What was great about this short part of the season was that each candidate was a viable new character, nobody stood out as an obvious throwaway. Everyone had a personality and backstory that made them seem like real people and not just one-off characters in a TV series.

@@harshivpatel6238 True, but others that stood out, at least to me, didn't make it. #2 is from another country and has an attitude, or at least she is touchy that she had to repeat medical school to practice in the US. #15 & #15 are twins so you could just imagine the number of jokes and shenanigans house would say/do to them. #18 made it pretty far and has an interesting background/personality, but got kicked due to House's rules at the end. #11 is in a mobile scooter/ motor wheelchair (or whatever you call what he is on) and I could see him and House going back and forth about disability or something.
I guess I should've said that there were a good number of candidates that weren't just one-offs since I'm looking more at it and yeah there are some just plain background characters who don't even talk.

No. 26 (old man) was always the coolest one. He was the only one to keep up with House out of the recruits.

@@coldtea7 When I first got introduced to those two characters, it kinda happened almost in the same time, and for a while it was hard for me to remember who is who. xD
@@coldtea7 more likely because this show is loosely based on sherlock. Holmes(homes) = House, Watson = Wilson. The apartment they live in is also 221B. There are many hints throughout the show.

@HEAV¥HAND I believe that's why House eventually fires her - he praises her for "playing the game better than anyone else", but lets her go because "playing to win" as a job candidate doesn't translate well enough into "playing to win" as a doctor.

You need to be a better driver to drive in china, precicely because it isnt as safe and because they dont have as many "automatic cars".

I am from Jamaica too. But I didn't get any of that. I took a few tests and they put me in regular classes. I am half decent at math, so I was bumped up a grade level. I came here in high school btw. And now in medical school.

The end where House asks for the car keys, makes Amber realise that was his plan to let the keys "get stolen" all along. She walked right into House's plan. The horrifying thing here is she also realises that had she somehow not done it, House would have been disappointed in their lack of intelligence and probably stop considering them.
House isn’t that omniscient. He deduced Amber stole the keys after the fact. After assigning them to wash his car, he noticed his missing keys, and since only two of the candidates came back, Amber was the logical culprit of the remaining two.
The look on Amber’s face was fear, she couldn’t decide if she should own up to taking the keys given it could result in her termination. He picked up on her reaction, so assured her that it wouldn’t matter to confirm his theory. The reason he doesn’t care is that he respects the initiative; House looks for a team member who takes risks and thinks outside the box.
But it wasn’t planned. He wouldn’t assume a group of doctors has the know-how or the courage to defy his orders and pickpocket him. If he did, he wouldn’t have given them the task in the first place, since he has no reason to trust them with illegally driving his car.

Their dynamic throughout the series was so enjoyable, the best one after House and Wilson’s IMO.
Fun fact: taub was almost fired immediately. He was in a row of people house fired but changed which row was fired because a hot chick was in the first group that was fired

This ia my favorite arc in House. Very unique and there was a more definite progression between episodes. I wish this competition was the whole season as opposed to only the first half.
People say they prefer the original 3 but I still liked the team with number 13 and the harold and kumar guy and Foreman. Didn't really liked the team after that when Chase comes back.
@@Ilovegrunge123 The 2nd team was great because it was different from the first. They didn't just try to refill the open slots, but instead created three completly new characters (and gave Foreman a bit of an evolution). Which is a trap I think showmakers usually fall into when characters leave, they just try to fill the position 1to1, which rarely works

Olivia Wilde (the lady playing 13) is so awesome. She went from the supporting role on an NBC program to being the director of a wide release feature film! A total inspiration.
She likely slept her way to that role. It's Hollywood.

His relationship with Wilson is that they're best friends. People can truly love other people on the best friend level. I'm not denying sexuality (although with the boundaries this show crossed, I feel like we would have seen more of House presenting bisexuality), I just truly think they were just inseparable best friends

@cak01vej not everything from the show is an "upload material". House is very good to chop down the show into those mini-youtube episodes, but i think at least 1/4 of the screen time is a waste for that.

One thing that always gets me about season 4 is how good of a job they did making characters we all wanted to stick around, and they boot all but 3 (4 if you include Amber's ongoing presence) out the door! I'm always asking myself "What if Cole stayed instead of Taub?" Just imagine the Mormon jokes we would have heard XD
If he had truly been a Mormon, he would've refused most of House's orders. IIRC, he was fired because he proved that he didn't have any principles, while nagging about how principles are so great, aka a hypocrite.
Some of the disqualified candidates are actually fun to watch. Especially the old man.

I just find it really funny that the Mormon doctor is the same actor that played Xmen's Darwin.
7:36 one of Amber's reasonings for quitting earlier was that if her group were any good, they'd be the ones doing a medical procedure. Having proven herself by getting everyone to quit and stealing House's keys, he assigns her to oversee the patient in the hyperbaric chamber.

I love the fact that house just finds ways to subtlely sneak easter eggs in like "Tesla was robbed!" like people don't understand how much that frustrates me when we learn electricity and they say Edison invented the lightbulb

At 2:02 it seems House is mocking the guy for asking the name but in the episode with the sleepwalker, the key was to know that he was arabic so the name is indeed a relevant information
