More like the right people know how to the make the right content for the game idk just feels like there are only a couple of people who upload content that is more interesting to watch because of how immersed they are compared to other people who make videos about it
The reason your HSI (Horizontal Situation Indicator) didn’t let you adjust course was because you were given landing clearance by the tower. Once you’re given landing clearance, the HSI automatically aligns itself with the runway and will also give you a horizontal glideslope indicator as well (which, if you look back, it did)
@@ControlledPairsGaming I think you were also initially right that the runway was at 070. I think it's a lot easier to fly on speed on your down wind in something like DCS, as you can and should be trimming the aircraft for on speed. In VTOL VR, you don't really have trim, so you're managing throttle and pitch angle to get on speed. Only thing I saw rough with the landing was your descent rate was pretty high, like 1500-2000 feet per minute. You want to be on speed, with your velocity vector also sitting around 2.5-3 degrees negative for glide slope, like 300-800 feet per minute or so. Otherwise, on the carrier you might bounce and miss the wire. Or cause damage to the aircraft, but who cares about that? Any landing you walk away from and all. I love that I've found a few good content creators that seem to be right up my alley in gaming interests. I always felt like a weirdo, being into the more tactical games and flight sims from my teens. It's cool seeing others that appreciate this kind of stuff, but also aren't so wrapped around the axle about it to keep from having fun and enjoying it.
@@Guardian179 That's correct, runway numbers are in tens so runway 07 is 70 degrees, approximately. You can see that the HSI locks in a heading of 068, which is the runway's actual heading.
For sure. It's funny that the art style between this and Tactical Assault VR are pretty similar, and they both have pretty cool camera features for content creation.
I totally agree that this is an experience rather than a simple game. I love every second I'm in the VTOL world... even if it's as I crash and burn because I didn't shake a missile properly
Just got the game 2 days ago. Absolutely love it. A lot to learn as it’s my first sim where you’re fighting and stuff. My only previous experience is Microsoft flight sim lol. I still got a lot to learn and a lot of practice but it’s very fun.
I've been playing VTOL for a few years now, probably since 2020/21, and I absolutely love it. I get to take my experiences flying B738's from MSFS/XP12 plus the knowledge I'm gaining from ground school studying for the FAA's knowledge test and use it in a fully immersible flight simulator which feels amazing to fly in. The game has come so far since the days of using the VTOLVR mod manager to get multiplayer working to crazy multicrew jets and native non-laggy PVP. This game is a must for anyone who is interested in aviation.
I was kinda hoping it was on stand alone because I don't have much room near my PC to VR, but then again it's a seated game... sooooo might be worth. This is an amazing step by step, thanks for this.
Excellent video, thank you. More instruction/commentary videos like this would be great, maybe separate ones on landing, missile evasion, instruments, tactics?
Doesn't really work like that. Your suggestion will only help turn rate by slowing the aircraft, but that makes you an easier target. Actually wings back is better really because the tailerons are what changes your nose direction, and you want the main wings back to make it more stallable to help with that by reducing drag at high alpha (angle of the AC with regard to the direction of travel). Then, because it's got a crazy amount of thrust you can recover and surge in the newly pointed direction. What it really boils down to is this is a high and fast strike and get the hell out of dodge aircraft, and not a dogfighter. If you're in a close range fight you're screwed unless the opposition is flying something equally as fat in the ass.
VTOL VR is so good, it works on the Oculus Quest 1. I since invested in a MQ3 in order to stream it smoothly to the tube. Also, its just such a well done game, now with RCS definition, its so much easier to get into than a much more involved game like DCS World.
Ayyye! Let's go! If you're buying a pre-built, consider meta pcs. I have a deal with them. They do good work and my code will save you some cash. I bought my rig from them.
VTOL VR is honestly almost worth it alone IMO. I mean, you can get plenty of cool experiences on a stand alone Quest 2 or 3, but you don't see something like VTOL VR without a PC.
I very much agree! Been playing VTOL VR since the F45 came out and it’s amazing to see the community grow. However, the new players need some brevity code training… I’ve been having issues with communication recently and it’s effecting gameplay.
Not everyone is die hard into the milsim side though. Brevity codes are nice if that's the experience you are looking for, but there is a large player base that would rather speak causally and just play the game for run rather than milsim it to death. There will always be a player base split with flight sims between casual simmer and milsimmers. Both are okay, you just have to find your group of people to get what you want out of the sim.
I love your videos, and this will help a lot when I try to get a PC. I have been trying to get one for a couple of years now, but when I get one, I would love to fly with you, and maybe someday I'll be able to fly with you.
I need to find someone to fly with so I can learn the weapons. Im a great pilot already I just need to learn the weapons and the best ways to evade them. I have been flying simulators since FSX.
I like to stream this game on TikTok. Everyone loves it on there and I get so many questions on what you need to have to play it and what aircrafts are available :D
Nice job. Maybe work on your Comms as your use of informal words and waffle (no offence) will go against you if you're flying in multiplayer. Good use of brevity codes and command and control will mean you more quickly convey info, which gives you more thinking time... which is crucial in fast jets. Remember at 500mph you're doing over 8 miles per minute, or about 1/8th of a mile per second, so every second counts. Less of a factor with air to air but for ground attacks at low level it's relevant.
We already talked this out in another comment. Actually several of them. I just had a brain fart trying to fly, think, and make a video. Please forgive me.
How are you switching the spectator cams like that? Are you recording your display and the spectator cam at the same time and switching between them in post?
You can when it's in 'camcorder' mode. For the intro and outro that's what I was using. For the rest of the flight it was in random which rotates through a series of fixed cameras.
personally; I think this game would be more popular if it had a non vr version for people who do not have a vr headset. Great balance between fun and sim edit: just noticed the symmetry box which means you can have 'dirty' loadouts
I just want to say that when people say this game is easy for new players and easy to get in too, they are sooo lying to your face cause I am a new player and everything is confusing I have been playing for like 2 weeks I am still the same skill level I can’t do simple easy missions and the game is really only easy if you have someone that is already good at the game to teach you, unfortunately I don’t have that
It really makes no sense to me how they haven't figured it out yet. They had clouds but performance issues made them take them away? C'mon. This game looks like Roblox with wings, figure it out lol Cool game but IMO it still feels like more of a tech demo showing the potential of something vs. an actual full fledged game. A game where you literally only fly in the sky, it needs clouds. Ugh just frustrating seeing something so close to greatness. Great videos though, will help me greatly.

VTOLVR is hands down one of my favorite experiences, to the point I built a second VR station for visitors to fly along.
Man I should do that and make my kids puke in the back seat of the jamcat!
Worth it to see the look on their faces….wait, you can’t. Still worth it. 👍🏼🛸
What's your setup? I need to buy a setup and this game yesterday.
I'm on a valve index and a custom PC from MetaPCs that's running a 4090. Details in description.

If you use AirLink, you can pretty much play wherever you want.

I'm a long way from playing this game but I'm learning so much just watching you play it!
Plus, the fights are super exciting.
I find it "CRAZY" that vtol vr has voice command input🤯
The addition of mulitplayer without the need of a Mod is what made this game finally popular.

I wish more people made videos about this game bc of how good it is.
I wonder if VTOL vr will ever allow players to play the role of the strategic bombers or awacs. Even refueling. That would be so immersive and fun
