    Lentil soup is a soup based on lentils; it may be vegetarian or include meat, and may use brown, red, yellow or black lentils, with or without the husk. Dehulled yellow and red lentils disintegrate in cooking, making a thick soup. It is a staple food throughout Europe and the Middle East.
    Lentil soup may include vegetables such as carrots, potatoes, celery, parsley, tomato, pumpkin, ripe plantain and onion. Common flavorings are garlic, bay leaf, cumin, olive oil, and vinegar. It is sometimes garnished with croutons or chopped herbs or butter, olive oil, cream or yogurt. Indian lentil soup contains a variety of aromatic spices. In the Middle East, the addition of lemon juice gives a pungent tang and cuts the heaviness of the dish. In Egypt, the soup is commonly puréed before serving, and is traditionally consumed in the winter.
    Lentil soup is recognized as highly nutritious, a good source of protein, dietary fiber, iron and potassium.[6] Hippocrates prescribed lentils for patients with liver ailments |

    SO delicious and comforting. I'm still dreaming about the two bowls I ate yesterday. I used crushed tomatoes simply because I forgot I didn't have any tomatoes and if it's any better with fresh tomatoes, I will be amazed. I substituted the specialty pepper per some instructions I found on Google recommending a ratio combination of smoked paprika and cayenne. I make a lot of soup in the winter and as often as possible, I try to share it with others, but this soup takes so little time comparatively AND is even more nutritious than split peas (which often do not soften and require a lot of babysitting). Thank you for this wonderful recipe and the lovely instructional video. One more thing: I think if giving it to small children, maybe sour cream or milk with tone down the spicey heat for them.

    @Rajshri Food recipes 🤘.
    I have made this recipe 5 times already. I double the ingredients to make more soup and then pour the made soup it into portions of 1.5 cup containers and freeze them. This soup is part of my daily diet. This is a great recipe.
    I usually add some fresh chopped red Thai and red scotch bonnet peppers. Otherwise, the recommended recipe spices are perfect.
    I once substituted the yellow and orange peppers for orange butternut squash as I had it in the fridge but didn’t have the peppers.
    The green spinach leaves are a great touch and a must as in my opinion really enhance the soup.
    Blending half the soup to give it that creamy texture is 👌.

      I used part stock and part water and I added an appropriate amount of salt for the water part. I thought it was perfect. If you use all water, obviously you'd have to adjust the salt, but I don't think the recipe spices would need to be altered. I'm thinking you might add some extra veggies for the flavor of the vegetable broth. Just an opinion. I know I'm being presumptuous in answering your question but I make ALOT of soup so I'm experienced plus I only recently started using stock in place of some of the water.

My favorite thing about cooking is experimenting with flavors. I usually use a recipe only once and then when I make the dish again, I suit it to my taste. Have fun with it!! ❤️
