for 21-29 year old age groups because they have a place on governors where you can order craft beers and drink them and throw axe at wall. UAH is more recognizable here than MIT. And our Research park has a lot of retired military people, it is really fun!

Hampton cove, morning side, green mountain. Areas like that are good! They’re not close to downtown but there’s always going to be a lot of retail within 3 miles of wherever you live in those given neighborhoods. You got many major shopping centers in south Huntsville too which is a substantially growing area with new housing developments coming along by Grissom high school in the next few years. Morning side neighborhood already has houses being built

Plan to retire early and split time between consulting (will need good flights to Houston and New Orleans/Baton Rouge since I am in the petrochemical industry) and grad school (theology or Biblical studies depending on the quality of the institution). I live in Huntsville, currently in Birmingham for the holidays, and I think the football culture here is completely ridiculous. There's hardly any logic or reason behind all the fanaticism for most people here. I've lived in Alabama most of my life and I have never understood the football culture. It's just pure insanity.

The key is to be prepared Jessica! A lot of homes have storm shelters in them and you can add one to any home that doesn't.

Madison city schools and south Huntsville schools are your best bet if you have kiddos.

I guess. I'm having a blast. Plenty of places for kayaking, bike riding, off-roading, camping, hiking etc.
